I wanna go to Newcastle, Glasgow and London. I put my holiday notice in today. Now I need to figure out the cheapest way to get from one place to the other. My first estimate was 350 Euros.

Jake
09-06-2006, 07:09 AM
Was that flying? If you book early enough, that can work out cheaper, but not always. Megabus and National Express are coach services, Megabus are known for their really cheap fairs (although you get what you pay for - perhaps not the most comfortable) and National Express are reliable. Of course these both take longer.
Train is pricey again, but quicker than coaches.

Of course, if there's a group of you coming or more people are wanting to get between them, perhaps all chipping in and hiring a car would work? Just the problem of parking, but that would probably only be trouble in London to be quite honest.

As you can tell, I've thought far too much about this. Ho hum. Either way, hopefully see you there!!!

I'm so frickin' jealous of UK folk! We got screwed over with End of Fashion and Red Riders. And lets not forget the disgrace of KissChasey last time!
The Living End AND Less Than Jake AND Dropkick Murphys! That's an orgasmic lineup! But i guess it sorta makes up for the boys not going over there all that often *sigh*

I'm going along to the Nottingham and London dates. Awesome lineup, too. But here's still hoping for a headline tour next year, when the album is finally released over here.

Why the hell can't we get less than jake and dropkick murphys??? this is unfair, how can i contact the living end to tell them to bring that lineup to Australia??? two of my favourite bands playing together and i we cant even see them!!!!!
now i'll have to buy tickets twice, on for the emergency shows, as well as ltj's melbourne show.

boohoohoo.

how would you like seeing TLE play only for 30-45 minutes?? cause that's what's gonna happen in the UK (most probably, being the openers and all).

Thats the best thing about this tour methinks..... The Living End go on first then Less Than Jake and The dropkick Murphy's have to try and do better than them! Look, I like Less Than Jake and DKM but musically TLE put them to shame. They will certainly be a hard act to follow!

Imagine what this tour could do for the Poms/Jocks/Paddys and TLE's career in that part of the world....

It'll be like Oz Invasion where TLE shamed the "headliners" :D

As for those people bagging the line up we have.... all I can say is that times have changed. TLE aren't just some snotty punkablly trio (anymore anyway LOL! /jk) appealing exclusively to youth. In my opinion, they are now at a point in their careers where they have to appeal to wider audiences and a larger demographic and if bands like End Of Fashion are chosen as supports it makes sense. They are trying to, metaphorically at least, get bums on seats and help out fellow Australian artists.

You might be suprised.... show up early and check out the supports.

What are those venues like?

Look, as long as TLE make frequent visits to Edinburgh once I'm (hopefully) living there, I'll be happy!

simonnott
09-11-2006, 09:24 PM
They are big venues, Exeter being added on 14th has made my year, just down the road, 14 miles from where I live! Billy No Mates have now been added as support too and the shows look to be 7.30 starts so who knows we could get a TLE hour, the other bands will have to give it some to follow our boys I'll tell ya that for nothing!

thesheltercrew
09-11-2006, 11:16 PM
What are those venues like?

Nottingham Arena has a capacity about 10000 people, so if that fills up, then there could be a few more TLE fans by the time Less Than Jake hit the stage.

Jake
09-12-2006, 02:52 AM
Capacity of Brixton Academy is about 4,500+, and bands such as Rancid and Lostprophets have played there - it's a relatively popular venue for the more popular bands, given the larger capacity but not being Wembley Arena!!

Straw - There are several ticket websites that you could also try, but I'm not sure if they post to Europe. Otherwise, keep trying Ticketweb.

Aloud (http://www.aloud.com)
Ticket Master (http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk)
See Tickets (http://www.seetickets.com)

If they aren't any good, contact me via PM and I may be able to help you out another way :)

Yvonne
09-12-2006, 06:15 PM
ah shit, those venues are too big for me to get to front row!!

In other news, I just booked my flight to the UK. Next step: Purchasing train tickets, then getting cheap but good hotel rooms.

sumo
09-14-2006, 07:52 AM
Yvonne if your looking for cheap hotels in newcastle there's a formula one hotell just outside the city which is pretty cheap, if your going to the gig at the academy it holds 1900 but has good views from all areas hope this helps

chiefdave
09-15-2006, 02:12 AM
hoping to hit London, Nottingham and Birmingham, i'm guessing at times running something like:
Billy No Mates 7.15-7.45pm
TLE 8-8.30pm
Dropkick Murphys 8.45-9:45pm
LTJ 10-11pm
Unless they put Billy No Mates on at doors and give TLE 45mins.
Remember to get there early to queue as some of these venues are very slow at getting people in.

Hi, I'm Moose and I'll be going to the Academy.

