Billy Joe is as well.
I am a mad GD fan myself but i think that they are such a good group in all ways that it covers for the lack of talent in the music. I' not saying they aren;t talented but i'm saying that they aren;t as good as many other musos.

10-29-2006, 10:21 AM
Well i would would seriously rate my drumming potential higher than Tre's; and thats saying something cos im not exactly the flashest goin round.
Anyway if you wanted a good Alternative Rock band this would be it:
Lead guitar - Chris Cheney [The Living End]
Drums - Josh Freese [A Perfect Circle]
Bass - Tim Commerford [Audioslave]

Vocals- Craig Nicholls - just love his harmonies and he has a great yell (when he's doing it properly) and a superb Brian Wilsonesque falsetto
Lead G- Chris- because i love his style and he's a beast- also backing vocals
Rhythm G/ Keys- Matt Bellamy- because that guy is so incredible- also backing vocals
Bass- Chris Wolstenholm- again muse... I think the hysteria bassline says it all
Drums- tough call on this one... Possibly Dave Grohl. I wouldn't have said Andy until recently but he has gone up so much in my books and he compliments Chris so well. Failing that probably Matt Tong from Bloc Party because he is absolutely fucking incredible.
KillingInTheNameOf

King Diamond - vocals
Wayne Static (Static-X) - vocals/programming
Corey Beauleu (Trivium) - lead guitar/growls
John Schaffer (Iced Earth) - rhythm guitar/songwriting
Bass - pfft who needs a bass player :p
Richard Chrisy (ex-Death) - drums
Methinks that would be a pretty sweet thrash/power/goth metal styled band
KillingInTheNameOf

Thrash outfit:
Tom Araya (Slayer) - bass/vocals
Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy) - drums
Mickael Akerfeldt (Opeth) - guitar/melodic vocals
Fredrick Thordendal (Meshuggah) - guitar
Kev's allstar Blues lineup:
* B. B. King - vocals and guitar
* Jeff "Skunk" Baxter - guitar
* Gary U.S. Bonds - vocals
* Eric Clapton - vocals and guitar
* Clarence Clemons - vocals, tenor saxophone and tambourine
* Jack DeJohnette - drums
* Bo Diddley - vocals and guitar
* Jon Faddis - trumpet
* Isaac Hayes - vocals
* Dr. John - vocals and piano
* Tommy McDonnell - vocals

* Joshua Redman - tenor saxophone
* Paul Shaffer - director and vocals
* Koko Taylor - vocals
* Travis Tritt - vocals and guitar
* Jimmie Vaughan - vocals and guitar
* Willie Weeks - bass guitar

eewwww Dr John and Jimmie Vaughan.
Double eeww to Paul Shaffer. That man don't know the blues. He told B.B King he was singing the wrong lyrics to which Clapton, who was jamming with King and Buddy Guy under the direction of Paul Shaffer, said "the lyrics are what he says they are". Imagine having the gall to tell B.B King, Eric Clapton and Buddy Guy they be playing a blues song wrong.

Steve Harris (Iron Maiden) - bass
Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden) - drums
Sam Totman (DragonForce) - guitar
Matt Heafy (Trivium) - guitar and some vox cept Barlow is a god so you wouldnt really need Heafy's voice that much

Nothing wrong with Grohl's gravel-like vocals. Itd be similar to Dave Larkins, and would produce some wicked hard rock/rockabilly tracks.
Besides we also have Strachan here as drummer, one of Aus's finest, so I might aswell just leave him where hes happy :P

King Diamond (Mercyful Fate) - vocals: most unique metal vocalist that I've heard
Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth) - lead guitar/backing vocals: not a huge Opeth fan but man can this guy both play guitar and sing
Jeff Waters (Annihilator) - lead/rhythm guitars: just startin to get into Annihilator so it seems suitable that their mastermind would be included
Cliff Burton (Metallica) - bass: better than Flea. RIP the greatest rock/metal bassist to grace the Earth
Dave Lombardo (Slayer) - drums: don't need to say too much, but clearly the top candidate for the skins in this all metal band

Another Axl Rose delayed project, if it's anything like him...
Axl Rose - Vocals
Buckethead - Lead Guitar(Buckethead was in Guns 'n' Roses from 2001 - 2004 AND IS A GUN.)
Slash - Lead Guitar too(He's too good to be put in the Rhythm part)
Ben Shepherd - Bass
Brad Wilk - Drums
Thar be a good group.
Actually, just have Buckethead on his own. He owns them all.

03-22-2007, 04:07 PM
lol Buckethead's funny.

TheBait
03-22-2007, 04:25 PM
Buckethead's fast. Who cares about fast though? That's why Herman Li's shit, IMO. Buckethead has personality, character. Better than some random Chinese guy who can play guitar. Herman's alright, but Buckethead rocks his arse. Listen to Soothsayer and tell me it didn't send shivers down your spine. King James is an amazing song.
Slash...SLASH. How did I forget him.
Grumma
03-22-2007, 04:30 PM
How can you say Herman Li is shit on the basis he plays fast?
He also adds heaps of inventive sound effects to his playing. Just cos he chooses to play fast doesn't mean he can't do other stuff

Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys et all) - Vocals, because I like his voice and politicised lyrics.
Johnny Thunders (New York Dolls, The Heartbreakers) - Guitar, because he's my favourite guitarist
Richard Hell (The Voidoids) - Bass, He's the only bass player I can think of atm who interests me
Albert Hammond Jr (The Strokes) - Rhythm Guitar, he play's good ryhthm i.e not too flashy
Nick Knox (The Cramps) - I like the way he drums and he doesn't waste time with cymbals
I doubt anyone else would like this, but I'd like to think they'd be quite good.

The greatest Thrash/Speed/Prog/Death Metal band ever:
Vox - George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher
Rhythm Guitar - Kirk Hammett
Lead Guitar - Herman Leeroy
Bass - No bass. John Petrucci will play a pitch pipe while riding a unicycle.

That's right. No genre for you, son.
Has anyone heard much of the Saboteurs music? (Raconteurs overseas)
If you don't know , they're a "superband" with Jack White and some other guys.

Well for starters I suck, and Hammett is overrated by a lot of people

Hammet is cooler than thou.
And I don't know a metal drummer so Grumma automatically comes to mind.

Herman Li's a fella you'd wanna hang out with coz hes a rad dude. Yngwie Malmsteen is a guy youd wanna hang out with to see how much it takes to inflate his head. If you wanted to hang out with him at all, that is.

think DragonForce are best summed up by saying it's impossible to hang shit on them for the simple fact they don't take themselves seriously enough
