Board Teething Problems

[The Dying Start]

Post up little things that aren't right, or need to be changed in due course.

All of us together should find most of the glitches and it'll help Woody work out what needs to be done.

DON'T post rediculous suggestions...and try to keep on topic so it can be read by everyone and information can actually be gleaned from the posts herein.


First up:

*Enable Avatars
*Enable Images In Signatures
*Perhaps get rid of a few of the Grey fade bits in quotes and stuff....if this is possible.
*Reduce the size of some of the fonts.

I have a suggestion but it's nothing major but I really wanted to add something to this thread. The forums main title says "Forums - Powered by vBulletin" Maybe change it to say "TLE Official Forums" or something along those lines. I'm almost sure most people haven't even noticed or for one care, but I wanted to add something so :p

Yeah that is true, you can always slowly do it over time anyways. I've never actually designed my own forum skin fully, I've only changing a bit of the Css to suit on the forums I've worked on.

Go to user cp, then edit options and you can change it from 5-40 per page from there :)

Anybody else had the problem where they've just looked at a new post in a thread, then go back to the main threads page and it says there's a new post there?

Then if you click on the thread you just looked at, go back to main page again, it says no new posts.

problem solved: when you're in say General Endness and you get the list of threads and it says last post by Yvonne and you click on that name you get directed to the profile of the person that ACTUALLY posted the last reply, not the person whose name appears. So if say Glenn posted something while I was looking at the list of threads, then I will be taken to his profile instead of mine.

This can be changed in your user options to whatever you want, but I agree that the default should be put back up to 20.

Otherwise, I think this board needs more red. Other cosmetic changes could be suggested, but we'll get used to this one.

Also, when I followed the links after registering to set up my options/avatar, some settings weren't remembered. The avatar upload box at this point also says the limit is 2kB. Maybe I just have exceptionally bad timing, and Woody fixed it in the couple of minutes it took to get between there and the board proper?

Yeah there are settings on here that allow images to be uploaded.....that's a very dangerous situation...it will clog the board up in no time...so IMG tags need to be turned on and upload functions turned off.

it's user specific
user cp -> edit options -> thread display options -> posts per page.

i've set mine to 20, seems reasonable, but i wouldn't know where to edit the default settings for everyone, sorry

I'm an Admin on another board...and the person who own's the site made a game forum...spam and post count booster galore. Bugs the heck out of me.

Whenever I lock a certain thread and or ban someone for a supposibly the "wrong" reasons...I get yelled at and this big argument starts between the staff and other members. They need to grow up.
