nah, i'm doing research assistant work. To be honest, I don't really know what the researcher is doing with it when I'm done, but it's something about the different senses of 'soft' 'hard' 'rough' and 'smooth' and how they're used with different types of nouns and verbs and whatnot.

Nice one! My day is about to wrap up... Off to the doctor to see if he is happy to write me up for some valium so that my flight on Sunday is pure bliss as opposed to annoying "ARE WE THERE YET", "WHY IS THIS PLANE SO FUCKING SMALL??!!" moments.

No complaints with my day really... I've got loads of work to do on account of going on leave, but I can't be stuffed today... In my mind, I'm pretty much on holidays.

And yours?

I'd recommend having a look at the flood maps if you're concerned about that sort of thing. I believe It's expected to be another wet summer, and whilst it's unlikely to happen again so soon, you never know!

Interesting stuff. I've never been affected by floods before, so probably something I should be considering.

Brisbane was pretty cool. Everyone was super friendly, saw some cool stuff, and boated and walked everywhere which was fun and flat. Bummed we left before a heap of cool stuff was about to happen (Zombies, outdoor movies at Southbank, Rocky Horror, etc), but chuffed we'll get to see this sort of stuff more in the future.

Bit bummed about leaving Hobart. It feels comfortable and safe (and surprisingly sunny) here, plus the music scene here is finally GREAT. Just bought a ticket to Skipping Girl Vinegar just so I can see my new fav local band play at one of my fav venues for what will probably be my last time (in Hobart anyway) :(

Right now really not liking so much my loser neighbours and their party that is just starting up and the fact I have an assignment to do by tomorrow, but I can't seem to get started.

Don't love so much that I left my hair straightener in the hotel, or that I realised that 10 mins before I had to leave for work this morning. But love that I have an excuse to go all ferral hair at work.

I might do that tomorrow, it's still a bit messy, but what the hey.

Before we had three blokes working on a bench built for two. Now we all have our own desks. That helps in IT when you consider we each have a PC, a test bench PC, a laptop, an iPad, and numerous laptops coming in for repair on any given day.:woot:

There was a precarious stack of some 5 or 6 cans which were not only blocking the view of Monitor #2, but also threatening to fall over and make things sticky, so I was forced to remove them. Them and the Farmer's Union Strong Iced Coffee stubbies that had already accumulated in the one week we've been in the new room.

We're almost rid of all HP hardware, but I like their keyboards better than the new Lenovo ones, so i held onto them. With my upcoming permanency I might end up witch a decent couple of Logitechs if I'm lucky...the redix budget should have a bit of swing room come Chrissie time!

The last place I worked at i had dual monitors and another computer anyway! We also had all the wireless gear which was alot easier. But up there it was just two of us, so we sorted ourselves out with all the good gear. Now i'm part of a big team with real structure and it's alot harder to make yourself comofrtable in the same way!

We run dual screens for work. It is handy (couldn't go back), but also really painful when setting up/leaving a client. We have to lug massive suitcases around town all the time, struggle for space and power and kinda look like idiots when we rock up at the smaller clients :p

My neighbouring suburb is the freaking CBD, I should be able to get decent & uninterrupted reception!

And you know what else grinds my gears - people who say 'grinds my gears' :p

ah I see.

North Melbourne eh? We're practically neighbours then. Actually, I don't know that for sure, North Melbourne is pretty big. I only found out yesterday that The Town Hall has closed... I'm so sick of Melbourne pubs closing. East Brunswick Club is under threat too apparently.

I'm near the corner of Arden & Abbotsford streets, if that means anything to you! Not too far from the Nth Melb footy oval/cricket ground. (Please, no one stalk me. There's enough loonies around here as it is).

Yep, the Public Bar also shut its doors on live music, but still operates as a bar. *Really* hoping that EBC doesn't close. I like that venue!

Last week, I accidently damaged my boyfriend's headphones. He declined my offer to buy some new ones. They still work but they're taped together. They're seinheisser ones that cost about $150 sometime in the last two years but I haven't been able to sneak a look at what they are specifically. I was thinking about buying him some similar or slightly better type ones for christmas. What headphones would be good?

Also: If you had aesthetically damaged but still working headphones, would you want some new ones or something else? He doesn't use them outside the house, if that makes any difference.

I've been told by two audiophiles i work with that Senheisser are actually pretty rubbish as far as sound quality goes and you pay for the brand more than anything. I'm not sure what they recommended instead though...i know the beats by dr dre ones were discussed as being pretty good, hopefully Kev Gray will be able to give you some insight, i assume he knows about this stuff!

Please advise your telephone number so the festival organizers can contact you with the details of your prize.

Love that I finally got around to having my eyebrows waxed today. First time i've had them done by someone who knows what they're doing!
She also tinted them a shade or two darker so they stand out a little/match my hair/don't get lost behind my glasses. They were still a lighter shade from when I was born a blondie!

Bought the following today with some vouchers for my birthday:
http://img846.imageshack.us/img846/4945/img1353u.jpg
I want to paint the letter N..probably red polka dots. Maybe.
I haven't really got a use for the ruler, but i guess it'll come in handy sometime.

http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/5673/img1349iy.jpg
I want to get more of the vinyl coasters, but they were the last two. Hopefully i can find some more. I don't think i'll use them as coasters though, because i've already got some. They're probably going to stuck to my wall.

Also bought some tinted moisturiser and some other nice smelling make up-y stuff. It works wonders, but i can't remember what it's called :p

Which was a shame because it was actually a pretty good movie interpretation of my all time favourite book series.

Yeah that and the fact that Robyn looked like she was 12 years old were the only negatives to that movie

Are you guys mocking me? I was about 35 minutes away from securing the car that I've been longing for the past 5 years, and some other mug got their offer in before I could. I'm talking exact model, specification and colour here. A colour that is near impossible to find. Heartbroken :o(

They sent me a seniors pensioner card, instead of a health care card.

2007 Mazda 3 SP23, fully optioned apart from the transmission (i prefer the 6 speed manual anyway) in Phantom Purple.

There's a vintage hot rod car show in Perth on the 25th. I can't even drive but each year I go, I badly want to buy one.

Genuine news story, so i say safe for work, that's where I was when i was reading up.

I bought a car. The ad's already off the intynets and I don't take delivery 'til Sat so I can't provide photographic evidence just yet, but it'll be cool.

It pretty much looks like this, but better spec and not a hatch:

Yeah, SP23. Might regret that, does 60 in third without even getting the revs up. Also the clutch is some idustrial piece of kit which'll take me a good week to get used to. Good fun though! Midlife crisis come early!

New car today, new car today!

Still haven't cleaned all my crap out of the Commonwhore, and I still need to play box tetris in the garage in order to make room for the new beast. It's gonna be a big day!

Gee, haven't been on here in a while, but I'll try to get on when I can (when I'm not at work or school, y'know)
Anyway, my band kinda died because my drummer started dating this chick (the drummer is also a girl)who was really needy so she quit the band, which really sucked. Then she and this girl started this little R'n'B duo and killed all the interest in my band.
My XB Falcon is nearly roadworthy, but it's still not white yet.
The Marshall G80 I had went out with a bit of pyrotechnics and smoke (basically it just caught fire).
And yeah, thats about it really. Pretty hyper first term of Year 12, can't wait 'til its over.

Dunno if hotlinking facebook works, but here's the new car. Still needs some scratches (alot) buffed out, but I love it. Zoom Zoom!

Contemplating changing the plates to Maroon to match the duco, and maybe a slimline plate on the front.
