I don't know about the Adeline one - but the one we got here in Australia is kickass. If there are any left on the online store you would be able to get one shipped over to the US or Canada (i'm assuming that's where you live).

When you get it tell us what number you got because there are only 500.

Apart from infringing the Copyright, yes we could. But we wont.

I dont quite follw?

i totally agree with not breaking the copyright,

The thing is, vinyls are better quality, they are written with a sample rate 96,000 times a seccone, and cd's are only at 44,100. so it's very noticable in the top end, symbols ect. So my predicament is that i already own the cd's but not the records (except SOE very soon) and the other records are not available to buy new for everyone anymore. so if the original recordings (prolly done at 192khz) were available on data cd, or even uncompressed dvd (which i think will play up to 96khz) then i would buy that. but that's not avail either. so if we are to record the records, at 96khz then not downsample them to 44.1khz, and just play them of the computer, we should get the full quality of a record!!

I have a DA/AD but it's max sample rate is 48.8 (DVD)

nad if we keep playing the records they'll eventually degrade in quality.

anyway, my thoughts, for the audio listener purist!! if tht makes sence!!

I won't bother arguing with your "audio purist" point of view. But I will bother pointing out that vinyls are analogue, and therefore do not have a sample rate at all.

really? Are you sure, like i know what you mean, but isnt there a maximum amount of groves that they can put it?

most websites seam to point to 96, i think

and yeh i mean symbals

anyway, the point still stands that if we record records at a sample rate high than 44.1 it should sound better than a cd, providing the gear is good quality

Vinyls have only one groove, and it follows a tightly-wound spiral. Ideally, vinyls don't have a sampling rate as John says, but I imagine they have a maximum frequency that they can record, owing to the physical limitations of cutting very fine wave shapes.

But yeah, CDs are digital, so they will forever be pixelating the sound wave.

I understand whay you are saying but at the end of the day, the human ear can't actually tell the difference very well between LP and CD. I can tell that my LP is better quality than my CD but if i listen to one or the other, it doesn;t effect my listening experience that much. For all your effort, i wouldn't bother converting n copying and all that because you lose quality every time you copy and in the end it will sounjd very much like the CD. The CD is good enough quality anyway and the LP is more of a collector's item rather than a listening device (especially when you already have the CD).

Oh, and by the way. Cymbols is spelt with a 'C'.

Oh, and by the way. Cymbols is spelt with a 'C'.

Not quite sure what word you're referring to, but whichever one it is you're spelling it wrong. There is "cymbal" or "symbol".

But yeah, I think audiophiles complaining about sound quality deficiencies of CDs are lame. If you think you can hear the sampling rate you're kidding yourself. Most people can't even tell the difference between a good quality MP3 and CD. I personally prefer CD - there is nothing wrong with CDs so quit bitching.

(Not that anyone in here was particularly bitching, but yeah. That's my point of view.)

Alas, but music drum cymbals is spelt with a C.

Either way, you spelt it with an 'O' before.

Benwarn
09-20-2006, 10:07 AM
lol, not really bitching, but if you have a decent sound system (say $3000) and a decent player ($300+) you can notice the dif! Also I agree that it is hard to notice a dif between 320kbps and audio cd, but it's still noticable.

And Unfortunatley I'm one of these people that if they can have it sound better, i will, i know it's silly, but yeh.

I have considered putting a record player in my car, just kidding!!

I just reckon that as we are no longer limited by file size problems that we may as well get better quality. that's all
