Finally a timetable! *checks now*
Awesome. No major clashes from what I can see!
Just got an email:
More Tickets Now Available
A last minute release of Pyramid Rock Festival tickets is now available for purchase through Island Surfboards in Cowes, Phillip Island. These tickets are strictly limited and will not last long - if you have mates wanting to attend Pyramid, this is your last chance to purchase tickets.
You can call Island Surfboards on 03 5952 2578 for phone bookings, or visit them in person at 147 Thompson Ave, Cowes, Phillip Island. Please note, you will need to collect all tickets from the store directly, as there is not enough time to post out tickets.
Astoria!

I'm organised! It wasn't last minute at all. I had 3 hours to spare.
There better be mobile reception there, cause I kinda already promised my line-friends I'd call them when TLE plays.
Reception is always crap on New Year's Eve and I'm guessing that being on the island will make it even worse, but here's hoping it does! I'm hoping I can call at least *someone* while they're on.
Colezy
12-26-2006, 12:25 PM
I wanted someone to call me when they play or do the countdown (if they do) but I'll be at work and can't answer my phone :(
It'd probably make me more jealous anyway! :p

My magical new creative zen mp3 player has *duh du du NAHHH* a microphone! So I'll record the show. No promises it'll come out any good, but I'll try! :D
I suggest for the good of everybody who will listen to the recording, don't hold the mic near me :p

Anyways, I'll be near front of stage most of time. Hopefully for Numbers at least.

If possible, can someone get a few shots of Silverchair for me?? And TLE of course! :p
I'd rather not take my camera into the crowd but I'll try taking some photos on my phone and see how they turn out :)
Hopefully there will be some professional photos or something.

Come on guys! We need photos! :p
I want photos of the trip there, the bored looks of waiting in lines, the moshing, the eating, the camping, and all of the craziness that happens at a festival!!! :p
Please? Somebody? Anybody?

cdejonge
12-26-2006, 10:26 PM
I'll try to take photos on Day 0 (movie night) of tents (not mine, because I'll probably sleep in my car), food and the tents and stuff before the bands. Can't guarantee much after that though sorry.
Bec, you have to take photos. You tore that page out of my Beat! C'mon, Mel's doing audio, you can do the photos. :)
56-ish hours until I leave ...
I HAD NO PART IN THE TEARING OUT OF THE PAGE! That was Mel and/or Ally.
I guess I can try and take some photos but my camera is kinda bulky and I'm worried it'll get damaged or confiscated and I take shit photos anyway.
BUT I'll see if I can get our old camera to work. It's very tempermental and only turns on when it feels like it but I don't mind as much if anything happens to it and it's not as annoying to carry around.
Do people think I should record stuff on my phone? I've done it before at gigs and the sound quality is pretty dodgy but you can still tell what the songs are and stuff, so supposing Mel's mp3 player doesn't work out, would people rather a really crappy quality recording to nothing or should I not bother?
cdejonge
12-27-2006, 07:35 AM
Yeah, if you can be bothered recording do that Bec. But seriously, just enjoy the festival before anything else.
Mel, if you could record some Something With Numbers songs for me, that would be greatly appreciated.
It was Mel who ripped the page out. I was just an innocent bystander.. until of course I got a hold of the page.

Saw my friend Merrin this morning. She went to Pyramid with Bec and Mel and 'Trina and Caitlin and I could've cried. It sounded fuckin' awesome (when are the lads not?) and they were right on the barrier, Chris' side, so that's pretty rad. Apparantely Chris didn't have the right time on his watch so he started his countdown a bit after 12:00. And I'm so pissed off! I'd arranged to call Merrin at 11:55 so I could hear the countdown and her phone was off. Stupid scummy Samsung batteries!
Don't fret Llama! No one's phone was turned on, well, they were, there was just no service. My brother just got home and he said he tried calling me at 11:55 and he couldn't get through.
Oh wellz.

Anything obscure like the beloved Apeface?

I wish so badly that I was there, I almost convinced mum!
I would have just gotten the tickets and told them at least a week before hand.
Rhiannon
01-01-2007, 11:11 PM
There was some phone service, cause I called my friend when Roll On started. My phone went a bit retarded, but it worked.
They didn't play anything obscure, just the usual. There was Roll On [obviously], We Want More, All Torn Down, E-Boogie (Chris dropped the bottle during this), What's On Your Radio?, Prisoner of Society, Who's Gonna Save Us?, Wake Up, Second Solution, West End Riot.
I can't for the life of me remember what else, someone else can help fill in the gaps. Wasn't played in that order, either.
When Chris did the countdown it was exactly 12 by my watch. *shrug*

Pyramid was fucking awesome. Too much stuff to say. I'll try to summarise. Tell me if you want me to elaborate of any of the following. Some random stuff:
- People deciding to put their tent up next to me at 3am the first morning
- People having sex in the tent next to me one night and "You left your condom on the pillow you dirty prick!" being yelled out the next morning
- All the chaos around the camping area: people pumping their music loud and singing out ridiculously loud to people going past
- All the bands. I only didn't think much of Brank Bjorg and the Bros. Loved the variety of music and the vibe at the venue. Everyone was pissed but hardly anyone being dickheads in the crowd.
- I was impressed by people's setups for the camping area: rented trucks, flags, couches, huge covered areas, the works
- Last day I left was crazy. Took 5.5 hours to get out of camping ground. People were playing cricket while cars lining up, cars doing donuts, cars towing the rubbish bins with people in them, etc. More random stuff on the road: guys picking weeds and flowers from the side, guy giving chips to the squashed, dead bird on the road - I have heaps of photos and videos of this part of trip.
- There's heaps more that I can't remember now. I'll try to post later when I remember. I'll definitely go again if theirs enough decent bands playing this year.
If none of you saw Xavier Rudd, congratulations. You just wasted a festival, you losers.
If you saw Xavier Rudd, congratulations. You're admission fee would have been worth just seeing him.
OH MAN I WISH I WAS AT PYRAMID

