'doing something' does not always equal touching someone.

Grumma
06-14-2008, 07:21 PM
and a bouncer doing something doesn't have to equal touching someone.
if the guy refuses to leave the bus there's not much you can as a driver cept refuse to drive off and hope an angry patron pushed the dude off himself lol

|<3|
06-14-2008, 07:31 PM
anyway, the bus driver did enough in this case and the dude left.

May
06-14-2008, 09:04 PM
And, the bus drivers can't really do anything because if they touch someone they can get charged with assault and lose their job
Yeah, that's true, but they have the right to refuse the guy further travel on their bus.
They can also call back to base for backup and get a supervisor (or police if its violent) to come deal with it if need be.

Any decent driver will realise they have a duty of care to their patrons.
How that get interpreted is different driver to driver.

Most that I know tend to feel more inclined to help someone if they're treated with a bit of respect in the first place, and not just like some underpaid chauffer.
Just a simple 'hi' or a smile engages them and makes them aware of you as something more than just another face.

I know from my time behind the wheel, those regulars that were courteous were the ones I felt more obligation to. If they werent at their regular stop in the morning, I'd keep an eye out for the next few streets to see if they were coming running, and if they were, stop and wait for them. On the odd occassion there was trouble with drunks/weirdos, they were the ones I felt more inclined to get involved for.
I'm not saying that they were life long buddies - cos that in itself would've been weird - but just that 'kindness of strangers' thing can work... if that makes sense...

Lymphoma something or other..not sure about much more than that yet. I don't really understand it all yet either.

She's going to have more tests and what not over the next few weeks. Combine all that plus her chronic arthritis and she's feeling pretty shit right now.

Her and dad took my brother and I out to lunch this arvo and told us then.

You've got to be kidding.................

Nicole, Try not to worry about it too much, I just recently had a cancer scare with my mum, and got incredibly worked up about it...
Sometimes what seems like it is going to become the worst possible outcome turns out to be nothing as serious as cancer.

It's nerve shivering waitin for tests to come back and stuff but keep it positive for your mumsy!

Caity

Hahaha this guy I went to school with in primary school and have recently started talking to is hilarious.
For the past two weeks, he has phoned me at 5:13am (when he wakes up for work) in order to wake me up also.
Tonight, he's in town and he's promised that he's going to ring me once every hour until he gets home! I just had a call then.

Colezy
06-14-2008, 11:56 PM
Well its already pretty much confirmed that its cancer..as to what type/how serious it is, is what we're waiting to know.

I say 'pretty much' cos they've gotta wait for the tests to say that yes, we're 100% sure it is cancer. At the moment they're about 70-80%.

* edit - i dunno if that made sense.

Nooooooooooo I don't get up til like, 6:53am! And I have a replacement phone at the moment and it vibrates even when it's on charge (and really loudly too) so I always wake up.

It's kinda sweet though, if a little misguided.

Made perfect sense to me.

Anyways, she's a fruitcake (coming from me that says alot), but I think my mum needs to talk to your mum Nic.

Mum's had cancer 3 times (admittedly, 2 melanomas and one other that I cant remember the name of, tho not lymphoma, and the last time was 21 years ago), but between that and the rheumatoid, they could compare notes...

Awww, hope everything works out okay for your mum Nicole. xx

I hate people who blatently (?spell, too lazy for dictionary this time of night) do the wrong thing at work. In particular I hate a certain person who is not only entitled to centerlink money to study (i'm whinging cos i'm not), and blow it all cos they're dumb, then ask for more shifts, but don't even finish the ones they do have, and then claim the other HOUR AND FIFTEEN minutes on their time sheet. Dodgy loser bogans.

I love that I got to be a pain in the arse. by simply smiling and doing my job, to some other loser that didn't think i knew who he was tonight...lotsa fun :p

Colezy
06-15-2008, 03:01 AM
Thanks Sarah :)

I have a person at work who is EXACTLY the same! Weird!

There are so many shitheads at my work. One girl (well, woman) is 30, still lives with her mum, gets centerlink payments, works just as many shifts at work as I do (if not more) and STILL complains that she has no money. She'd be getting AT LEAST $400 average a week from work, plus however much she gets from Centerlink.
She blows her money on huge (but oh so freaking ugly) portraits of herself, which she hangs in her bedroom, loads of jewelry, food and alcohol. Plus she has diabetes and doesn't look after herself and her health (cos of all the food/alcohol she buys) and yeah. She whinges all the time about how tired she is. Well if she ate the right foods and had a break from work every now and then, maybe she wouldn't be so damn "tired". Plus she sucks up to two of our supervisors and buys them presents every now and then (which are totally lame) and this is how she gets extra shifts. Grrr.

