I remember the exact moment I first heard The Living End; I was in our art classroom in Primary School and Prisoner of Society came on the radio. It quickly became our classes anthem.

POS, way back in 1999. I rememeber being an assistant DJ for my college radio station, and thinking that these guys sound really pissed off. But lo and behold they're quite nice.

boringly enough - my first TLE audio experience was "Prisoner of Society" too!
*shocked*

i would have been 15 and it came along at the right time in my life to make an impact...

these things you don't quite realise until you're older (generally) and will go to any lengths to buy things that can in any way relate to the band...

isn't this thread sorta covered in the "your TLE Milestones (http://www.thelivingend.com.au/vBforum/showthread.php?t=102)" thread though?

spice girls? i remember them... one of there songs i liked. i wasn't what you'd call a "fan" but i did like some of their stuff

(a lota bands i like some of their stuff.. eskimo joe, evermore, the living end and evanescence have been the bands that i've liked a lot of their stuff)

i liked a lot of TLE stuff, but didn't realise until this year that some of the songs I actually KNEW but didn't know they were by them.. Blast from the Past.. well, kinda

Lol, even my mum knows Prisoner of Society, and she lives under a rock where music is concerned! She couldn't tell you what it was called, though, she'd probably know who it was by considering that I hardly shut up about TLE during my post-concert-euphoria.

Pretty typical.....saw the Prisoner of Society clip on Rage every Saturday morning for a few weeks when I was in year 4 (I always watched Rage because I was obsessed with HANSON! Remember them?). I thought the song was pretty damn awesome. But I didn't really understand why these three guys were dressing up in silly clothes, and running around the streets and then all of a sudden playing a rock concert. :)

Who's Gonna Save Us when it came out. I distinctly remember going to school and having the video clip stuck in my head. Good morning that was.

Prisoner of Society.

I remember running around the house singing it at the top of my voice when I was 7 or 8. God, that really pissed off my parents. That was the time when we were moving from QLD to SA and let me you now, my family didn't exactly enjoy the car ride down here. :p

I think it must have been POS when it was a single. I dont remember hearing it but when i got in to TLE it was the one song that i knew all the words to so i assume it was the first i heard. And being the first single they released that might also be why!

(he was a real wankstain!)

Lots of people know POS so we just sing it when we have relief teachers in music.

A girl at my skating rink has music mix cds and she actually had TLE on some of them, but didn't even know who they were (she gets songs off of shows, like the background music for the O.C. and such). The first TLE song I heard was Whos Gonna Save Us and on another cd was West End Riot. I was too shy to ask what the song was, so I frantically searched the web for a song called Who's Gonna Save Us. A guy I know from Australia greatly assisted me afterwards.

That'd be 'Ready' on the Short Music compilation.

Thought it sounded 'interesting' so checked the band out on the interweb. Rest is history etc.

The Dying Start
10-27-2006, 12:01 AM
Hahaha...that makes it sound like you got sick of the song and changed the channel to something else before the solo, however i presume you mean you tuned in to the station IN TIME to see that part?!

my first was growing up back in '98...my sister had ordered the ST cd from australia, and that was the first song i remember hearing.
it just stuck in my head and i begged her to play it every day until she just gave me the cd.
the strangest thing is, it's my only tle album that doesn't have a song that skips(besides SOE, but give me time), and yet it's the one i play the most.

to this day, growing up is still my favorite song in the whole world, by any band.

The Dying Start

It's meant to be like that, a bit like Fond Farewell. But it's a kick ass song.

The first song i heard was whats on your radio at the start of the year. I only listened to the singles off their new album until one day when i got on the bus and my friend had his ipod. He let me listen to it and i put it on shuffle and then POS came on and im like "this song kicks ass" and i looked down and it said The Living End. Loved em ever since.

No it's not. Sometimes it takes 2,3 or even more listens of a song for someone to to like it. I know people who, in the last few years, have only just started to like some of the songs off of TLE's self titled album.

POS was the 1st song i heard...so i would have been 12-13...and the thing i remembered from the video clip was the dude with the book saying the words...
For me it is the guy who screws up his face and does some sort of "punk-rocker" thing with his arms/hand...or something like that! :p I remember it looks as though his eye is going to pop out!

It maybe cliche but it was prisoner of society.

The Dying Start
11-25-2006, 10:34 AM
It's only a cliche because it was the most whored song of 1998! Anyone who didn't hear it must've been living in a bubble.

I kind of remember it but i didnt no it was living end. I was really young
