I <3 Alec Baldwin.
Went on a video store binge the other day. First one we watched out of the bunch was Independence Day. Lordy it was crap :p
It's a fantastic movie. Will Smith is such a great actor.

I like Will Smith, but I still think that movie was very average.
Movie #2 we watched was I Love You Man. I liked it, but I think it's because he was like the male version of me. Plus I love Paul Rudd and Jason Segel, and the chick was from the Office too.
I just got back from seeing Avatar in 3D. The movie was alright, the 3D was shit.
It was almost as if they had just shown the movie side by side with another projector to create a "stereo" image. Nothing special about it at all. IN some scenes without the glasses the image on the screen was standard 2D looking. others looked in stereo / blurry (as they should). A few other people I went with said similar.
Apparently Avatar was filmed in 3D using some new technology. It just might have been my dodgy cinemas.

I love loved the movie itself, but I thought this about the 3-D too!!! I thought I was the only one who thought the 3-D was lame because my dad saw the movie in the same cinema I went to and said the 3-D was amazing.
I was expecting some sort of special 3-D experience, but didn't get it at all. The rest of the movie totally made up for it though.
Slightly unrelated, was the guy that played Jake Australian? Cause at the beginning of the movie, he sounded American, but as the movie went on, his accent started sounding fake, and by the end he started sounding very Aussie.
Yes he is. Sam Worthington is his name. Was in Terminator Salvation. He co starred along side Christian Bale

I absolutely loved Avatar in 3D, probably one of the best movies i've seen in a long time!

I saw an interview with james cameron that said that he had lots of voice coaching, maybe his voice coaching was still ongoing throughout the film and they shot the end scenes first.
Australian actors seem to over-do their american accents so it always sounds so fake. This wouldn't happen if they were just allowed to speak in their own damn accents!

After seeing the movie I don't quite understand why he needed an American accent anyway. I understand that he's supposed to be an ex- marine and all but i'm pretty sure that not all marines have an american accent!

Sam Worthington was also in one of my fav Aussie movies (the movie TLE Trav played in too), which is full of hotties :)

I knew it!! Yeah, I didn't think he needed the American accent. Maybe they made him do it cause they didn't think Americans would be able to understand him. That's the only reason I can think of anyway. If so, I hate when they do stuff like that because it's hardly ever needed.
His accent was weird in the movie because sometimes he overdid it completely and other times he'd slip into his real accent.

Transformers had an Aussie (Rachel Taylor) and she was allowed to use her natural voice. Michael Bay said he liked it that way, because he was trying to make it feel more international or something like that.
There are a few other movies I've seen where there is an Aussie in it that uses their natural accent.
Scurbs has an Aussie in it. She uses her natural accent, which pisses off Dr Cox.

ME TOO. It's so annoying, especially when the accent is clearly fake. And I feel like the more it happens, the more other people are going to find my accent annoying.

And back to Sam Worthington, I had suchhh a crush on him years ago when he was in Bootmen. Playing a tap dancer. But a rugged, bad-boy, sexy tap dancer.
Interesting note: there's like 2-3 TLE songs in that movie. And Adam Garcia who is also sexy. And a very bogan-sounding Sophie Lee.

Yeah i had some time to kill in Launceston waiting for my flight and thought I'd watch something. Man crush on Jude Law... but he's starting to recede pretty badly these days.

That's funny, because I often find jude law attractive but I think the mo put me off and instead I was totally hot for robert downey jr, even though he looks awfully dishevelled throughout a lot of it.
I'd often heard about how House (as in the character from the TV show) and Wilson drew a lot from holmes and watson, but I never really knew anything about sherlock holmes before now.
Anyway, I can really see how their dynamic is similar now, and now I'm even wondering if they watched House and took at least a little something from it.

