I'm heading to the Sydney gig on Thursday night and i've got those E tickets that I got thru the presale. Has anyone else had any trouble getting into any gigs so far with them and what do we actually have to do or take to make sure we get in as theres not paper/solid ticket for it.

I was actually very surprised at how efficient the system was. All I had to do was walk into the box office (which at Newcastle is the front door), tell them my name and show ID and they gave me an envelope with my tickets. Simple as that.

Does anyone have an info on where to go to get (pick up) the tickets for the Sydney show. I've never been to the Big Top

At the front door/gate.

The Dying Start isn't to helpful. You've got a moderator from another part of the country sticking in his two cents and trying to be funny about it when all that is needed is a serious answer.

It's true, the box office at the Big Top is very easy to find. If you walk into Luna Park and walk almost to the end it's on your right, right next to the entry.

o noez!

The newbie is dissing our Glenn! :O

for what it's worth though - i wouldn't mind proper info about where to go to get to the big top either but hey - i can always just work it out when i get to Sydney!

Edit* thanks Disease for elaborating (on what Glenn said) - that's good to know! :D i'm starting to get a tad excited about the show - it's about time though!

Thanks Disease. Thats the help I was looking for, as opposed to what some other people offer

Fucken hell. I'm not a retard. I was being serious. You have to pick up your tickets from the door or the gate depending on the venue. The box office is always located next to the entrance....or else it wouldn't work. If you can't find the entrance you're not gonna be able to get into the venue anyway. My reply was completely sincere and I resent your rediculous assumptions about me.

I'm glad someone else was able to elaborate, but my post still stands.

"This place isn't too helpful"...well I'm glad you've taken all of your 4 posts to come to a genuine and fair conclusion about a decent community.

Does anyone have any experience with the ticket-purchaser not being able to collect the tickets?

The Canberra show tomorrow night is goint to be a real pain if we can't collect our tickets, because the person who ordered them isn't coming with us anymore. I've tried contacting the venue, but it won't be staffed until a couple of hours before the show starts, apparently, which is useless if we need a signed declaration or something.

Basically, we need to know what must be done to enable someone else to collect the tickets instead (usually ID is needed, etc). Useful suggestions?

We had been told it would be okay for somebody else to pick up the ticket (if we printed out the email with the info), but when we got there they wouldn't let us get the tickets. So we all had to pay for tickets.

Maybe if you could grab some ID off the person whose name it's under. That might help.

Ugh, what a horrible experience. We'll try to get as much of that stuff as possible. Thanks for the tip.

The stuff you suggested is best idea. ID, signed declaration (if possible). Might depend on the venue. Maybe the door bitches at Palace were just tight :p

i met *M! in the line up at luna park & we nearly had a heart attack when some knob-jock security guard told us that we needed the credit card holder's id!!! but he had no idea & we waited until the box office opened & then the people there said all you need is photo id of the person who the tickets were 'billed to'...not the credit card holder. so coz im under 18 i used my mums credit card to buy the tix but they were 'billed' to my name...therefore all i had to show was MY id. it was all pretty easy...despite the bone head security guy!!! so whoever the tickets were 'billed' to needs to collect them.
hope that helps people!!

I didn't realise there had actually been problems with this junk. That sucks if you had to buy new tickets.

Wow all this e-ticket stuff sounds pretty stressful
I'm glad I decided to get hard tickets sent out.

They often make them available near the exit so you can pick it up on your way out.

Bec
10-14-2006, 10:59 PM
Yeah, they wouldn't give it back encase we tried to use it at the gig the next day.

maddie
10-14-2006, 11:00 PM
Nah they wouldn't let us at both the Melbourne unders shows, just in case we tried to re-use them the next night.

It was just cos the security didn't want to have to bother actually reading the tickets.

*edit* Damn beaten to it :p

Yeah, they wouldn't give it back encase we tried to use it at the gig the next day.

That's BULLSHIT. The dates are there for a reason. Laziness is no option.

Bec

I know.. those security guards were pretty slack
Probably could have just handed them a green piece of paper and gotten away with it, they didn't check the tickets at all.
Plus the gig after the second night was over 18s, so it was unlikely many of us were gonna try and re-use our old tickets there. If they were unobservant enough to let a bunch of kids into an over 18s gig with tickets from another night, they probably shouldn't be doing that job.

Oh well, at least I have photos of the tickets.

By comparison, the security at The Grates show at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney on Saturday were really helpful. They said that the tickets had probably been taken by the staff back to the cloakroom, so just to ask there. We did, and were handed a wad of them!

TPA/Oztix e-tickets seem to be more hassle than they're worth. We managed to pick them up at Canberra despite the purchaser not being with us (we had a signed statement, and her ID and booking receipt), but the main problem was that the Ticketek people had never heard of Oztix, and had no record of any such sales. Eventually their manager handed them a piece of paper with a list of names, but the tickets hadn't been printed and there was a problem with the machine... Argh. After a long time, a lot of stressed-out phonecalls to their bosses, and a bit of fiddling with the computer, a solution was found.

But damn, next time I'm getting paper tickets.

my etix wasn't as stressful as Aaron and Kevin's one - but i didn't see the value in not actually having physical tickets - it's not like i would've forgotten to take them or anything - and i would have had a better place at the concert which may have actually meant that i enjoyed myself at the Luna Park show more - maybe not though - i really despised that venue...

also (sode not - absolutely nothing to do with anything regarding etix) Aaron: this is the first typo i've ever seen you make!!!! :O

Eventually their manager handed them a pice of paper with a list of names... :O :p

haha - i know - it was a golden opportunity though - so i couldn't resist being the person to bring this once in a life time spelling error opportunity to everyone's attention :p

i can't spell so i really shouldn't correct anyone but hey... that wasn't exactly what my intention was anyway :p

plus Azfish knows i still (L) him* *giggles* even though he can't spell

I make them all the time, but I read my posts after I submit them (which is more than some peopleAndrecan manage!) and then edit them. Nothing like changing the past to solve problems :)

The e-tickets seem like a good idea at the time because you don't have to pay for postage, and there's the convenience of not leaving them at home (when it happens, it sucks). But the idea is executed really badly. Until things improve, I won't be using the service again.

*M!
10-16-2006, 05:26 PM
what they SHOULD do with e tix is:

whoever gets them lines up at the window or whatever, then when they get it all sorted - they just go straight into the venue - cuts down on the paper wasting!

one day everyone will use etix just 'cause it'll be "faster" (if it's done the way i just said) BUT that'll be the day i have regular cardboard tickets again - 'cause that way i'll be at the front of the line... hehehe!

and as for changing the past... my post will serve as a memorial for all typos you make and then correct sneakily without anyone else being aware of... :p

Unlucky for everyone who had problems, that sucks.. but like I said.. mine were fine. I walked in and there was a window which said "Prepaid Tickets", so I walked up to it and told the lady my name and she sifted through a box of alphabetically sorted envelopes, found one with my name and handed it to me. Simple as that. I actually got there a bit early, almost expecting to have some problems, but then it was just as easy as that.

I would've actually preferred hard copy tickets, but I got mine late and the only option left was E-tix, so that's what I took.
