Album track comparisons: Track 1

In the light of the other thread that has been running, I decided to set up these polls. I think 1 a week would be a good start to generate discussion. Basically we'll poll the tracks per album and hopefully come out with a different spin on a TLE ultimate album... Keep posting your full sets in the other thread.... Beware..this is hard...

I have also included the greatest hits (only the new tracks) but not the EP's or B sides... that is too hard for now.

Note: 3 out of 6 were singles! (5 out of 6 if you count internation and radio release/double A side etc) tough track this one...

Including the greatest hits changes things way up, now if say i dont pick prisoner for track one i can still pick it later, although it would be the ep version but you see my point!

i dont think having the greatest hits oin there on second thought is very good. i can choose til the end now and still choose prisoner and roll on later on.

This game should be about finding the ultimate living end album... and the greatest hits in there ruins it

I can't change it now... I guess the point is not to choose the ultimate album though, its just a track by track comparison, like what album has the best 1st song all the way through sort of thing... otherwise we'd just be choosing a greatest hits and there are jus too many... we'll have to do that next I guess... this is just one spin on it. I probably should have left ICGYWIHG off but the song is so awesome it deserves it's place....

I should make it clear - the rest of the tracks on the greatest hits WON'T be on here! Just bringin it back and ICGYWIHG

This track is a killer... I think what would you do is the only weak one... the rest are basically all on par... I think prisoner is amazing but maybe sometimes clouded because it was their big break, not necessarily their best song... The game is unfair but someone has to win and I went with a little fav that I thought really brought back the living end...

Five of these songs absoloutly are amazing.

Prisoner, Roll On, Til the End, How Do We Know?, And ICGYWIHG are prtty much as good as theliving end gets.

All of those songs are full of power and are just amazing!

I think it's probably about the hardest track... in terms of the number of close ones. I fyou were a sentimental TLE fan prisoner is the choice but if you go on just best/favourite song its almost impossible... A lot of albums lead out with one of their best tracks single or non single and TLE certainly do so yeh...its hard

Yep, that's what I was thinking.

From memory there was a new thread with a poll for each track and then after they were all done, there was some other "bigger and better' thread that would let us decide the ultimate TLE song or something.

Lotsa people got shitty/annoyed, so be careful what you guys do here.

Well, I voted for Roll On...just over 'Til the End. But by no means an easy choice at all.

Kinda still prefer Roll On's more upbeat feeling, and its a great song I can just get right into listening to / singing (or both!) at any time. Lyrically speaking, they're two of my most favourite, but Roll On gets my props. :D

Well I kinda like the idea so I think I will maybe try a few more tracks but space it out. Maybe the few tracks and then when everything dies down and there are no more tours/releases we can finish it off. If you could put multiple polls in one thread then the idea would be all good. On that note, I will do a track 2 one this week but no guarantee it will continue. I really want to see growing up, PITM, Tabloid Mag, LLTW and Raise the Alarm go head to head! I know what my vote is...choice of 2 for me...

Yhe till the end rocks but I am amazed. I guess SOE saw a massive growth in TLE popularity again and for some probably their first TLE album so that being the opening track certainly plays a part in the impression of the album. I wish I could hear all the songs for the first time in a row. I remember the first time I heard how do we know and I wasn't super impressed, 3rd listen I thought, this rocks... the chorus lagged for me.

I dunno if that's the real reason, it might have something to do with it. I just think it's a really strong song, interesting composition, and great musicianship. Alot of people who aren't necissarily fans of the band have commented the same to me

yeh obviously the song is still amazing. i just meant one of the reasons it could be more popular was that, but i'm sure there are others and the fact it rips is definately very much up there. It was my favourite on first listen of SOE (maybe apart from the singles i'd heard)

If the general public were to vote and in 20 years people were to choose as part of australian music history, Prisoner would win hands down. But then again, the poll is about our favourites so...

track 3 poll in a few weeks maybe... needs to be well spread. I'll probably leave it after that as the tour talk and 2nd single talk will clog up the forum for a while.