Xavier Rudd was awesome. It was crazy how the crowd went off when he played, it seemed like every single person knew all the lyrics. It was a lot of fun. Except the nearly being killed by someone 'stage' diving off the fence part, who in turn was nearly killed when everyone moved out of the way and he hit the ground.
I would have loved to go! Xavier Rudd is amazing live. :)
Oh yeah, and TLE are great too. :p

I'm back, after a whole week away. I feel like recapping my pyramid time!
First day: didn't enjoy it. Too many drunken rowdy people, and I was kinda intimidated.
Second day: Barrier for the Spazzys and then we went and sat around near the back stage area until the Grates. We got the barrier and waited there until TLE (6 hours or something) The Grates were amazing, TZU were awesome and everyone else was also damn good.
Before TLE came on, we managed to get a wave from Rockstar Matty (YESM!) and then we saw Rae side stage, she looked around the audience and she saw us waving. That was kewel.
Then... The Living End. They are playin better than ever YET AGAIN. How do they do it? Bloody hell. Scotty was looking more relaxwd than ever, taking a smoke on stage while Chris was doing his thing. Between songs me and Merrin yelled out to Andy and after many attempts he looks over to us and gave us a salute. Woo!
The setlist wasn't anything special though, although, after they finished playing we all got dragged out from the barrier and ran past the stage, and someone on the stage dropped something and it floated gently into my arms
http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/4976/p1059160cg8.jpg
OH MY GOAWD!
They didn't play LLTW though
Anyway, afterwards we spent time waiting by the gate where the cars go in and out. We chatted to some other fans, we ended up discussing something and Merrin mentioned I was mel_bound and the random was like "You're mel_bound!?" Hehe. I'm famous!
I felt a bit helpless just waiting by the fence though, so I went around looking, I went to a bit of the fence where it wasn't tarp-ed so I could see through it, and who should be walking past but RAE! I yelled out to her and she came over and I gave her some things for TLE, and I think it was her husband who ran back and gave the shiz to the guys. I had a little chat to her and she said that TLE were going to make a 'quick escape' because they had to go to WA in the morning, which was fair enough. I went back to my stalker buddies and we left, because we woulda gotten in trouble had we been much longer!
All in all
TLE = better than ever
Rae = AWESOME
my neck = sunburned and horrible and peeling
my ears = ringing for the next 2 days

Thanks for that info Mel! Was good to hear, because Rhi and I were on the left of barrier so didn't know if you all got squashed or something :p Although, saw you later on, so guessed you didn't.
Alrighty, I'll try to keep it brief since other people have already posted about it
The festival was amazing - great atmosphere, everyone I talked to was really friendly and even though I was only interested in a few of the bands they all played really well
TLE were awesome as usual, it would have been nice if they'd played at least one song which wasn't a regular but I wasn't really expecting them to, and still, every time I see them they just keep getting better!
Sorry to anybody who tried to call me to hear TLE, the reception was awful, I couldn't contact anybody until about 1:30 and even then it wasn't great.
The rest of the week was pretty dull but not as bad as I thought it will be. There was some Kustom Nationals thing with rockabilly bands going on this weekend but we had to leave today so we just missed out on that.
I took a heap of photos, I don't think many of them came out too well because a lot were just taken on my phone but I'll upload the good ones soon :D
Cam - your guy picking weeds video won't work for me :(

Hmm, should work. Try this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4tzmbVOx8E
I might upload more eventually, or even one from other gigs. Is it cool to upload TLE videos?
Don't worry, I just realised youtube isn't working for me at all right now.
I dunno about uploading TLE videos, how good is the quality?

Haha, Cam just had to have a photo that involved food! :p
Sounds like you guys all had a great time!
Oh yeah - is that Rhiannon with Cam in the air burger photo??
I do believe so unless I've confused myself again!
I only just realised today that she was the same Rhiannon from the forum, I thought she was just a friend of Cam's. I'm so slow!
.. Hi Rhiannon! :D
I think it was her husband who ran back and gave the shiz to the guys.
That would have been Woody.

I just got back today, there's not really anything to add... fantastic atmosphere, fantastic music, fantastic just about everything else. The Living End were more than fantastic even if they didn't play anything unexpected and I had an awesome time.
There was some Kustom Nationals thing with rockabilly bands going on this weekend but we had to leave today so we just missed out on that.
I couldn't go to that thing cos we came home today and it was out at the race track, but last night there were a whole lot of hot rods in the street where we were staying and there was one or two rockabilly bands playing down the bottom of the main street near the jettyish thing. They sounded good but by the time we could get out there they were finished.. anyway the cars were pretty and I want one :P

Lmao, hi Bec! Nevermind, I probably wouldn't have made the connection either.
I had the most overwhelming urge to run the second you pulled that camera out haha. I pretty much hate cameras more than anything else on this Earth.

Dear Bec,
I too hate photos.
Love Cam
P.S. but it came out funny so was worth it.
P.P.S. those photos were good quality for a phone!
Dear Cam,
Blame Nicole! She said she wanted photos of everything.
Yeah, my phone takes pretty decent photos as long as the lighting is okay. I'm particularly proud of the one of the crowd with the whales :)
Love Bec
