in that case i'd just do what i did to one of my teles...
Put a humbucking replacement in.. I went for a dimarzio fast track II. did the job.. hotted the guitar up quite abit

On the topic of pickups, I have a guitar in the shape of a Fender (an Ashton to be precise) and it's currently got two humbuckers. Is it possible to fit in a hilotron in there or do humbuckers and hilotrons have different dimensions sizewise?

yeah man i dunno if my pickups are faulty or not i know that single coil pickups can pickup the electromagnetic radiation shit when i took my guitar in for a service i asked him to check the pick ups but i dont think he did the cunt
and how much did that set you back? did you that yourself?

Yeah I put it in myself and purchased the pickup for $160 I think.
For the other guy... Hmmm i'm probably the biggest Gretsch head in the country (apart from chris cheney and maybe john @ guitar crazy) so its gotta mean something when I say Dont put in a hilotron.. They have insanely weak output and dont do guitars justice in my opinion. Go filtertron or dynasonic before hilotron

I would go with filtertrons or maybe some seymour duncans- I have some custom ones fitted to a godin and they are awesome pick ups. No idea of the cost in aussie dollars though.

seymour duncan invader is the hottest seymour duncan pickup, it costs $200-$300, tom delonge (blink 182) uses them in his strats, theyre frickin loud
the hottest gibson pickup is a dirty fingers, i dont know what its worth, tom delonge uses them in his gibson things (ES-330).

So it's possible to put in a TV Jones pickup into a normal (if you could say normal) guitar without having to carve out some wood from the guitar?
