after sending the address?

Colezy
01-22-2008, 02:59 PM
Yeah. I sent them an email saying I was interested blah blah blah and then they wrote back with:

Hi there

Thanks so much for your interest in joining the street team! By joining, you are helping us to spread the good word, and you are also in with the opportunity of hearing new music early, receiving signed CDs and merch, meeting the band and even winning tickets to shows and festivals. The street team is purely online, so you don’t need to go flyering around your city. We need you to email your friends with band news, post info and news on your friend’s myspace pages, add info to your blogs, play the music on Last FM, watch the videos on Youtube so the playcounts rise...basically anything and everything that you can do online to spread the word about our bands.

The street team encompasses a number of bands (listed below). You can choose to work for your favourite band only, or for a number (or even all) bands. You can do as much or as little as you like. Every month, we’ll select a number of street teamers to reward with merch, CDs and tickets. But to be in the draw to meet your favourite band or go in the draw for a big prize like festival tickets, you’ll need to send us a little update every so often (usually every month or two). These updates don’t need to be too detailed, but we just need an update of where you have been posting (including screen shots where possible) and what you’ve been doing to spread the word. Several major winners will be drawn every year, so get creative and work out unique ways of getting the music heard.

In addition to this, every month we’ll have an artist campaign. But by street teaming the artist for that month, you still go in the draw to win prizes from your favourite artist (so by street teaming The Grates in August, you’ll still go in the draw to win Living End prizes). This year, we have big campaigns for The Living End, The Grates, Tokyo Police Club and Yves Klein Blue, amongst many others.

So all we need from you to finalise your membership is your full name, city, state, country, date of birth and a list of the below artists you’d like to receive rewards from (can be more than artist). We’ll be in contact soon with details of the next campaign.

STREET TEAM ARTISTS
The Living End
Powderfinger
Bernard Fanning
The Grates
Sarah Blasko
The Panics
Expatriate
Whitley
Yves Klein Blue
Tokyo Police Club (Australia/NZ campaigns only)
Shout Out Louds (Australia/NZ campaigns only)
Tilly and the Wall (Australia/NZ campaigns only)
Dr Dog (Australia/NZ campaigns only)
Dropkick Murphys (Australia/NZ camaigns only)

If you ever want to cancel your street team membership, all you need to do is email us at this address letting us know you wish to unsubscribe.

Cheers

Sarah

Bec
01-22-2008, 03:30 PM
All I did was send an e-mail to them saying I'd like to join and I haven't heard anything back. Should I try again?

Sarah
01-22-2008, 03:59 PM
yeah, it wont hurt to send them another one :)

The Dying Start
01-22-2008, 08:19 PM
Definately won't hurt, but there's always the risk they'll get sick of you and ban you for life.

Bec
01-22-2008, 09:58 PM
Oh wait I'm an idiot. I did get the e-mail I just missed it somehow.

hi everyone new 2 forums :D
first post, nothing special to say except I sent an email 4 days ago and I haven't recieved a reply.. Was I too late? I would have thought this would have been an ongoing thing that you could sign up to in six months or something haha... Maybe I should email again?

Jonnno
01-29-2008, 07:03 PM
Nah you should be 'right, give it a few more days then maybe email them again if they haven't replied.

Kacky
01-31-2008, 03:09 AM
Ah, not that I know of.

Buzz
01-31-2008, 10:17 AM
Yep, I got a reply! :D

They should make a myspace for this street team, so they could communicate with us easier. That is if everyone has myspace. :S

Myspace suck the big one.

01-31-2008, 07:30 PM
I dunno how seriously I'm gonna take this thing yet, but I'm just damn glad it isn't a pissy Myspace deal.

Sarah
02-01-2008, 12:22 AM
haha, I'm glad it's local-based, unlike the Adeline one!

Colezy
02-01-2008, 01:22 AM
Yeah same. And I'm glad that you actually had to go to the effort of sending an email to them, rather then just joining a myspace page.

I hope we get more TLE updates via email, not myspace, in the future. I haven't had an email upadte from them in ages!

Did anyone else have a little Outlook Express window pop up when they clicked the link? I did and when i pressed send it said "error" and didn't send.

Colezy
02-02-2008, 11:01 AM
Sometimes when you click on an email address link, outlook automatically opens up, even if it's not your default email host. You just need to copy the address and send them an email like you would normally to anyone else.

Sarah
02-02-2008, 11:02 AM
um, don't think so. do you use email with outlook? just send it though your hotmail or whatever you use.

did everyone get the update yesterday...lots of myspace stuff :p haha

i don't know if i like the idea (actually i don't at all) of spamming other bands that i don't necessarily even like to get brownie points towards stuff for bands i do. I can see why they're doing it, it's all just free publicity...but i don't think i agree with it.

going back a few years now when the first street team was alive i had all there links on my myspace.. i think my 5th coment was from tle

"Hey Deano! Thanks for plugging the street team and stuff on your page! Nice work and thanks heaps for the support and shit"

"support and shit" thats true australian rock language

Colezy
02-03-2008, 11:48 AM
I think that my second ever comment on my current myspace page was from TLE back at the start of 2006.

And on my old page from before 2006, my first comment was from them too :p

Kacky
02-03-2008, 11:51 AM
I have a few comments from them, and a lot of them are just repeated with..."See you in Canada!" etc. I felt ever-so-special when they told me I was awesome. :p

Colezy
02-03-2008, 12:09 PM
Haha, part of one of mine said "awesome disaplay photo"

It was of me before I went to melbs for the festy hall gig, holding up my ticket in front of a TLE poster with a big cheesy grin on my face :p oh dear!

Kacky
02-03-2008, 12:45 PM
Haha. Naw, I'm sure it was a cute picture. :p

Colezy

ooo so is this street team still going on?/if i apply now is there any point :p?

Sarah
06-18-2008, 12:32 AM
If you want to join to support and promote the band/label then yes, there is still a point.

If you want to join to get freebies you may be at a disadvantage for joining a bit later than others...

And yes its still going on as this thread is only like a couple of months old :p