/rant :)

My mums brother is almost 50 and lives with my grandmother. He lives in this detached part but he comes into the house all the time and gets food, makes phone calls and yells really loudly and makes threats. Oh, and he always borrows money and makes up lies to get it and never pays it back. If I was my grandmother I could have kicked him out long ago, but she and my grandfather built it up so much that she would be extremely relectant to do anything.
Anyway, I believe this stems from one moment. He's adopted and they wen't to the birth mother's house to pick him up when he was a baby and the mother said "take extra good care of him" or something.
So that made them kind of baby him forever and this obviously has a giant cumulative effect now.

Oh, and he was in a biker gang and has a nazi tattoo. I once asked one of my grandparents about it and they said. "oh yeah, its totally a spiritual /buddhist symbol you know" and im like yeah whatever he's a fucking nazi/ex nazi.

Anyway, the only thing that makes me feel better about being related to this shit human being is that im not actually related to him by blood (which i dont usually think about, but you know)

END OF SHIT HUMAN BEING RANT.

I hate that there was an afterparty that I didn't know about, that TLE atteneded after The Soundscape Festival in Hobart on Australia Day this year! And there we were trying to find something to do after leaving Shannon and Lauren that night

I found this post about it on another forum:

No, I insist on doing the giving :P

And the new stuff does sound a bit more edgy, but I agree they're at their best when they just stick to the rockabilly sound that made them. IMHO their best stuff will always be from the second EP, It's For Your Own Good (From Here On In is still my fave track) to the first album (Prisoner of Society just has timeless classic written all over it).

Everything since sounds like they are trying hard to be different.

But, it all rocks :)

I actually saw them earlier this year at Soundscape in Hobart, and got to meet them at the after party (where I talked Scott Owen's ear off about how big an influence they were on me at 20), hopefully I get to say hi this weekend, maybe they remember me

anyone wanna tell me why a suicide attempt (apparantely) would warrant not only two ambulances, a lock down and sea of police.... but also a FRIGGIN' SWAT TEAM??? They were running through the school, bullet proof vests and rifles and everything.
Man its killing me not knowing; the whole school's buzzing with it offcourse but its all speculation and crackpot theories for now.

and the plot thickens!!
chick in year 8 got a knife from the food tech room, threatened a teacher with said knife, then locked herself in the toilets attempting to suicide.
Cops were brought in due to protocol and the school wasn't expecting that many to show up; i assume the same goes for the ambos. I s'pose the rifles/vests were precautionary... but again that's not for sure. There's been talk of a gun although i find that HIGHLY hard to swallow...

Okay so. I got this promotion thing at work which means that for three afternoons a week, I have the role of "Trainee Consultant" where I speak to candidates, book interviews, have phone interviews, screen candidates etc. I really really enjoy it, and I've said this several times to my boss in conversation.

One of the consultants is this cranky lady who no one really likes except the boss - which makes it hard. She was complaining that her computer screen was too small (she uses a laptop with a plug in keyboard) and of course, when she complains, we all have to suffer to make her happy.
So. The computer I was using for the three afternoons got swapped with her, to make her happy. In theory, that's okay because I'm only there three afternoons, not full time but even still, it was frustrating because we have a general rule that when you move a computer in our office, something goes wrong.

This afternoon, I had to use this computer so I go to log in, and surprise surprise it doesn't work. I had to get on the phone to our IT support because everything needed to be reconfigured - my Outlook, my profile (to log in on any computer) and my access to our office database. It ended up taking 3 hours to fix, within which time I had no computer and therefore had nothing to do. As you can imagine, I was pissed off - I had things I needed to do this afternoon and couldn't do them.

One of the things I had to do was phone interview a heap of candidates for a particular job that aforementioned cranky lady is running.

Finally got it working and the rest of the afternoon was a write off, trying to sort out a complaint made about another consultant etc etc.

I was sitting at my computer at about 5pm and overheard my boss talking to the temp who takes over on Reception/Admin for me when I'm doing my other stuff - she asked if she was available to work tomorrow.

I kinda assumed it was so I could finish my work tomorrow but it was so that the other lady could come in and do my work ... for me.

Needless to say I was pissed.

Anyway left work pretty cranky.

Just had a call from one of the consultants - she could tell I was upset and rang to let me know she noticed and to see if I was okay. I burst into tears, it was really nice and I really did have a crappy day.

So yeah. Don't feel brilliant but I guess I feel better.

after spending more than i could afford on computer shizz last week, i preceeded to spend even more today on formal wear and general winter necesseties. And i haven't even FINISHED with the formal wear. I've only payed for half the dress, i still need a cardi, shoes, new neclace, nice bag and a haircut. Oh the woes of never wearing NICE things; now i have to cram it all into one purchase! New resolution; be more girly... its cheaper in the long run!!

Or the Russians
they're pretty funny
Safin
SafinA

girls just have to be special dont they

|<3|
06-19-2008, 09:48 PM
They need to do that so their names go with the grammar. I dont know russian, but I would presume that male and female nouns are different declensions, so they decline differently (ie, the endings change in a different way depending on what case in the sentence the word is used)

I <3 languages!
