hello im craigels (gay name i know but thats what my sister calls me, it was that or craigybabe and obviously my name is craig but that was a bit plain) and this whole forum thing is new to me and i dont really know any of you so i thought i should make a thread, if its already been done or is just plain gay ill delete it so tell me if i do something stupid.

ok now to the question: what do your parents think of TLE, love them, hate them, 'the living WHO?!' or what they do when the song comes on. it doesnt have to be parents it can be brothers, sisters, friends anyone

ill start off. my dad likes prisoner of society, roll on and e-boogie. he says e-boogie is like a cowboy song () and at the end of every song he says 'hes pretty good at that guitar'

gee that post was long enough to be a novel!

My dad thinks they are pretty good. he doesnt 'not' like them but its not his favourite type of music either. if he sees them on tv or something he'll sit and watch and he recognises them on the radio even if he's never heard the song before. so i guess he doesnt mind 'em. he respects them too after watching parts the FHOI doco when i had it on and he was just you can see it in their eyes they love what they do haha lameo. i tried playing a couple of cds to my mum in the car, but she just isnt into music full stop so she wasnt really paying attention :p

Neither my Mum or Dad take any interest in my social life.
XD
I'm alone when it comes to a passion for music.
With everyone in my family. haha

if my mum sees a picture of Chris around she'll be like.. I recognise that guy. My dad probably knows a few songs but they're not overly fussed with TLE like I am!

My folks only know TLE as my long time obsession.
Other than that, I dont think they really think about them at all.
Wouldnt have a clue if they've ever even heard any songs.

The kids also have long suffered with my TLE fandom, but they at least like some TLE music.
Not sure how much is free will, and how much is brainwashing, but they'll often ask to put TLE on if we're driving around.
Lu likes to wear her S/T tee about, and Jack loves his tee signed by Chris.
So I guess they dont mind TLE... :)

Hehee, my mum recognises (and enjoys) Prisoner of Society, though the whole family was living in America while that was in the charts. Each time my dad hears a song by them, then asks who the band is, and I tell him it's the Living End, he'll ask "Where are they from?" I've told him they're a Melbourne band nine times now, I hope someday he'll remember...

Interestingly, my mum thought they were a British band, by the sound of them - and so did I, the first I hear them. My six year old cousin thought the same, which is funny, because the song he'd been listening to was What's On Your Radio (if it'd been something from the self-titled album, I would've understood...) Does anyone else know someone who assumed they were British?

I gave my dad some TLE records,he said they're good, and that's it.I think he remember them only as band that his daughter likes =)
my mum...well,we cruise around in her car pretty often,so I play TLE cd's sometimes.she likes acouctic songs, but anything louder/heavier is the reason to complain "ooohh my heart I hear how often it beats when we listen to "your music"(the way she calls any CDs I play - Stray Cats,QotSa,Madness,Bill Haley,White Stripes or anything else).
She thinks that "blood on your hands" and "rising up from the ashes" are good, though.(I know it beacuse she turned the volume up few times on these songs)
Also, she let me use her credit card when I want to icncrease my TLE collection = she respects my interests :)

my brother says he only likes from here on in, but I catch him singing songs like prisoner of society, roll on, wake up and tainted love as their version is the only one he knows :p I think my dad likes "that e-boogie thing" also hahaha

My mum quite likes them. She bought tickets for one of their shows years ago. She still likes them now, but not as much as I do.

My dad constantly forgets things about TLE like their names and stuff...but I always try to remind him. Otherwise I don't take an interest in his bands. Lol.
My mum likes Green Day but not so much TLE. She thinks they are too loud but sometimes she sings West End Riot for extended periods. When TLE were in Adelaide last, they let some parents in for free to the all ages gig at The Shores near the end of TLE's set. Mum said they were very energetic and that Chris looked younger in the flesh. Haha...so very nice of her! Then afterwards we were going to wait so I could meet them and she complained too much about the cold so we had to go.
My nanna doesn't seen to mind TLE. I should buy her a merchandise t-shirt for Christmas. Hehe!

They're just about the only band mum and dad don't mind me playing lol

You can understand how someone would make the mistake. Their early sound had a British tinge to it ie the whole rockabilly thing and then the way Chris sings also adds a little bit to that

my parents love them.
they love all TLE's older stuff.

My dad, after seeing some of the Super gig said "they are just about being roudy and not much actual music".
But he is quite scared of change when i comes to music.

My mum doesn't care much for anything unless its John Farnham.

Dad on the other hand likes his blues music (being in a blues band and all). At one point, he wouldn't listen to anything other than blues, until he heard a live version of ATD. He was all like PHWOAR that guitarist is awesome.

Then he borrowed my S/T and never returned it, same with Roll On.

i got some of my friends into them, i lent IFYOG to one of them and hes gone out and bought a heap more TLE and even his mum likes them now.
i lent MA and SOE to 2 other friends and their into them heaps now and one of them played wake up for a music assessment at school and the other played black cat.
i had my tab book at school and some girl said that chris and andy were hot.
my music teacher said their 'pretty good'.
my girlfriend likes rising up from the ashes and carry me home
most other people say that their ok.
and then theres the people who say 'the living end suck!'
but most of my family like them
when i put prisoner on the inside on dad sung along and him and mum laughed for ages when uncle harry was on

My Dad likes, them but he has a fantastically broad taste in music, like me. He loved State Of Emergency (i had to pry it from his fingers when i moved out), and Til The End is one of his all time favourites, although he'll sing along to alot of Self Titled too, because i played that non stop when it first came out! Dad hasn't been to a show yet, but will be coming to the next one in Adelaide i think.

Mum doesn't pay much attention, but she'd tell me if she hated them. She tends more to ask about what the TLE boys are up to, rather than actually getting into the songs!

I got my Dad into TLE. Which is only fair seeing as he got me into most of my favourite bands (The Clash, Green Day, The Jam etc.)

He came with me to see them when they supported Dropkicks and LTJ. Only went to see TLE. They blew everyone else out of the water anyway.

Not many people I know are aware of them though tbh, people have crap taste here. I got a few people into them though and they're now one of my friends favourite bands :D

My mum is aware of them as "that band you go and see" and dad doesnt listen t them but appreciates that they are awesome. Im with May on the "am i brainwashing my kids" bit. My 4 yr old always asks me to turn it up in the carand we often have a lounge room mosh to the supergig :)

I got my dad into TLE, his favourite song is Nothing Lasts Forever and I think Andy is his favourite member. My mum on the other hand has no idea who TLE are.
