So far I know that Kim, Hugo, Kevin and myself will be at the Crapberra gig. Who else is going?
It's my birthday the next day so don't forget to buy me a birthday drink :p
Kevin
10-10-2006, 05:32 PM
Aaron is coming along with me and a small group of friends
is there anything planned for afterwards? *prays that aaron is driving* :p
i so think we should try and get into the after party with the guys... assuming bands still do those things
Aaron
10-10-2006, 07:23 PM
Yo, I'm in too. I'll let you know later tonight whether I can drive, Kev. *Might* need to drive your car, though (but probably not).

Yeah my birthday party! Are you guys staying in Canberra the night or driving home?
Aaron

Kimjar

Classy hotel for classy Melbourners in Scumberra.
We are getting very boozey that night. Feel free to join us.
I vote we steer clear of Dickson Tradies, Belconnen Soccer Club and the Magpies club. Purely for the fact that I don't wanna see my dad or his mates.
The Carotel ay? That place used to be alot of fun during the Summernats and CRAKK runs... :p
Aaron
10-11-2006, 12:14 AM
The place advertises special Summernats surcharges on its webpage :p
Sarah
10-11-2006, 12:15 AM
Now that is classy!! :P

What? You have to pay extra then? Haha never used to. They should pay guests a fee for actually staying in scamberra...

i'm sure he'll understand :p
he could probably pass for 19 or 20
but there's nothing better than drinks with randoms from the internet and across the country :p
i'm skipping a sydney pubcrawl saturday to be in good health on sunday :)
Kristen
10-11-2006, 01:36 PM
Well if he looks that old then you can bring him along and see what happens. Drinks with random tle fans is awesome :)
Kimjar
10-11-2006, 07:02 PM
If he's hot, he's in :p
Nah just kidding. Drinks are good with anyone cool. So provided youse kids are cool, you can all come. *nods*

On the topic of random TLE fans...!
You guys wouldn't mind the company of a local or two on the big night, would you? I'll be there with a friend, and it'd be great to hook up with some other fans! Oh, and for what it's worth, I'm not exactly a first-time poster; I was briefly on the old board (as 0verture)!
Kristen
10-13-2006, 09:25 AM
Local randoms are more than welcome! Kim is an ex local, and a friend of mine that will be there is a local too. So we can't discriminate against locals.
Private message me you mobile number so we can orgainse a place to meet up. Same goes for Kevin and Aaron too (unless Kim already has your numbers cos she knows like all the kids cos she is so cool)

Weston
10-13-2006, 11:11 PM
Thanks a million Kristen! This is gonna be brilliant!
Did anyone else consider maybe going to one of the nightclubs afterwards, for drinks? There's Mooseheads and Academy, pretty close to each other in the middle of the city, both with pros and cons.
Edit: Ah, and I should add, I'll have a car if we need another one at all!

We're staying at James Court Apartments, fancy hotel and such. My mum used to work there many moons ago.
I feel so dirty being an ex-Scumberran. *shudders*
Any (hot and/or awesome) boys and girls are welcome to come join us at our hotel afterwards. Surely there's at least one pub open on a Sunday night at that place. Don't tell me we'll have to end up at the Casino or some shit.

