driving in the utes would be way harder than the sedans, you've got nowhere near as much downforce (and therefore traction) on the back end

unfortunately though, as the road toll also suggests, as cars get faster any crashes they're in tend to get quicker too

Whincup won the round, Lee Holdsworth in 2nd and Cameron McConville in 3rd ...

Lowndes took Courtney and Winterbottom out (both had a few words to say about Lowndes) and all three ended up as DNF's.

The utes always have spectacular results - the accident today was shocking though. The back ends are just so fricken light!!

He wasn't in the utes. He was in the VZ Commodores in the Fujitsu round.

Kylie - that's exactly what my godsister says :)

First of all my thoughts go out to Ash and his family, it must be horrible for his wife with two young kids to look after.

Secondly, Craig Lowndes phails!
And thirdly, well done to Jase and Murph for cracking into the top ten today. I fell asleep half way through the race again though so i'm not really sure of what else happened today lol

Despite the fact that he's a defector, Craig Lowndes is a top bloke.

The Sweeper is the best corner in the history of Australian motorsport, we've had some bobby dazzlers at that corner over the years!

So that young guy died did he? :S

I remember meeting Lowdsey one year at some Holden event. Whilst he wanted to keep signing autographs, his bosses/management/whoever kept pulling him away. He kept telling them they've got plenty of time and to keep their pants on. He was quite happy signing autographs, being in pictures and chatting about stuffs.

The same thing happened with him when he came to Tassie a few years back to be a guest speaker for a charity dinner held at my work. He didn't care that there were fans lined up wanting stuff signed, but management on the hand were getting annoyed that he wanted to stay and chat to people.

I don't see what the problem was. It was 10pm on a friday night, he had to stay until the end of the dinner, so he couldn't go anywhere anyway, and I had overheard him earlier in the night saying that he didn't have anything planned for the next day until his flight home at 3.30  It's not as if signing a few autographs was going to keep him up all night and would cause him to be late for his plane the next day or anything!

R.I.P Ashley Cooper who died at 1pm today Adelaide time. A top bloke who will be sadly missed, my thoughts and sympathy are with his family, friends and everyone involved with the race team.

Commodowned.

I find that pretty inappropriate and highly offensive given the situation.

Sorry didn't realise you personally knew the bloke.

It's not really a question of Knowing the person...but general respect.
And i'm not alone on thinking that it kind of breached the boundaries of respect.

I respect the bloke, thought he was a good racer and good bloke.

I guess people are just that sensitive these days.

This is a tragedy on numerous levels, obviously you don't want to see people get hurt, or die. But now we're going to be hearing about how unsafe motor racing is, and we'll soon have people trying to change V* touring car racing into 4cyl shopping trolley racing with padded walls for all street circuits.

They know the risks, but they want to race. Let them race. The sport is clearly as safe as it can possibly be.
