on that note if you think it might be you bringing this shit here, download spybot search and destroy. it might help a little because what is most likely happening is that you have spyware installed on your computer, this realises you like WoW, and also visit or post here (you don't have to be a member on the forum) so it is targeting its advertising on YOU! the spam bot is posting it here because it knows you come here and you have an interest in WoW (and all the other crap on here) thus you are likely to click on this stuff.

i've found it easier to click on the spammers username to view their profile, then click "Find all posts by weiwei" and it brings up everything they've posted so i can just select the ones in my section and delete them all in one go

Spam is getting crazy. on my email account that I really like the name of, it's at the point where I skim the names and subjects to see if anything is from someone I know, and I clean out my mailbox whenever it reaches 100. that is with it being run through 2 spam filters, except for when I check it at school. Optus emails me the spam filter results-most of the mail it processes it picks up as spam. and as a girl, I don't really want to grow my penis.

I found a cool mod for VBulliten that makes you answer a simple question and they can be customized too, which is pretty cool.

Update the board version. Simply by making sure we running on the latest version of the board fixed up the spam problem on another forum I moderate. That shouldn't be too hard to do here.

Other thing to do would be tp use a Captcha image for the registration...although I can't remember if the forum already has one or not now...><

I've deleted about 30-40 spam threads in Headlines today. It seems as soon as I delete one another one appears. The times of the threads show that they are being posted 6 mins apart so it's probably some automatic dealy.

I'm gonna email Woody in the morning to see if he can turn on our IP banning priveledges so they can be controlled a bit better.

Got a reply from Woody this morning. We'll be able to IP ban spammers fairly shortly. So that means less frequent / next to no spam.

The majority of our spam comes from the same IP addresses, so thats gonna be curbed!

He was also advised (again) of the temp forumz if he needs to shut these forums down for maintenance.

If they add the verify email and captcha that will reduce it too + some plug-ins. The other board that I work for they added plug-ins and captcha (at least I think they did...), and it has reduced spamola pretty good considering the shit-load of members and traffic they get.