No work today, so I watched movies all day.
I went and saw Sherlock Holmes. It was pretty good. I think I might have a crush on Rachael McAdams.
Then I hired out a bunch of movies that I didn't see in Cinemas (or they were straight to DVD, or I just haven't seen in a long long time)
They included:
American Pie: Naked Mile
American Pie: Book Of Love
8 mile
Space Jam

Saw Nine yesterday. Quite disappointed to be honest. Songs weren't the greatest. Sooo many parts were completely redundant and make you wonder why they even bothered to put it in the movie.
And I was quite surprised that the women didn't actually have much screen time (as individuals). It's basically ALL Daniel Day-Lewis, who was pretty good though to be fair.
Watched the South Park movie today at work. First time in ages. Not as good as I remembered it. Though I didn't know about the very end scene where Ike eats the mouse.
I also got Beavis & Butthead do America today. Going to watch it soon. 'We're gonna play some slots'

Watched Alice last night.
Quite liked it. I wasn't expecting too much after Avatar, but thought it was at least as good if not better visually. I've discoverd half the problem I have with 3D is that I wear the glasses over the top of my glasses, and they never quite sit on properly :p
I liked what they did with the story. I did find that despite it being a Tim Burton film, and the story is already a little twisted, weird, mad and creepy to begin with that it was all al little too nice in the end. The characters were way to friendly and accommodation. This might be because of the new story, but I was hoping he'd take it the other way and make it a little nastier.

Cop Out was released world wide at the end of January 2010, yet we have to wait for it here in Australia. It's directed by Kevin Smith and stars one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, Bruce Willis. and she said it might not even get shown here.
And MWSAG was released on March 4th, yet it hasn't been screened here yet.

And is it just me or has there been zero hype/advertising over Cop Out. I only knew it existed cos a photo of it was/probably still is the background shot of Kevin Smiths twitter account. Toy Story 3 3D
The 3D was shit, the movie was good. Don't waste your time or money going to see "3D" movies at the cinema. Save your money for IMAX. It's better 3D than the dodgy cheap technology they use at cinemas such as Village or Hoyts.
There was no depth in alot of the film, and when stuff should have been jumping out at you, it stayed flat.

Jackass 3D
I was quite disappointed in the movie. I liked the other 2 movies and the series, but this was just disappointing.
The 3D wasn't really stand out for quite a lot of the movie, though there was one scene with flying sex toys that flew towards you was probably the best 3D bit. Beavis & Butthead were in the movie too, which was funny.
I'd tell you to go see the 2D version, but there isn't one. I wouldn't rush out and see it, unless you were a die hard fan, or a die hard Bam fan. It was filmed entirely sober, so no drugs or alcohol were allowed on set (though could have been consumed beforehand) and Steve-O being completely sober (no drugs / alcohol) he just didn't seem as crazy as he used to be. (Steve has been sober for 2+ years now)

Was pretty good. Someone told me that John Cho (Harold, from Harold & Kumar) was in the movie, but it turns out it was Jay Chou, who looks kind of similar to John. But despite that, I enjoyed it. Quite a few laughs, explosions etc.
Would happily go see it again tomorrow if I was asked to.

Heard bad things about it from Green Hornet fans, but also heard that's it's as cheesey as it should be, and is a nice update on the theme.

I hadn't seen any other versions, so that's probably why I liked it. But then again, I quite like anything Seth Rogen is in.

Oh my god, I watched antichrist.
It was so disturbing and I keep having flashbacks to a part involving scissors.
watch it if you want to see some fucked up shit. I think i'm pretty desensitised to violence in movies but a few parts actually made me dry reach and hyperventilate.
I saw the Human Centipede or whatever it's called. Now that was some fucked up shit. Apparently number 2 makes Number 1 look like a wiggles concert :S
I did see the other day Battle Los Angeles. It was alright. Few people have called it a Marine Recruitment film. I still think Bruce Willis could make the film better. Aaron Eckhart didn't win me over with his role.

Watched the Fooies Doco last night http://www.somekindofawesome.com/journal/2011/4/11/watch-foo-fighters-back-and-forth-documentary.html (thanks for the link Nic)
Was a really good doco, detailed them from the ending of nirvana right through to the recording and secret shows before waisting light, and it doesnt spare much in the way of details. ie Pat Smear talking about deciding not to call and check up on Kurt cobain the night before / of him topping himself, and stuff about dave pretty much kicking people out of the band for different reasons.
really puts him in a different light.
Highly reccomend people check it out,

It's also showing at certain Village cinemas too. $25 for the ticket. I watched it online but am going to see it anyway.
There was a Rolling Stones one out last year, too. $25 for that one as well, but it turned out to be Mick Jagger talking for 20 mins and then old gig footage (which was good..i just expected more). This Foo Fighters one is MUCH better!

