View Full Version : I'm a beginner on Guitar, whats the easiest TLE song?

i'm self-teaching myself the guitar, (acoustic, might get lessons on electric) but i was wondering what's the easiest Living End songs to learn?

i've heard Black Cat, Short Notice, Wake Up and Who's gonna Save Us are easy, but i wanted to check

(also, anyone know what the cheapest and pretty good electric guitar is priced at? and also the approx. price of a Gretsch?)

If you sift through the Musician's Corner you'll find a few more threads pretty much exactly like this that will help you. Uncle Harry is damn easy though.

getting the picking exactly right in the start of wake up is the hard bit- the rest is a piece of piss though. Otherwise, we want more, black cat and blinded are pretty simple

The Chords for Love are easy, took me weeks to figure out the solo, in the end i could only get some of it because the Tab was different to the live version, so i just improvise the Smoke on the water solo in there :)

prisnor of society was my first TLE song 2 learn, its prety easy, although didnt learn the guitar solo till a few years after.

on terms of cheep good guitars, i have a holow body samich greg bennit royal, cost me bout $700, and i still love it. thats keeping in midn that i have just got a gretsch, you can pick up the electromatic gretsch's for prety cheep incomparison to a "real" gretsch otherwise your looking at around 2.5 to 3 grand 2 start yourself off on a nice gretch.

so a gretsch electromatic is $700.. and proper gretsch is $2000

.... do you think it better to save up for a "proper" gretsch, or buy the electromatic, and then sell that later when i have enough for real gretsch..

gosh, if Chris has TWELVE, then he's got a load a money :D

yeah sorry bout that chaps. also the $700 i said about was for my samich, not shrue how much an electromatic is worth, i know theres a jet electromatic in my local billy hide's for about $900 at the moment, but the holow body ones are a bit more.

dude those songs would be hard for a uber noob guitar player. they would be easy for someone who knows what they are doing but :p
and the following solo's would be hard aswell for a low level guitar player; WOYR, ATD, END OF THE WORLD(not even most good guitarists on the forum can do it) Growing up(falling down) and yeah second solution.

it just depends how profficient you are on the guitar i guess.

someone who has been playing in a sucessful band and who was like a awesome guitarist could say all TLE song's are easy :p

its really to do with how good you are :D

Most of end of the world solo is actually kinda easy, you just slide up and down the guitar. Then it gets hard. I've only been playing for 6 months BTW.

what i've been wondering, since jason has tabbed them all, can he play them all?
videos please :p

he could take the tab page to the next level by having videos of playing the hard bits, but i imagine the costs of hosting that much bandwidth would be quite high

Is that right? Im sure there is actually more than one chord in the verse. Isn't the verse a 12 bar? I havent heard the song in a while

it goes to a F then a G and then back to the Am and then it goes to a G right before the chorus which is C F G!

Black Cat is definately the easiest Living End song on guitar, no solo and the rhythm is mostly picking notes. Wake Up is pretty easy too if you can play the intro.

The hard part about Black Cat is getting the feel and sound right. It may not have a lot to it, but it takes a lot to play it without sounding like an arse.

The thing about TLE (and most bands), is you require a degree of skill to be able to play most songs. Once you've reached that level u can pretty much play anything. I'd definitely say the new album is far more easier to play than some of their older stuff. Much more simpler that's for sure.

Which could be one of the reasons I like it so much? I found Roll On took hundreds of listens before I really appreciated it, which I guess goes to show that sometimes by keeping things simpler you get the message across more easily to a broader audience. But yeah, I think Roll On is absolutely brillant. Just has something about which not many people can appreciate.

I'd have to agree and say the earlier stuff, up until Modern Artillery probably requires you to have a bit more skill than what you would normally classify as a piece of guitar music. You have to remember, we are talking about Chris Cheney here :P. You just have to listen to Closing In to understand what we are dealing with, and that is a pure guitar genius.

To agree, Black Cat and Wake Up are fairly easy to play. The first TLE song i learnt was Second Solution which other than the solo aint too hard, but requires you to know about full chords and other technical things...

Start with the newest album and work your way back i reckon :P

I mean, sure the intro is simple on No Way Out. But some of the other chords are a bit harder to play for absolute beginners. That's why I believe you just have to practise like crazy and it'll all fall into place eventually. Sometimes I think people want results way too quickly and they get dissapointed.

I dunno about everyone else here, but I was unable to play any Living End songs to a satisfactory level until I'd been playing for a few months. If your a beginner but want to play some some songs, look into punk music or basic rockabilly 12 bar blues stuff.

All town down is in a Really Common key, so it probably is a song Beginers can actualy use, (C#m/E) I Throw in some living end for a song thats the same key when i play it for the church band (Is that weird? ;)
