$22 bucks for the cd/dvd double wasn't too bad for back then.....(i'm assuming you bought it a month or two after the release)

Most shops i've seen around town has SOE for 10 bucks for just the CD at the moment.

I was 13 when Roll On came out and although I loved the s/t album to bits, by 13 I was able to have a bit more of an understanding what music is about and yeah... Roll On blew me away.

i remember seeing the ad for roll on when it came out, they had the chorus of roll on going,"we'll roll on with our heads out high,Conscious in the gutter, dreams up in the sky"

I bought Modern ARTillery with my birthday money one year. I never bought S/T or Roll On until after I had FHOI.

It's also "our dreams up in the sky", but shh. :D

Heh, I have it as 'Conscience in the gutter, Dreams up in the sky' as my journal title on LiveJournal, the "our's" left out deliberately, though.

I bought the 'From Here On In' compilation just after the tour of the same name, because I'd had such a kick-arse time, and the CD seemed like good value - it had most of the songs I knew (being a radio listener and casual downloader up until this point), and a few I remembered hearing at the gig.

It was that show that got me into The Living End enough to want to collect the back catalogue - having missed out the first time around.

i wish i could get all their singles

Hellbound, then It's For Your Own Good.

Then the rest as they were released.

And all I need now is a Roll On vinyl and the OSTTO vinyls and I'll be set.

While we're all picking on Jimmy's wrong lyrics, it's our heads held high isn't it?
Anyway!
My first cd was FHOI
My friend who liked the living end was going to see them at fed square for some video hits live thing, I had no idea who they were but I went along anyway, and they threw out a few copies of FHOI, and I caught one and have been hooked ever since. Shortly after I bought Self Titled and Roll On.
I got SOE as soon as it came out, and MA and the EPs a few months later.
But you didn't really need to know all that so I'll shut up now.

I got the POS/SS when I was like 7 and loved it. Got ST when I started playing guitar (13). After the gig at Hordern I remembered how good they were and have bought all the albums +Ep's and as many out of print singles as possible.

My first TLE album was Modern Artillery. I'd been into TLE since I was 10 but it took another 3 years until I finally had a TLE album to call my own.
My brother bought be the cd/dvd for christmas and then the year after I bought Roll on and S/T.
Got From here on in on dvd and cd, the ep's, SOE, festy hall dvd this year. TLE did well out of me this year haha!!

I got every thing this year - I'd liked TLE for a while but had never gotten around to buying a CD / couldn't afford it. My friend lent me Modern ARTillery earlier this year and from then on I was hooked. I got all their albums, eps and dvds between February and June, though I still haven't got the new Festy Hall dvd cos I don't have any money. But I saw it today on Channel V and it was excellent - my next $30 is definately going on that!

State Of Emergency...I didn't know who the Living End was until earlier this year. :p

I became a bigger fan maybe at the end of July/beginning of August, after I downloaded a live performance of Wake Up.

I got Modern Artillery... after I saw them live for the first time.

I got into that album heaps.

It took me awhile to get the previous two... I think I got the best of before Roll On and the Self Titled.

I heard a song or two, then i saw From Here On In and figured I'd buy it. When i played it for the first time, when 'Roll On', 'All Torn Down', 'Dirty Man' and 'One Said To The Other' came on, I realised that I'd heard them before, I just never knew it was The Living End. Then I got the rest of their albums, and stuff.

my first was self titled - i would have been about 16 when i borrowed it from a friend - i took it on holiday with me, listened to it for every minute of the 6 hour trip, listened to it constantly while i was on the holiday itself, listened to it the whole 6 hours back home and thought... "hey, i should buy this, it's good shit"

i have been in love ever since and within a month or so i'd bought Hellbound and It's For Your own Good (back when they were readily available and not the rarity that they've sort-of become)

i have since queued to get my hands on every other release (on CD - i can't afford Vinyl :() and have been pretty successful in building up my back catalogue (second hand CD shops are a gold mine - and next time i see any of their stuff in one i shall buy it on principle so that everyone that wants one can eventually get one!)

I didn't realise how many people we had on here that are relatively new to their fabulousness - but i'm glad it's happened!

and thus ends another one of my extremely meandering and somewhat pointless posts!

>love<

My first album was Roll On during the summer/fall of 2001? (I don't remember exactly) I had heard the title track as a single on 92.3FM K-ROCK as "new music," and thought, "this is amazing." A few weeks later, I am in my local Best Buy and I stumbled upon a disc (Roll On) with a sticker on it that read "Super Saver." Knowing the title track, I paid 10 bucks for the album, and walked out blissfully, having bought another new record at the ripe age of 14.

The rest is history.

You Know I have More respect for people who tell the truth and say that they got one of their last albums rather then someone lying and saying they Got the 9 track hellbound when it first came out..

BTW, my first TLE CD was state of emergency. But I had the From Here On In DVD Before then.

MA was the first for me. I really liked it (the Room blew me away), but then I got the self-titled and that's what really hooked me. Then Roll On, Hellbound, and finally SOE.

You know, there are actually people who DID own Hellbound first, way back in the day. You have no grounds to simply assume that they didn't.

The first TLE album I heard was ST, but the first album I bought was Roll On.

After that it was MA, ST, FHOI, HB, IFYOG, SOE.
