It costs more than $40 to get to Ballarat.

God if it was that cheap i'd go up there all the time for gigs :p

Deadcat Kaye
07-06-2007, 12:57 AM
$17.95 for me to train it upto echuca.

it's 9 hours to get to sydney...4 hours to echuca.
I figure...double the price(soughta). VOILA you got your cost

XD

imagine takin a taxi.

You'd have to change taxi's at the border though, it'd be a bloody nightmare.

I looked up train prices for Sydney, don't even think about it! It'd be cheaper to fly up there haha

Yeah cheaper to fly, I've gone interstate to shows before... I suggest a bunch of you under 18 Melbourne girls fly up together, get some super cheap accommodation... or even because it's in the day just fly back after. Easy done, it doesn't cost that much really. I mean how often do Mad Sin, Meteors etc come!?

AAAAAAAARGHHHHHH. That sucks that sucks that SUCKS. Way to cap off a cruddy-ass day. Casino Rumblers AND Creepshow both had an underage show posted on their myspaces. I'm so sick of bands putting up gigs that haven't been confirmed. I was looking forward to this something crazy and blargh.

Meteors gigs are great but not for the feint hearted, mind you I doubt the Wrecking Crew will be flying over.

Fritz

I'd go but im over the whole scene. Tiger Army were simply plain SHIT and boring as fuck, lets never ever mention Horrorpops ever again, I was disapointed with Nekromantix (although Kim was quite impressive) but considering they are 'kings of psychobilly' that was quite disapointing to know 'well this is as good as it gets..'
And if ZGT is 'the best' our country can put out then that simply sums up the industry. I'd bet my life they would be nothing without makeup. Its all shit.

There was a great scene in the country around 2000/01. Every month there was always great gigs consisting of the howlin mood doggies, kingpin440, zgt, slant 6, the psyclones, bazooka joes, wild turkey, casino rumblers (when they were good, before they decided to simply play louder and faster), louisville sluggers etc. Fuck it was a good time... The gigs were huge and alot of fun.

Now its all just about getting internet forum and scene points.

After seeing 'the worlds best' and our local psychobilly scene I can say that I think it absolutely sucks, I'd love to go to the meteors but I dont want them to drain any positive hope I may be storing regarding the genre of music.

Rockabilly on the other hand, I think our country has some of the best.

Bring it on.........

10-30-2007, 04:21 PM
I cant agree with you on the Horrorpops I thought their gig was fantastic great vibe and so forth. Nekromantix well I was just greatful to see them play finally as have been into them since brought back to life days and being one of my most fav it was probably the only time they are ever gonna get here. I know they keep saying they are coming back but........ As far as Tiger army didnt go but hubby said pub was packed and it turned the night to shit.
You gotta come to Meteors if for no other reason than this may be the only chance to see some more overseas psychobilly talent. As much as I love ZGT you can only see them so often, was a pity that Perfect Sin split and that a fireballs gig will in reality never happen again.
You talk old psychobillly scene what about Ward 9 (yeah I know they only played about 3 gigs) and Axemen????? And were you always in melbs???

Kimjar
10-30-2007, 08:39 PM
Well...I'll be there for sure, I don't know about anyone else!

As for Fritz's argument, I do agree on some points, especially re: Tiger Army. That show really wasn't the best night. I did however enjoy Horrorpops and Nekro. Saw ZGT on Thursday night and they were really really disappointing. I think it was quite possibly the worst I've ever seen them play (well...when they did actually play and not talk the whole time).

Long story short - I'll be at Meteors purely because I wouldn't miss out on seeing such an awesome band.

Quakin Jake
10-30-2007, 10:39 PM
... slant 6, the psyclones, bazooka joes , wild turkey, casino rumblers...

Forgive me if I'm wrong but wasn't this your band? :p hahaha, nice bit of self promition there :)

Also, the Adelaide show is now at the Lizard Lounge which should make for a much nicer night haha :)

Hee hee... Moon Doggies were awesome but I didn't even know who they were until a year after they split up when I got "Chasin' Pussy" from Greville Records and loved it. Hence, I never got to see 'em live.

billygal
11-17-2007, 06:07 AM
Dont think they did a demo tape they might have taped one of their gigs but it was more a muck around band. Singer Scotty Stone Guitarist Rick Munroe (H Block 101) Scotty Double Bass (TLE) and I think Joey on drums (TLE) still see the guys every now and then will ask if they got it on tape but dont think it would have been something they even thought about. LOL

I knew it was Rick, Scott and Joey.. I didn't know anything about a singer. There is some sort of recording in existence, a guy I used to trade TLE bootlegs with had one.. but he said he couldn't find it :( I also want to hear some Goodbye Sideburns Forever (Chris's old brit pop band).