well what a night.
what you all want to hear is that i have some AWESOME SHOTS of the boys... probably wont make them available to the public for a week or so but they will be up on fasterlouder.com.au tommorrow or tuesday.
the boys played a great show, the crowd was pretty shitty though, really weak moshpit (i made it to the 3rd row in 5 min after i left the photo pit). ran into kim, aaron(i think) kev(i think) and maybe more. The night is a bit of a blur as i was nervous and stressed
the lighting for red riders / end of fashion was pretty damn shit.
lighting for TLE was pretty damn good for photographers except that chris had more spotlight on him than scott making scotty harder to photograph. Scotty also had a habit of doing cool stuff outside of the light making it impossible for me to get a shot off.
anyway looks like iam gonna be up for a while editing. I have 2 gigs to do and really should do the ground componants before TLE but wont.
For any of those who went tonight and are reading this. I was the TALL photographer with the street team shirt on. Would be hard to miss esp seeing i am about a foot taller than Andrew who was the only other photog there and was shooting for local street press
devonuto
10-16-2006, 10:29 AM
Ah, I saw you there... didn't talk to you though. Remembered you from a while back. Your street team T looks like it's done the hard yards. Mine's still in a bit better condition. Pity how the team went arse up...
I thought the gig was pretty good. It took the [small] crowd about 4 or 5 songs to really warm into it... but being a Sunday night people are always going to be a little more on the layed back side (as I was).
Nice to see them play tainted love live though. I haven't seen them play that since '97 or '98. Ah, good times :)
Thommo
10-16-2006, 01:40 PM
yeah we have met before havent we mate.
not sure where.
you should have said gday...
devonuto
10-16-2006, 01:52 PM
You looked busy, and I was with people. Would've said g'day if you came by. I was too lazy to chase you down :)
Would've spoken to you last time they played the ANU at the sound check or something. I didn't make Stonefest last year :(
Thommo
10-16-2006, 02:25 PM
ah yes, the joys of being underage and trying to get a ticket from chris.
yeah i was a bit stressed last night. but i am so happy right now. i got some fucking awesome shots.

pardon me for quoting the wedge
LUCKYYYYYY!!!!
hehe - my brother quotes the wedge all the time! :p
but yeah $75 from a Casino is good news! :) (one year my friend won $2000 at the roulette wheel the first time he ever went to a Casio - it was spectacular! - i think he only put a couple of bucks on the table at the time too...)
i'm jealous that Aaron and Kevin got to meet the band :(
*M!
btw, did you meet them *M?
Colezy
10-16-2006, 03:27 PM
If she is jealous, then I guess she didn't.
It sucked knowing that Sarah and Michael got to meet them only about 30 mins after I had to leave the hobart gig :( But we still got to say hi in the street earlier that day. But its still not the same! :p
btw, did you meet them *M?
colezy's assumption is correct - i didn't get to meet them :(*cries*:(
surprisingly in the Luna Park thread i didn't actually post that i didn't meet them like i'd wanted to... :O
although, it's pretty safe to say that my post was long enough!
interesting read though :p

awwww....but you made the book 'n everything!
i know! :(
i was bummed out enough that i couldn't see them when they were playing to even bother complaing or being sad that i didn't get to meet them - i did talk to Rae for a while - i gave her the books - she had a bit of a laugh at some of the photoshopping i'd done and said she's pass them on to the boys and get one signed for me and send it back...
i shall let you know if this happens - i would be excited!

i was hanging out with the roadies after the gig before the guys came out, they'd obviously been drinking for a while :p
Aaron

Last night's show was tops as always. The Red Riders sounded better than at Shelley's (I didn't see them at Luna Park), but End Of Fashion sounded a bit average compared to the other two shows I saw.
The Living End's set was identical to that at Luna Park, although Uncle Harry featured a few extra backing vocals, in the form of the drum techie and the Red Riders. Lots of fun - everyone was relaxed and relieved that the tour was over. Scott played the first verse of Tainted Love with a blindfold on, feeling his way around the stage. He didn't realise his microphone was pointed the wrong way, but one of the crew ran out to fix it for him :p. I'm not sure what Canberra crowds are usually like, but even though it was all-ages there were hardly any kids (despite Kristen calling us that all night :p). The mosh was full of very solid guys, but it was pretty easy to move through.
Before kicking into West End Riot for the last time this tour, Chris read out a list of thankyous to the crew, including the sound & lighting guys, Jaimie and the merch people, the tour manager, the stage crew, the truck driver, and the fans. He apologised for anyone he'd forgotten (like Rae, heh).
On the way to find parking, we drove past Andy, who was running back to the Theatre with a coffee. Kevin almost jumped out the car window, haha :p. We spent the afternoon wandering around Canberra trying to find a shop that was open, and chatting to the Red Riders. We also met up with Kim, Kristen, Hugo and Todd, and there were introductions all round. The TPA/Oztix e-tickets were a shambles... but I'll save that for the other thread. Kev and I later found Thommo walking around inside, recognisable by his formidable camera.
After the show, we loitered with a couple of others in the cold before heading around to the loading dock - where we chatted to the band amongst the Taragos, and roadies carrying gear into the truck. Andy mentioned how he now gets to go home and do his tax. Scott made a speech for his 21st birthday, and generally clowned around.
Kim, Kristen, Hugo and Todd had invited Kevin, Kelly, Nae and myself back to their (very swish) hotel room/apartment, so we went there for a bit, and finished off what alcohol had escaped the pre-show session. It was (still is) Kristen's birthday, but we had to leave eventually to get back to our own budget accomodation. It was a good forum meet-up nonetheless :).
...And now, it's all over! 4-and a bit days, 4 concerts later (3 of which were TLE). I'm kinda glad I can sleep at more normal hours, and don't have to drive ridiculous distances anymore, and endure the hassle of selling tickets at the last minute. My ears are still ringing though, and probably will for a while.

