Fighting the scalpers

I Know its probably not really classed as Fighting them but i been talking with a few mates from work, and we are gonna buy tomorrow morning, as many tickets as we can to Big Day Out and Sell them at cost to our friends. I Just hate seeing ppl getting F'ed over by idiots charging $300+ per ticket. So if anyone else feels they have a few spare bucks i reckon do a good deed, and do what we are doing. Also if anyone cant get tix tomorrow, and want one morning sing out :-)

I really hope other ppl follow the same initiative :-) as im sure tickets will sell out in the first couple of hours!

Who'd even bother to go to that effort?

There are far better ways to fight scalp eg don't buy off scalpers, push for new legislation

doing the above...and scalping is selling for above cost.......Im selling the tix at cost! To friends mainly.

I think the scalpers are still gonna get their tickets, and so in my opinion your just stealing from everyone else to let your friends have the tickets instead. if you wanna stop scalping, come up with a guaranteed way to stop the scalpers from being able to buy or sell the tickets in the first place

IE put name and DOB on tickets......As we have been trying to push for ages now. Wont happen. I reckon ebay have shares in ticketmaster or vice versa!

Believe me, judging by the line at missing link already, whatever we dont buy scalpers will get anyway, so anyway if you want a ticket at $125 instead of $350 we have them :)

we wont be quite getting that many but im sure there will be a few ppl who dont wish to buy them from ebay, that will be happy to buy ours at cost price :)

The people who buy from scalpers annoy me almost as much as the scalpers themselves. Of course they're going to keep doing it as long as they keep getting money for it. If people just stopped buying from them, sure they might miss out on seeing the band but in the long run they'd have more of a chance of getting tickets in the first place.

Well supposing you want to go to a gig that's going to sell out quickly and miss out on tickets because they've all been snapped up by scalpers and there's no way you can get one for face value then that IS your problem.

Well supposing you want to go to a gig that's going to sell out quickly and miss out on tickets because they've all been snapped up by scalpers and there's no way you can get one for face value then that IS your problem.

Well how am I meant to know if it has or not? My point is that it does affect you even if you don't pay ridiculous amounts for a ticket because you miss out completely.

Well say at a concert where there's 10,000 tickets.

I'd expect roughly 100 would be bought for purely scalping purchases.
So unless you've got some way of finding out whether or not you were within the next 100 in line to get tix you were gonna miss out anyway

I'd say probably more than that would be bought for scalping, especially at a big concert. And even if it was only 100, that's still 100 more people that could have gone for the actual price.

You do realise that about one in 16 people last year BDO bought there tix from scalpers dont you grum?

I haven't bought tickets yet because I might be able to get hooked up with free tickets. Failing that, I'd go buy them. But if it's sold out I'll definitely get a couple off you (will you still have some in the next week or so?)
