Just heard about this. Apparently there were around 6 on the flight that died - and Travis is in a serious condition in hospital with serious burns from the waist down - allegedly. Hope he recovers. R.I.P to those who died.

We've now learned why Barker and his friends decided to get on that doomed Learjet in South Carolina late last night, and the explanation can only be described as a horribly cruel twist of fate.

It all started some time yesterday, when Barker's assistant, Chris Baker, told the guys that his wife was going into labor. Barker told him that he would do everything in his power to get Baker back to the hospital in time.

The quickest way back to Van Nuys was that Learjet. We're told Barker usually won't fly on private jets, but made an exception for what was supposed to be one of the happiest moments of Baker's life.

The plane crashed shortly after midnight, killing four people -- including Chris Baker. Baker's wife went into labor early this morning. Baker has another young child as well."

That's a really sad story actually. One of those situations where you wonder what would happen if you made a different decision... Condolences to that family and those who died.

Following up on yesterday's story, Billboard has an update on Travis Barker and DJ AM, who were critically injured in a plane crash this past Friday.

The medical director at the Georgia burn hospital where both men are being treated says they are expected to make a full recovery. Dr. Fred Mullins has revealed that the musicians are being treated for second and third degree burns, recovery from which can take as long as a year. Barker was burned on his torso while DJ AM, real name Adam Goldstein, was burned on his hands and part of his head. Both men are in critical but stable condition and have no other injuries from the crash.