Oooo. Exciting.
When I was looking for a DVD last night at home, I came across Bad Boys. So I ended up watching that. First time I've seen it in ages. Might see if I can find Bad Boys 2 when I get home from work.
But in other Will Smith news, I didn't know they were filming Men In Black 3. I only found out after reading this article (http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/movies/will-smiths-mammoth-movie-set-trailer-moves-after-irking-nyc-neighbors/story-e6frfmvr-1226054643633) about his movie set trailer.

re Will Smith: I saw Ali recently. It was terrible. There were heaps of boring scenes (like, a scene of just him running) that went on too long, so the movie went on for far too long. The dialogue was really lame and the boxing scenes were boring.
Will smith was good though. I noticed that his speech had a quite unique intonation contour, so I listened to some of Muhammad Ali speaking on youtube and it was exactly the same! So, good on will smith, but he couldn't stop the movie from being shit.

I think It's the only Will Smith movie I haven't seen yet. He's up there amongst my favorite actors.
Going through my DVD / Blu-Ray collection today before work, there's so many movies that I own, but haven't watched yet, but I did come across doubles of a few movies, even triple copies of a few. Though at work earlier, we were talking about movies that we've seen multiple times, just because we liked it so much. My list was short, but the bloke I was working with had seen lots more movies multiple times.
My list included:
Blues Brothers (Well over 100 times)
James Bond: Casino Royale (16 times at Cinemas, quite a few at home)
Transformers (8 times at cinemas, few times at home)
The Dark Knight (16 times at cinemas, once at home)
Live Free or Die Hard (18 times in the cinema, and multiple times since it came out on Blu-Ray)
I Am Legend (6 @ Cinema, multiple at home)
The girls at the cinemas started getting sick of seeing us nearly every night during the films run at the cinemas. But each time we viewed the movies, we picked up on something different that we didn't see the last time. I still have the ticket stubs in a draw at home although most have faded because they're printed on thermal paper.
Excluding the Blues Brothers, my favorite from that list would have been Live Free or Die Hard. Timothy Olyphant is a brilliant actor. Same with Bruce Willis.

Sporty Spice was my favourite too. In retrospect I have no idea why. I'm not sporty in the least, she's not the prettiest and always wore track pants and runners. She sings a lot of solo bits, maybe that's why.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
Pretty good. Goes for just over 2 & 1/2 hours. I saw it in 3D, because my local cinema is shit and has crap session times for the 2D version. Going to see it at iMax on Friday :D now that's going to be awesome. When Optimus transforms, he'll almost be life size.
Easy A. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1282140/
I've seen the DVDs and posters for it everywhere and I thought it must have been a straight to DVD movie that they were trying to flog to make up for loss of profits, but it was at the movies (probably just not at my local). A friend said she liked it and we have similar tastes in movies, so I did a quick IMDB on it, saw the word ROMANCE and dismissed it.
Finally I caved in and watched it. I didn't mind it. It reminded me a little of the American Pie franchise (which has a new movie with the original cast coming soon!), just without all the Stifler jokes or the Milf jokes.
Marley & Me http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0822832/
RomCom's aren't my thing. But I was at work and I didn't get to have my say in what we watched (I wanted Iron Chef, the girl I was working with insisted on Marley & Me). The dog was awesome, the movie, not so awesome.
One guy who came in to my work told me how it ends, by showing me THIS (http://www.cinemablend.com/images/news/11241/_1229303728.jpg) photo. Meanwhile the girl I was working with was in tears because of the movie. Next week I get to chose what we watch. IRON CHEF!

I liked the parents in the movie. Pretty funny.
I saw Transformers 3 again tonight with people from work. It was better in 2D and possibly better 2nd time around. The only downside was some jerk answering his mobile phone halfway through the movie.
EDIT
I also think that the part played by Patrick Dempsey should have been played by Josh Stewart (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1577637/). I don't really know why, but I think he would have been more convincing as a bad guy. Also didn't realize that Buzz Aldrin played himself in the movie. I thought it was just some actor.
EDIT 2
Leonard Nimoy played one of the Autobots. I had trouble picking the voice, but looking at IMDB, it jolted my memory.

-the wrestler
-the purple rose of cairo
-bob le flambeur
They were all pretty good. I recommend last year at marienbad and bob le flambeur if for some reason you want to get into french new wave cinema.
The purple rose of cairo is a woody allen movie. It was a fun movie and the best thing about it is that woody allen is not in it. I hate it when directors put themselves in a movie, particularly as a main character and he seems to do it a lot...but not with this one, thankfully.
