Okay, im at school right now, forgot to bring in my White noise album. The reason i needed it was because today in Audio Design its our last day to finish our radio ad, i wouldnt be so desperate to post this if it was somethig minor but the radio ad goes into my folio at the end of the year, (college is weird colezy is from tassy so probably knows all what im on about), anyway...My radio ad is based on the release of "White noise" and the two songs i was using in it, (we have to mix in some music to the ad, its a cumpolsory guide line..., the ad goes for 30 seconds as well) anyway the two songs were white noise and How do we know, so what im asking is if someone could send, How do we know and white noise to my school email, ( jamie.curtis.00@tased.edu.au), not my hotmail because im not sure if they have it blocked or not...
Im begging some one to just take 5minutes to do this, My pro tools time (my recording time) is at 12:00 so i've got half hour.
Please help me out id be eternally grateful
Did you fail? You should probably be more organised and take some ginkgo biloba for your memory. suckah.

I didn't even read this until 4.46pm :p
But yeah, I know what you're on about :) I hope you didn't fail or whatever!
I was just reading that Tasmania has 31 public 'high schools' and 27 'combined' schools that go up to year 10 but only 8 'colleges' for year 10-12. Do you guys have a mega drop out rate after year 10 or or people moving to the mainland to study or something?
Basically, why do you have two separate institutions for high school when the rest of Australia generally works with one?
another question: How many people do 'year 13'? What is it? is it like, half the workload for double the time or is it the same work for an extra year?
*ok, they do it in NT and ACT as well.

I totally forgot that when I was in early primary school in NSW, it was referred to as 'infants'

Um, well yes there is an extremely high drop out rate for college students.
Year 13 is like an extra year say if you decided to take year 12 off or work for year 12, or if you didnt get enough pre-tertiary classes.
A pre-tertiary class is a class that basically prepares you for a uni course in that subject.
And i would just alike to say, that i think college is a way better working enviroment and has a way better attitude and prepares you more for University then mainlands high school up to year 12.

Yep, I agree with that last bit you said there. Years 11/12 are a lot more like uni..you have your set classes and times that you should turn up for, but so much of it is up to you to be organised and self motivated, blah, blah, blah.
The only schools here that go from kinder/infant school to year 12 are the private schools, and they're either all boys or all girls
The high school I went to, is the only public all girls school though and the high school that my brother went to is the only public all boys school. The rest are private.
I know of about 10 people that have done year 13. The work is the same but the reason why some people choose to do it is very different to why someone else is doing it.
That pre-tertiary thing is actually a very good idea. There might be some super fancy private schools that do that here, but I've never really heard of any regular school doing it. The schools would probably argue that they try to weave it into the curriculum, but I don't think so. (Although, I havn't been to school in almost 6 years so I'm not really an authority) Super-duper smart kids can do one uni subject at uni during year 12, but its only a few kids.
anyway, I think kids are generally way too underprepared for uni if they come straight from high school. The steep learning curve combined with people being used to being spoon fed and ordered to do things leaves them a bit lost when they ultimately do everything by choice at uni.
PERHAPS TASMANIA SHOULD OVERTAKE THE REST OF THE MAINLAND EDUCATION SYSTEMS.
It actually really annoys me that system varies so much state-to-state.

MAYBE WE SHOULD!
It used to be annoying when my family would go on holidays to Melb or Bris cos all the other kids and our family friends would still be in school while we were all on our holidays :(

Yeah, being different is crap.

hmm, well if Tassie kids are more prepared for Uni than mainland kids, I'd hate to see what the kids are like over there! (my Accounting lecturer was so disappointed with how badly most of our class did in last weeks test, if they were any worse he probably would have shot himself right there and there, and the results were only bad because no-one does class work or study for tests)
I seriously think the school system isn't what it used to be (ie. 8 years ago since I was last there). And pre-teriaries are only important if you want to go straight on to Uni (cos I did a VET course i didn't do enough pre-teriaries in year 12, but it's irrelevant after 8 years anyway :p )
The way year 13 was when I was at college was that it was really only there for people that failed year 11 or 12 (which was generally only due to people being stupid/lazy and not going to classes - bums basically). It was frowned upon back in my day.
So Pigmy, did you get it done?

We have year 13 in Victoria I think, it has something to do with VCAL, which is a more hands-on/practical alternative to VCE. It's not very common though.

I think every state has "Year 13". I'm not even sure that it's a legitimate title for it, i think it's more just what we say when someone does an extra year of Year 12, or goes back to school later in life to complete their SACE/VCE/Whateveritisinyourstate.
Repeating year 12 because you did badly is a pretty dumb idea anyway. Even if you get a shitty mark you can always get into a lesser degree at uni, or even a year of a course at tafe for a year can raise your rank/whatever so you can get into what you want later
My mum left school in year 9 (it was pretty normal back then in that working class culture, i suppose) and she's always complaining about her shitty job and lack of knowledge but she won't even consider going back to finish year 10 or 12 because she thinks she's too old. BUT SHE'S NOT TOO OLD!
I once had a 68 year old man from the netherlands called jonni in one of my classes. He ruled.

No i didnt get it done, but my teacher gave me he oppurtunity today to get it done and thats it! so...i go into the pro tools room...the harddrive is fucked and wont turn on! lol so didnt get to it today ither so i still get one day due to un for seen circumstances =P.
And yea year 13 is basically for people who dont get enough pre tertiaries or fail classes due to laziness or stupidity lol.
Like im doing Psyhcology wich is Pre-t, English communications Pre-t, Music Pre-t but im probably going to fail all of them because i've just been really lazy and stupid, i almost got kicked out last week, but my music/audio teacher saved my ars told them to hold off...so i know for a fact ill be doing year 13 because i want to go to uni, so i need to pass like 5 Pre-t's.
P.s im not a bogan, i almot got kicked out for having 65 absentee days, why because im an idiot! lol

I did 5 pre-tertiaries but failed one and sucked balls at another, but still got in to uni!