V excited to be seeing the band, though a headline tour would be much preferred. Unlike most of you on here I'll be able to walk home from the Academy, which is good as I am a fossil, even slightly older than Simon - my concern was being the oldest person in the venue by 20 years, so I'm pleased its not so.

Anyhow I would still go - I've been watching the Astoria DVD with my 5 year old to day. What a great concert film!

Hope there is enough TLE fans for some atmosphere!

Regards...

living in the uk and being deprived of seeing TLE live which i managed to do in sydney all the bloody time i am overly excited with nervous anticipation for seeing them in nottingham not bothered about seeing the other 2 bands as they can not compare by far TLE are the best live show ever

Moose

Yes - I am not too bothered about the rest of the line up, though I'll have a look. TLE haven't made a big impression in the uk - a bit of airplay and I'm sure they would.

You'll have to get the in-store radio at HMV to stop playing Razorlight for two minutes and stick them on.

Servus - long time no see, y'all..

I'm just doing the London show - was going to make it a little excursion, stay and see Australia v Ghana on Wednesday, but I've gotta think of Uni :-/

So, I'm flying over from Germania Saturday arvo, doing the gig, flying home Sunday morning. Anyone for hanging out after the gig? My flight's not 'til 7am :D

Speaking of 'post-gig' stuff - has there been any word as to whether the guys will be chatting to fans after the show (or while the headliners are playing). I'm not used to seeing TLE as a support act, so I don't know how it works *lol*

I'll be at the Newcastle show - not really fussed about watching the other bands as I got tickets just because TLE are playing. I'll probably hang about and see what the others are like, though. If I don't like 'em, I'll just clear out and go to the pub :)

If anyone from out of town needs any advice on where to go, what to do, etc just PM me and I'll help in any way I can.

First post on the new boards.

So, I seen the guys in Belfast in last night, and it was my first time seeing them. It'd been a long eight years wait but it was worth it. Wow. I have never seen a better live band...ever.
They were drinking in the bar prior so I got to meet with Chris and Andy (who I was taller than and I'm only 5ft9, I'd always assumed they were tall), both unbelievable guys. Chris is excellent, and is always giving out lame jokes haha, it's brilliant. Andy is a top bloke, great to talk to, and they seemed happy to meet with a fan.

The show itself surpassed all expectations. I'd seen them live on video so many times and through the two dvds but seeing it first hand, in the front row singing along to every song was a different experience altogether.
They had the audience in awe. I left before the Dropkicks but I got some merch and got my monies worth and more.

The set (not in order) was;

'Til The End
Roll On
We Want More
What's On Your Radio?
Nothing Lasts Forever
Prisoner Of Society
Second Solution (unbelievable live)
Into The Red
E-Boogie
West End Riot

EBoogie was fairly extended last night. I've seen and heard a lot of versions but this one had an extended slide outro, very very cool.

Great night. Anybody at this, or the Dublin show?

I went to the Dublin show on the 7th....it was awesome!!!
The guys absolutely rocked - it was one of the best shows ever.
They were really well received by the crowd as well which was great - hopefully introduce them to a whole new batch of fans.
Also, got to meet Chris before the show. We were in line and he just came past - he was really interested in talking to us when we told him we were from Melbourne - he actually had to get dragged away to get ready for the show!! He was such a great and really nice guy. He could of so easily blown us off but he didn't!!!!
Anyway - awesome show....TLE were waaaaay better then the Dropkicks!!!!
Also - Into the Red was absolutely fantastic live!!!!

Was at the Newcastle show last night. TLE were , quite simply, amazing.

This is not the kind of music my family and friends listen to, but my brother (a death metal fan) reluctantly agreed to come with me. After the set was done (far too short, but worth every penny) he turned to me and said "They were ******* great!". Fifteen minutes into the Dropkick Murphys set, we left. They were awful (in my opinion).

I was grabbing a beer between TLE and the DMs and everyone in the queue for the bar was talking about TLE and how much they enjoyed the show - it was pretty good to see.

I hope they don't take so long to come back this way. They've got plenty of fans in Newcastle, and they're getting new ones each time they visit!

Great stuff.

Was at the Glasgow gig last night. Did't have the best place ever (up on the fucking balcony where we weren't allowed to stand- I know, really upset me) Nonetheless the boys put on an awesome show and really got people into it by the end. Shame their set couldn't have been a bit longer but I guess that's just how it has to be. Damn good show though.
Met Chris in the bar downstairs afterwards, had a bit of banter; he's such a good sport for letting everyone talk to him and take photos and everything. What a bloody nice guy!
worth every penny of the money I paid fo' shizzle.

