Man I hate U2 and I hate tainted love!. But through the living end not only can I take it I really liike it! If I'm missing any let me know hah. Also who agrees??

oh by the way the living end are umm maybe one of three bands that can make me like song I otherwise hate so that's a talent right there. But I reckon the living end are one of the most talented bands around period

yeah, the Living End really did bring a new appreciation to those two songs.
I love the Sunday Bloody Sunday cover.

haha - i loved Sunday Bloody Sunday (the cover) so much that i have it as my mobile phone ring tone!

but it's a monophonic phone and i had to type it in myself...

i suppose it shows the amont of love for their version of the songs...

they have definitely (thanks to Ally for posting the correct spelling of this word in a different thread) exposed me to things i may never have listened to or liked...

yay them - i think that's why i have so much love for the boys and their music

I had some TLE tones i made but I got rid of them all, I can't stand to hear a good song being 'beeped'!

Yeah I don't really like U2 but the cover is awesome. I also prefer TLE's Leilani to the original, it seems to have so much more energy or something.. hmm. And Girls On Film. I love that cover :D

*M!

hehe - beeps are cool though mel! :p

but i'm not only talking about covers...

for instance i'm listening to Casey Chambers and TLE - Crossfire
and i love it... yet i can't stand Casey... go figure!

i also love the resurrection shuffle...

they just bring sooo much fantasticness to my life i would never be able to find the right words to let them know it...

Blue Moon of Kentucky has always been brilliant but TLE-efied, and something magic happens!
Man, i can't STAND U2, sorry to the mass amounts of people that like 'em. But TLE's cover of Sunday Bloody Sunday is easily one of my favourite songs.
Tainted Love... i defintely like the TLE version better but having said that, its a great song by itself, it really is so bad its good!
Casey Chambers voice is horrendous and yet...Crossfire is bearable. Isn't that only Chris though, not all of TLE?
Woot! Resurrection Shuffle is insane! BARNESY!!

Hahah this is great. It's "Kasey" with a K and no-one cares ahaha.
nah it's TLE with Kasey for Crossfire, you can hear the double bass in some of it. Chris sang a song with Sarah McLeod however, without the rest of TLE. I love The Superjesus and I was really happy with the collaboration. "she's just a private school kid school kid whore" DUH DUH DUH DAAH

anybody knows how it's weird when you hear some The Living End song, but some time past and somewhere you read that it was a cover.don't like these moments, cos still in ignorance i think about TLE's absolutely genius, and then where's a bit of disappointment.
PS - it doesn't mean what i don't like their own songs,of course i doooo!!
PPs - i'm so slow at recognising covers just because i knew some bands only after TLE's cover of their song.

The thing is though, they make the majority of those covers their own. The Living End touch and there is such a huge difference so cover or no cover, its still genius.

Bad Boy For Love (Chris at the Jack Awards)

If you're gonna include that you'd wanna include Evie Parts 1 and 3, with Chris and Berlin Chair with Andy.

And you can add "She Always Lies" and "Get Off My Cloud" to the Runaway Boys list.

Although they did TONNES of covers, those two were on the demo tapes.

You'll be interested to note the track i belive you all are referring to, the 198o's synth/pop song is actually a cover itself!!!

Tainted Love was orginally a soul record. Recorded by Texan Soul Singer Gloria Gones in 1964.

The 45 became very popular with British soul and disco DJ's in the 70s. It was then in 1981 that english pop group Soft Cell recorded it, and had a subsequent hit.

So there you go, as always, it all started with the blues baby!

P.S. Girls On Film was originally a James Brown record... Nah just kidding!

The Dying Start
09-24-2006, 02:27 PM
I think most of us knew that, but it's usually referred to as "the Soft Cell cover", because Soft Cell had a big hit with it.

Hahaha so, so true!! Me and my friend looked him up in google images, just for fun and there was a picture of him naked with a deer on his lap... right.
