If I can bribe Hugo into coming with me with a bottle of Jagermeister, we'll be there.

*note* The bottle of Jagermeister will be consumed by the both of us beforehand, so we'll most probably be drunken. Oh well.

I was waiting for the official announcement. Sweet.

Bec, are you the one who does the photography at gigs? Or am I getting confused with somebody else. Somebody on the old forum took photos at Punk O Clock.

Yes, it is all official now, and yes I know you're going Mel =P
Good to see other people will be coming too! Hooray!
Nah, I'm not taking photos, I volunteer for Freeza, so apart from setting up and stuff, I'll be either on cloakroom or door or maybe doing backstage stuff :)

Bec

People will be putting them up places and handing them out, but I'm not sure where. There might be some around the camberwell area or in the city, not sure. I can send you one if you like, or put one up and tell you where.
Or you could come dressed up =P

I'd like to go along and see/hear what all the raving is about!

Also, Bec if you could send a flyer it'd be awesoome coz there is no way in hell (scuse the pun!) that I'm dressing up!

Bec
09-14-2006, 11:07 PM
Aww, you're no fun. Dress up.. you know you want to!
I should be able to get some flyers on monday, so I can give one to you Lauren at TLE on wednesday (yay 6 days). If you're going to go with or at least see Cam, maybe I could give you one for him then too?

Thats an awesome line-up there... Zombie Ghost Train with Perfect Sin and Black Lodge Sounds. Good job whoever booked that show! What are the trains back to the city like after 11 from Camberwell? Also do you know if ZGT are playing any other shows while they're down in Melbourne?

Alrighty, I'll give Lauren some flyers at the TLE gig. Did anyone else going to TLE on wednesday or thursday want a flyer?

Haha I didn't book it Mel. Josh did. I'm not sure if they're playing any other shows, I haven't heard of any, but it's possible.

What are the trains back to the city like after 11 from Camberwell? Also do you know if ZGT are playing any other shows while they're down in Melbourne?
There are trains at 11:02, 11:32 and 12:02. Then they stop.
The trams around that time seem to be pretty good though. You can check out all the public transporty stuff here (http://www.metlinkmelbourne.com.au/timetables/landmark_search_results.php?LANDMARK=&KEYWORD=camberwell).

Bec
09-16-2006, 11:13 PM
Thanks Bec. What's your Freeza committee like with guitar techs? Do they get in for free?
Are you a guitar tech for one of the bands playing, or just a guitar tech?
If you're with one of the bands the band could put you on their door list
If not, then no, sorry :P

Cam and Lauren, did you just one want flyer each or did you want any for friends and stuff?

Rock'n'Roll
09-16-2006, 11:24 PM
I've been guitar tech for Perfect Sin before.. so that's why I asked.

Bec
09-16-2006, 11:30 PM
Oh, that makes more sense then. Well in that case you'd probably have to talk to Perfect Sin about it, and then when we send out the contract, they get an option of who to put on their door list, I think they're allowed one person per band member plus two crew.

maddie
09-17-2006, 01:29 AM
Well I'm there but you already knew that. My friends Esther and Cassie will be coming, perhaps others that I can force to... they've heard me Cassie and Esther rave about it so much now that I think they wanna go just to check out what all the fuss is about!

Sorry to say it but I doubt I'll be dressing up either, I'm just not good at that sort of stuff. But it'll be great to see others dress up as well as meet more people from here! :D

I'ma going as a Dead Cowgirl.

So i get one hell of a hilarious myspazz message from Stu. One line, but it cracked me up. He'd obviously been looking through my photos and found one of me and him with the caption "Stu that predictable buffoon :P" 'coz he always pulls the same face. His message simply read...

"Why am I a predictable buffoon?" Good times :D

Hey Bec, is it in the part where it's like...far away from the road?

Because I've been to a show at the Camby Civic Centre before and my friend and I have passed it many times on the tram and stuff but the actual big building with the plaque and all wasn't where it was held. It's actually like...right next to the building on the street and you have to walk maybe 50m in from the road up the grass/driveway thing and up a couple of steps. Is it that buliding?

Bec
10-07-2006, 11:48 PM
Yeah, that's the one. There's like a big curvey driveway thing. If you go there when a gig is about to start it probably shouldn't be too hard to tell because there'll be a bunch of people standing outside.

worry_rock
10-07-2006, 11:59 PM
Haha, last time we went her mum dropped us off at the side and we were wandering around for like 5 mins going "where is everyone?!" but we found the place and it was all A-ok :p

This morning I searched all the other bands on myspace to see what they sounded like. I'm liking the Black Lodge Sounds and Perfect Sin but I'm definantly not looking forward to seeing the Horrorwood Mannequins play.

cdejonge
10-08-2006, 11:52 AM
My friend told me Black Lodge Sounds are good. They played at a gig at TLC or EV's I went to, but they were in the local room and I was at the main stage.