10-16-2006, 04:31 PM
Oh yeah, and just in case you're wondering (you all are, admit it) that blindfold Scott was wearing during Tainted Love... WAS MINE!
Kimjar
10-16-2006, 10:14 PM
From what I can remember, it was a really good night. Gig was average, but events before and after were mostly good. I'm too tired to post the stories, and I haven't saved all the photos yet coz I'm on my sister's laptop in Canberra still.
Kev and Aaron are pretty cool dudes, thanks for coming to hang out with us. :)
Aaron
10-16-2006, 10:27 PM
Haha, the gig itself... knew I forgot to comment on something. I thought the guys played consistently well, as they have on the rest of the tour. The venue felt a little awkward, and it was tricky to get a decent view of the stage.
I said it last night, Kim, but I'll say it again: Aw, shucks. We totally mooched of your crew's cred, though :p. You all had nice shoes.
Kimjar
10-16-2006, 10:32 PM
Haha yeah you did, but we forgive you. And thank you, we like our shoes!

I guess it's time for my report.
It was a fairly standard TLE gig. They played Into The Red (my fav) so I was happy. Eboogie was awesome as always, but I was disappointed that they didn't play the ep medley. But I got to see out my 25th year of life with a TLE gig so I can't really complain as that's pretty awesome.
Highlights:
* Missing the Red Riders
* The wanker EoF chick who wanted to fight me because I said EoF were really boring (apparently you're only allowed to have an opinion of a band in Canberra if it's a positive one!)
* Into The Red!
* Andy birthday hugs
* Meeting Kev and Aaron and their friends who gave me much vodka (i love youse kids) and hanging with them at our hotel afterwards
* Hanging with Kim, Hugo and Todd (I love youse kids even more)
* Kim's drunkeness
* Kim saying to Andy: "We're staying at the Medina. Room 701. We have heaps of Coronas. You should totally come over" hahaha
* The chicken burger on the way to the gig
Lowlights:
* The Red Riders joining TLE on stage for Uncle Harry
* No pubs being open in Canberra on a Sunday night
Special thanks to Kim for organising the trip. I love you Kimbeeee!
P.S What happened to Weston?

That's what she said (someone should so start a scrubs quotes thread, i'd visit the forums so much more aye) -Yeah awesomeness. It's such a small world - Aaron recognised my girlfriend cos he knew her friend or something. Candis was the chick that had pink and yellow hair. Awesome show as always, liked the blindfold playing and the addition of ant on backing vocals for uncle harry. Ant rules, got us on the doorlist for the U18 shelly show. Anyway i had a blanket and a cap and orangey hair bumming round after the show - and i was the todd as i had no sleeves. And my friend was the tall chick with pink and brown hair and the andy shirt, lol. Great way to wrap up a great tour seeing 6 shows in nsw. And if it wasn't for major car dramas, i too would have been drinking coronas, but alas i had to leave the esky behind. If i wasn't such a slacker and actually frequented the forums i would have recognised people and talked to people more.
Cheers all

Oh - so its your fault everyones names are always incorrectly spelt in photo captions.
