I've taken on VCE music this year, and I needa do a solo performance doing 2 songs...I've established my first song to be "Ubangi Stomp" but for my 2nd song I wanna to a TLE cover only Chris is so nuts on guitar I dunno which would suit my sorta playing....
I'm not a beginner but not an expert.
I'm kinda in the middle like...I can do barre chords fine, I know the chords, I can't do those wicked solo's Chris does...so any song I'll probly forget about the solo... but just can't figure out a song which is easy enough to play infront fo the class.
Somethin simple enough so I don't screw up too badly coz I get bad stage fright when it comes to playing gutiar infront of people.

Give us a hand??
Anyone??

Do something everyone will know. Go with Prisoner of Society, just make sure you can nail the solo or simplify it if need be.

Personally, I think it's always good to have two contrasting pieces but if you really want to do a TLE song, All Torn Down would be the safe bet.

Thats a good point. Last year I had to do something similar so I played closing in and then a quiet bruce mathiske song.

I always struggle with the contrasting songs. I think I did Eternal Life by Jeff Buckley and Another Brick in the Wall by Pink Floyd for the 2nd semester last year and Mojo Pin by Jeff Buckley and The Wind Cries Mary by Hendrix for the 1st.

This year I don't know what i'm doing because my new teacher doesn't want me to do what i've been practicing over the holidays and wants me to play a song I learnt last year that my previous teacher told me not to play. Fuck teachers.

I did save the day a couple years ago at school, the song overall including the solo is pretty easy and it sounds pretty good by itself.

Have you got audio/video footage of 'closing in' i'd like hear you play it.

If you have a violin bow you could bust out this shiz: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BG-aoRWjLdE

otherwise Bringin It All Back Home could be worth a look in. sounds easy enough *shrugs shoulders*

All Torn Down (solo ain't so tough)...... or possibly Wake Up, although singing over the initial guitar line might need some getting used to.

I've been picking up bits and pieces of All Torn Down for a while now...
And Second Solution(either on bass or guitar)...so possibly one of those..
If not I'll do Wake Up.

I'm not singing..It's just going to be the instrument.

Nah I dont but I think I'll record it just for fun sometime.

In fact if anyone can make me a drum track for it I would love to put down bass and guitar on that/

it being april now im guessing youve already chosen your songs...but like the other people think 'closing in' is actually a really great song, its kinda simple-minus the ridiculously fast section, the best thing about it too is that theres no singing-so you wont be left there looking like an idiot playing chords with no singing...

Deadcat Kaye

hahaha you'ld think that i'ld have my songs chosen. :p

But no, 1 will be a TLE song..
dunno about the other.

I know sooooo many people who have done closing in I think at least every examinor in every state would've heard it at least twice. seriously! thats why I didnt do it. It would be a killer choice if no one else has done it especially because of the time sig it goes into

Too lazy to scroll through the whole thread

but
has VCE solo changed in the past ... 8 years?
When I did it we had to pick from a pretty specific set of songs ...