Hey guys, first time poster here.
Saw the band at Newcastle and was totally blown away.
Been a fan since the first album.
Never seen them before thursday night.
Was right infront of Chris all night with my girlfriend Bethan. he looked at us a few times cos from the start we were the only two at the front bouncing and singing all the words.

There was a few intolerant DKM fans shouting 'Bring on the murphys' which I thought was really bad manners.

Anyways, awesome show.
My friend Warren managed to meet the guys outside when Less than Jake were on and he tried to ring me to put Chris on the phone but my mobile was on silent.
So he got Chris to record a video message for me and my band, which is on our myspace profile under videos.

Can't frigging wait, its been way too long, and when i was at the astoria last time i got forced into the bloody balcony! not this time! It is gonna rock. And what an awesome line up to, TLE with DKM! whooo!!! Apparantly billy no mates only play like 3 or 4 songs then the living end have half an hour and then i duno bout DKM or LTJ. The living end better come over for a proper tour sometime though. I recon this will boost there popularity loads over here though so yay!

Newcastle was good, Glasgow was much better. DM-fans shouting during the set on both nights. I wonder what it will be like tonight, can't wait.

I'm insanely jealous of anyone who gets to go to this tour, you lucky bastards.

Starting the night with a short sharp energetic TLE set. I'd get ridiculous just for that. Finally got to see them in Townsville not too long ago and the night went off.

Then Less Than Jake. Nothing much in life is more fun than dancing to ska. They have some brilliant songs and I bet they'd go off live.

Then the Dropkick Murphys are pretty much my favourite band, ever. I couldn't count how many times I've watched all their live footage on their DVD, but I'm yet to see them live, what with being a 'regional Australian' and all.

All three bands must just ooze energy up there. Ahhhh!

End jealous rant.

how good were they at brixton last night - amazing. and to get that kind of reaction as a support band at a london gig (where everyones usually too cool to show any appreciation) was pretty incredible. seems like quite a lot of people paid up just to see the boys, pretty impressive when tickets are £20 a go (that about AUS$50). Seems incredible that with that kind of support over here they can't get anyone to put the album out.

Is anyone going to the gig in Manchester? I've been waiting so long to see these guys and almost saw them at Big Day Out a few years back but couldn't go. I've dragged my mates along too so I just know they're going to go crazy when TLE come on. Also, I have one spare ticket if anyone needs one, if not I'll have to flog it to a tout or something. Hope everyone has fun at the gigs etc, just know it's going to be flaming awesome, hope I can get to the front! :D :D :D :D

I took my partner and little brother to the Glasgow Gig, thats the first time I've seen the Living End. They totally rock live and they put the other acts to shame. The only disappointment was TLE didn't play long enough, they have more than enough songs to play for 1-2 hours.

They should be headlining and from what I saw there are enough TLE fans in the UK to justify them headlining. However, I have an idea in order for them to become even bigger here, they should consider playing at T in the Park or other big festivals.

I really can't wait until they come back, my cousin in OZ has seen them loads and has done some artwork for them.

Roll on!!! your return to UK and keep your heads held high. :D

Ah, finally have my voice back... sleeping in that bus terminal Sunday morning probably didn't do it any good. Whose stupid idea was it to fly over on Saturday and back on Sunday morning, anyway? Hmmph.

So, Yvonne, what happened to you after Brixton? The last Jake and I saw of you, you left us in the VIP bar and headed backstage. After Jake got all dewy-eyed over Chris, and ugly american girls started slapping my bum, I walked Jake to the Tube, but when I got back I couldn't find you anywhere! Not in the VIP bar, not in the dressing rooms (which, I want to say, were small and kind of scungy), and none of the backstage could remember seeing "the short German girl with pink hair and tatts".

You ditched me to go hang out with Scott and Andy, didn't you! :p So much for inviting me to crash at your place...

... stupid bus terminal *grumbles*

P.S. Jake's finally a real-life groupie! She got to touch Chris! Ooooh-errr, don't tell her mum :D

Good on all you guys who saw the band for the first time and decided to join the forum!

Glenn (TheDyingStart) usually does this, but he's not here, so on his - and all our - behalf I welcome you to this here board, and may you find plenty of TLE goodness on it :)

Oh, and do watch out for Glenn.. he's not a little odd.

/Martin

P.S. Jake is a girl. Just thought you should know. Yup.

Yeah they are going down a treat in the UK, like most others there is only one thing wrong. Thats the set isn't long enough, TLE should be headlining thats definate. It will be interesting to see their next UK tour, I just hope its soon. :D

a TLE fan I met in one of the bars at Glasgow was saying that they had a headlining set over here next year; I think this is to pave the way for that more than anything. I think it's a good strategy. It would help if their set was just 10 minutes longer though I think....

I'm so glad that they are going down so well over here and that more people are getting hooked each day. Noice One Boys!

