I've decided recently to buy a record player, so now I have to choose some worthy acoustic system for it.
By now I have Sony, it was something like 500$ (including amp,5 speakers and player deck itself). It's fine for watching moovies, but playing music it sounds not as good as I expect...
Just want to know your choices, which brands do you guys prefer, are you pleased with sound quality of what you have now, how much did it cost etc...
hope that you can help me deciding what to save money for!:)

I'm really only bumping this because its a real post but it kind of looks lost amongst all the spam.

( i know english isn't amurs first language so im not sure, did she really mean 'acoustic system' or like, stereo system or something)

thank you.
well I meant rather stereo system then, but to me (and according to our technic shops) there's no difference in terms "acoustic system" and "stereo system" :)

My best advice is to take a CD of your favourite music into a store and try it on as many stereo systems as you can. What sounds the "best" is entirely in the ears of the listener.

I really like your photography, by the way!

yeah that's a good idea though I always feel awkward being in store and walk around trying all they have, usually i choose what I want to buy reading foreign reviews/details on the internet.
also, I don't know how it goes in other countries, but most stores in russia have less than 10 systems turned on, connected, and ready to test. I told that I want to choose speakers only (which is called acoustic system, not the system with CD player deck etc),and then amp to them, of course. So these systems are less likely to be tested on sound quality exactly in store...that's a silly situation,I know. They only can turn it on, show that it works and then give it to you when you've already bought it.
so I'm only collecting other's opinions on this stage.