Do Horrorwood Mannequins sound bad?

Ally
10-08-2006, 11:57 AM
Horrorwood Mannequins describe their music as Metal/Gothic/Industrial. I havn't listened to their music but I'm sure I won't like it, I hate those genres.

cdejonge
10-08-2006, 11:58 AM

Ally

I only know Glad Rags and Body Bags, so I'll say that one.

Ally
10-08-2006, 12:58 PM
It's either Glad Rags and Body Bags or Monster Formal Wear, which is the EP. I suggest that if you're going to buy MFW, get it from a show. It cost me $10 at their last show and Mel saw it for about $30 and a shop which I can't think of the name.

But yes, you should definantly buy GRABB.

I have no idea what Alina's talking about, but at one point during their set, I saw Bec peeking through the curtains at the back of the stage and waved to her. The lead singer thought it was directed at him and waved back.

That was the worst ZGT gig I think I've ever seen.

Worst as in ZGT themselves or the rest of the gig?
Because if it was something about the gig that we could improve for next time then I'd appreciate it if you let me know and I can bring it up at the next freeza meeting.

Kimjar
10-16-2006, 11:35 PM
Freeza gigs just suck in general, but no I meant the band

RollOn
10-17-2006, 12:39 AM
That's fairly harsh Kim. What exactly did you find wrong with them?
I found that the microphones were pretty bad sound wise, other than that I didn't see a problem.

You should have come and said hi! I never noticed you there, sorry!

Kimjar
10-17-2006, 09:26 AM
How is it harsh saying that it was one of their worst gigs? I'm not gonna sit here and say "omgz they were so awesome" when they weren't this time around. Songs out of time, guitar out of tune, Stu's vocals weren't the best. Etc. But I don't really care, every band has bad gigs every now and then.

Couldn't be stuffed saying hi, I was tired and bored so Hugo and I just hung out away from the kids.

Bec
10-17-2006, 01:41 PM
I do agree they didn't play the best they have compared to the other times I've seen them but I wouldn't have said it was a bad gig personally. I still thought they were amazing.

If you don't mind me asking, what is it you don't like about freeza gigs? Because being part of the committee I'd really like to be able to improve whatever's bad about them and I'm sure the rest of the group would too.

Kimjar
10-17-2006, 03:52 PM
I guess I'm just too old for Freeza gigs now, treating everyone that walks through the doors like a bunch of 12 year olds is a bit much. Like bag cloaking and stuff, I don't mind bag checks but cloaking is just stupid and doesn't really make a difference. Most kids that go to Freeza gigs know the rules and don't try to take in stuff they're not supposed to.

I thought them forcing us to pay a dollar for them to take our bags away against our will (even *after* they had been checked at the door) to put in the "cloak room" was not fair at all. The "cloak room", by the way, was no more than the floor behind the row of desks that a few defenceless FREEZA workers were guarding.

I mean, having to leave your spot just to check your phone, grab a sip of water from your water bottle, get your wallet, etc was a bit silly. It's not like I could carry all those things in with me either. I mean, I'd need a bag to carry them. Oh wait.

I was feeling brave so I went back to the desks and demanded they let me take my bag in with me, especially since I spied others who had managed to get in with theirs. The girl told me that's just because they hadn't happened to have been caught.

Bang-up job you're doing there, Freeza.

Anyway, about the actual gig. In all honestly, I have been to better ZGT gigs. I mean, it wasn't terrible, but I have seen better. The only other band I happened to like was Perfect Sin. Sean, the guitarist even gave me a free tshirt. He was giving away free stuff all night. I chatted with him and Azzy for a while at the merch desks during the Mannequin's set, who sounded awful by the way.
Black Lodge Sounds were nothing special either. They were a bit too heavy for my taste, and all of their songs seem to sound the same. I still don't know why they changed their name to what sounds more like an indie record label.

I'm looking forward to the overage ZGT gig in November. Overage is great; it should really wean out those heckling giggly gift-bearing teenies that seem to pop up at every ZGT gig.

Yeah, listen to this chick. She said exactly what I was too slack to type up. I can't wait for the overage gig either, bring it on.

Black Lodge Sounds were pretty shit when they were Kingpin440, and still are shit. Possibly worse actually. I've seen Perfect Sin too many times, so they kinda bore me these days, but they do put in a fair bit of effort on stage and I like that. We missed them though, we got there just before Black Lodge Sounds.

Gift-bearing teenies. Oh yes. This phrase is going in my "regular usage" category.

Remember that crazy guy who was yelling out "Quick run away!" during the first ZGT song? Then he was yelling at me and some guy to the other side of him "I'm stuffed! I'm going now! Stop yelling at me!"
