Awesome lineup again for me. Billy Talent, New Found Glory, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus (pending they don't pull out again), Alkaline Trio, Funeral For A Friend, Goldfinger ... looking forward to all these guys. Hope there isn't too many clashes.
Anybody notice that the dates they go on sale don't make sense? Like for Melbourne it says Saturday 13th October, but the 13th is a Monday.
Price look decent again. I forgot how much it was last year.

No Jimmy Eat World. AJ said they want like 1.5 million to come to aus!

RIVAL SCHOOLS!!!!!
I couldn't believe it when I saw it yesterday! Do yourselves a favor and check them out if you go to Soundwave (or if they do a sideshow) and also what was supposed to be their only album "United By Fate".
Add to that the importance of bands that Walter Schreiffels has been in (Quicksand, Youth Of Today, Gorilla Biscuits etc) and you know that you're in for a good time!
AND FACE TO FACE! Amazing! I knew they couldn't stay broken up forever.
I'm hoping for sideshows by;
* Face To Face
* Goldfinger
* Rival Schools
* Bedouin Soundclash (missed em last time!); and
* Riverboat Gamblers
Potential for a bunch of co-headlining shows across the board.
The only disappointment for me is Alice In Chains. If it ain't got Layne Staley it ain't got shit! Waste of time.

Goldfinger are gonna be doing side shows to make up for their cancelled tour recently.

There are more to be announced yeah? Cause I heard Gallows were playing
More like lamewave 2009. Not a single band I'd want to see. I'm disapointed there's no decent smaller australian hardcore bands playing.
and @ outlaw love song regarding Walter Schreiffels...
I've never listened to rival schools before you posted about them, and I just did then.
Lets just say the "musical direction" he's taken greatly saddens me..
how much were tickets going for again?
I'm keen for a few bands on the line up. So will be going to my first festival in a long time...

Early Bird On Sale Date Postponed
In order to avoid the unfortunate clash with The Big Day Out on sale week which has caused some distress to fans wanting to attend both festivals, we have postponed the SW09 Early Bird On Sale by 2 weeks.
New Dates as follows:
BRISBANE: THURS 23 Oct @ 9am
SYDNEY: FRI 24 Oct @ 9am
MELBOURNE: SAT 25 Oct @ 9am
ADELAIDE: SUN 26 Oct @ 9am
PERTH: SUN 26 Oct @9am
And
Scars On Broadway have cancelled
Scars On Broadway has announced that they will be cancelling all tour dates with no plans to reschedule. Apparantly, the reason given is that singer/guitarist Daron Malakian doesn't feel that his heart is into touring at the present time.
Scars On Broadway sold just under 24,000 copies of their debut album this year and features System Of A Down members Daron Malakian and John Dolmayan.
Promoters words:
Just got the email from management. Scars are off the bill.
It appears to me like a certain band member has thrown his dummy out of the pram and decided he doesn't want to do this anymore. Harden the fuck up indeed...

The Subways, Hellogoodbye, Rdd Suit.
I'm there again this year. You'll have to actually meet me this time Jess and not hide in the background of my photos. Drink some pale ale, ah I'm stoked.
Soundwave is great :)

With reports that the company behind the Soundwave Festival – KMW Productions – is facing liquidation, FasterLouder can confirm the Soundwave Festival 2009 is definitely going ahead. When we contacted the promoters, we were assured that KMW and Soundwave are separate entities and this situation will not affect any part of the 2009 tour.
The reason for FasterLouder’s inquiry was a public report on the Australian Securities & Investments Commission website stating that KMW has received ‘Notification of Appointment of Liquidator By The Court’.
They might be seperate identities, but KMW pay for the majority of the stuff.
Mr Reznor will go postal if he doesn't get paid.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
RE KMW PRODUCTIONS PTY LTD (in liq)
The company is currently in administration arising from a claim of approximately AUD $3,000 in origin.
This bill pertains to a catering dispute where we believed that the good and services were not delivered. This was communicated on a number of occasions to the plaintiff’s representatives, along with name and details of witnesses which included Council and Police employees.
The plaintiff’s “lawyer”/glorified debt-collector took the matter to court without, as far as I am aware, serving KMW with a summons order. In other words, they had themselves a party and we were not invited. Truth is, I was really looking forward to this party.
As they say, no one expects the Spanish inquisition and I for one certainly did not expect to get a judgement notice delivered to us a short while ago.
KMW Productions has been and will again continue to remain one of the World’s most successful promoters. The company has sufficient cash in the bank to settle this matter several hundred times over.
I expect to have this matter reversed and thrown out of court in a matter of days and for the company to recommence trading again.
In the meanwhile, I am settling any bills to KMW Productions personally, so as to ensure there are no bills outstanding, no damage to reputations, etc.
Thank you for the amazing amount of interest & support in this matter.
It should also be noted that KMW is a separate company and legal entity to Soundwave Festival Pty Ltd; and 3Wise Recording Pty Ltd and the current status of KMW does not affect the dealings and day to day running of those other corporations; nor their contractual rights and obligations.

Just a little bit about the Bloodhound Gang sideshow. Best gig ever that ive been too (sorry TLE and Stray Cats)
I went there with intentions of it being just another show, but apart from them putting on the best live show I have ever seen including many funny jokes, Evil Jarred chaining a huge amp box t his Nuts and pulling it across the stage, Sculling a jug of beer, then barfing it back into the jug, then sculling it again. Someone in the crowd yelling out to Jimmy Pop that the Carlton Football Club Guernsey he was wearing was shit, so he told Evil Jarred it would be worth more if he barfed on it while he was wearing it, so He did. To Laurens disgust that jumper is now sitting proudly in our lounge room. By the way they also played a few songs. They opened with The opener form their latest album a song called "balls out" and the set just got better and better, with such hits along the way as "I wish I was queer (so I could get chicks)" "Ralph Wiggum", "The Bad Touch" went off as to be expected and finally after One hour and 15 minutes of Awesomeness Closing with crowd Favourite "Fire Water Burn"
Some of the backstage antics include the band signing the setlist for me, and signing my nipple, plus Jimmy pop stealing my phone when Lauren called me and telling her to fuck off cos me him and a tranny were making out....which at this point is wear he give me the Carlton Jumper he was wearing :)

I must admit that Bloodhound Gang is one of the best gigs I've been to ever :D
I went to the Nine Inch Nails sideshow last night.
HOLY FUCK was it awesome. Best gig I've been too ever. Even better than seeing the Foo Fighters 2 nights in a row. And we were so close to the band it was awesome.

Awesome, glad you had a great time. There's a warning on the soundwave site that people with epilepsy shouldnt watch NIN cause of their lighting set up, so i can't watch them!
Yeah it was full on with stobes last night.
I counted (and I think) there was 30 strobes, and there was a heap of other lights that could do strobe effects. And they all went off during one of the songs and tripped people out.