I'm on the Moondoggies video clip for the song 'Pieces' it was filmed on Pitt St in Sydney on a wet sunday morning. I have shocking peroxide hair in it. Shakir from the Moondoggies and the Glenn drummer from The Louisville Sluggers both used to work at SMP in Sydney (SMP sponsored TLE in their early days)

11-26-2007, 03:34 PM
Yes, absolutely worth checking out. They got a pretty good wrecking pit going and it's worth going for the entertaiment factor alone.

Jack went to both gigs in sydney and liked them but he is a mad Meteors fan so they could have just stood there and sung nothing and he still woulda loved it.

I agree with you Simon on what you sent. Not a big fan but as psychobilly bands from O/s are very rare over here Im going anyway. Quite a lot that share the same opinion as me going. It will be interesting to see what they think of Melbourne as from what I have heard the boys over here are a little harder that the other states. ( No offence intended to anybody not from melb)

11-29-2007, 07:04 AM
Let's just say P P Fenech is a 'character'! Saying that I've put them on a few times in the past and he has always been a gentleman but there are always stories. He is very active on their websitewww.kingsofpsychobilly.com and is quick to tell people who are pissing him off that they are. Most of the gigs I have been to have been great, the last being the Calella festival where they were probably the best I have ever seen them. On the other hand one gig years back was poorly attended and the ones that were there weren't to receptive so PPF just threw his guitar on the floor, said 'Fuck You' and stormed off. Another occasion he hit some fella over the head with his guitar because he was pissing him off. Of course it all adds to the legend that are The Meteors and after all PPF was (along with Nigel Lewis and Mark Robertson) the start of Psychobilly. The bottom line is with Paul Fenech, love him or hate him, almost everyone (myself included) has great respect for him as the originator of Psychobilly who has kept it going for decades. Incidentally if anyone is interested in the very beginning of The Meteors as viewed by Mark Robertson the original drummer, he has been writing a series of fantastic blogs on the subject on his myspace page. http://www.myspace.com/markovdd

wasnt as terrible as I thought it would be. Meteors arnt one of my fav bands but they did a really great cover of Little Red Riding Hood. Casino rumblers apparently got booted off the tour due to ego's. Not sure who's though as the boys were walking around the pub before it got too full and sussing out the crowd so at least they didnt hide away all night.

12-03-2007, 06:58 PM
Casino Rumblers Kicked off because of "egos"?

Thats fucking laughable. Apparently Paul Fenech is the biggest headlover of 'em all. He's got no right to get on his high horse! Probably didn't like anyone who didn't lick his arse!

billygal
12-03-2007, 07:15 PM
didnt say it was their ego LOL. According to the boys they were being ripped off they didnt mention them being booted. Nobody will probably ever know the full story. According to Smith first he had heard of it was on the forums and he didnt even get a say on the band used to replace them. The Wrath and marching orders should have been on first leaving Vaudevillians as the only other psychobilly act to play just before them. But enough said just in that I think.

AlinaPOW
12-03-2007, 07:45 PM
Yeah i heard that Rumblers thought they'd be getting paid a certain amount by Smith but then it turned out that the money was actually coming from the Meteors camp and it gets a bit sketchy from there...

The Wrath AND Marching Orders... probably a bit much for a psycho gig, as much as i like 'em both...

It was especially since vaudevillians were on first. Ive heard some stuff floating around as to why it happened but at the end of the day it did and oh well life goes on. P Paul Fenich is the coolest dude ever. I had a big long yarn with him on Sunday about this and that, just an awesomely nice guy. Unfortunately due to ticket buying issues (venuetix not knowing anything about being the ticket sellers) it wasnt as big a turn out as it shouldve been and apparently a fair few people didnt know it was on but it was still a respectable crowd. The Meteors were totally rad and they say they're coming back in June for a bigger tour which should be rad and Fenich got our cds and contact details so we can play more shows with them when they come back. Needless to say I was pretty darn proud when the grandaddy of psychobilly is complimenting my band :D