Hmm, new forums, no wonder I couldn't get in with my previous username!

Anyways, I headed down to Glasgow to see the boys in action and it was everything and more that I expected. E-boogie was pretty much my highlight, I don't think I'll witness a better tune live again! They stole the show and so deserved to be higher up the bill. Better than nothing, though, eh? I'm disappointed that I didn't stick around to try and meet the guys but we were going out with some friends who've moved to Glasgow :(

Can't wait for them to come back. They're clearly making lots of new fans over here, and deservedly so! I know it may be a while but a festival or two wouldn't go a miss.

I have a few pics, will post them up later.

I got the impression you were with the boys in a more permanent capacity.

They get intimidated by confident german women with more tattoos than most bikers. And when they're drunk, they keep mistaking her for Rae, which leads to a whole lot of explaining the next morning.

So, what you're essentially saying, is that you've been a real-life, uncontrollable, do-anything (even the bus driver) groupie since the last time TLE were in England. When you were, what, 15?
Nice, Jake, nice

P.S. I hope you didn't forget to say hi to your parents for me!

You're a dirty disgusting pervert , I never did anything to anyone - the band or the bus driver - at any time in my life, under 15, 15 or present. :p

P.S. I did, and they commented on how pleasant you were and you're welcome anytime HAH!

P.P.S. Get on MSNM.

Great gig last night in Exeter.

Woke up this morning fully clothed, covered in mud and no phone. Bugger.

Must have been a great night.

Hahaha you crazy fella Si :p Let us know when you find out the story of what happened to ya!

Eviex, there was most definitely an email about these shows. Perhaps you were still on the old list (we're talking a few years back now), but they changed it to pick which country you live in, and you will receive the relevant news. Anyway, we can but hope it's not too long before they're back :)

*lmfao*

Quick setlist from Brixton, as best I can remember:

1) Roll On

2-4ish) LLTW, WOYR, WWM

5-7ish) POS, E-Boogie, SS

8) West End Riot

Not sure of the exact order in the middle, and Chris didn't make any particularly bad jokes either, but I was amazed by the length of the queue: a good 200m or more, but moving very quickly. Brixton Academy is big: think Melbourne's "Forum", but wider, higher, and without stars on the roof. And an upper level circle.
The VIP bar (some random bloke walked up to me and gave me a pass - w00t) is scungy and you don't hear very much. Plus all the lights seem to aim directly at you. Great view, though.

Didn't get any vids: nothing I really felt like taping.

Memory returned yet, Simon?

The set list looks similar but no Second Solution, was drinking in the bar till it closed, took pix on my mobile phone, the one I lost. Bugger Bugger Bugger I knew I shouldn't have had that last Jack Daniels.

Hey Yvonne, I think you saw you in the crowd. Were you towards the front, in the middle? I saw a bright pink head bobbing about and thought it might be you. Wasn't close enough to see any tats or anything though :)

I think this one was the right setlist at the Brixton Show:

Roll on
Whats on your radio
We want more
Prisoner of Society
Long live the weekend
Second Solution
E-Boogie
West End Riot

Great show, had a real good time there. The other acts were just made me yaning, only one or two tunes by Less Than Jake sounded acceptable.

But it was worth every Euro (or Pound - just in the way you see it) to see The Living End again after seven years. Yes, you can listen to live recordings or watch some cool videos of the boys, but you'll never get that kick in your ass when you see them live on stage, playing with the audience and everybody around you is also rocking. Great deal, looking forward to the next time. (And I'm sure it won't take 7 years. Maybe one day in Australia?!)

This time I missed Yvonne, but other concerts will come..

Nottingham Setlist:

Roll On
What's On Your Radio?
We Want More
Prisoner Of Society
Who's Gonna Save Us?
Into The Red
E-Boogie
West End Riot

It was a great gig, in spite of Nottingham Arena only being half (or maybe less than that) full. Really didn't expect Into The Red at all.

Martin

Into the Red! That would have been worth getting some footage of.

Glad to get the order of my setlist corrected. I was pretty close!

Wow, Who's gonna save us and Into the Red. Would have gone crazy hearing them live. But I would also have missed Second Solution. (But they could stratch out PoS :p )

Woo! I was at the Manchester show and WOW it was great!
In my opinion TLE stole the show!:D
My dad (who hasn't really heard much by TLE) said that they were really influenced by the Stray Cats, what with all the E-Boogie antics...
So, yeah, it's all damn good.

I was at the Nottingham show.
Was 2nd time I've seen them live, I was very very drunk though as well

Every single person I saw in a TLE shirt I was going 'oh my, you're wonderful, you know that right?'

I think I punched a poor boy in the face, by accident

It was a fun night
