All the silver fade is giving me a headache....and no avatars or sig images! Argh!I'm finding it hard to scroll through postings with the huge name headers at the top of every post. Guess I'll get used to it. *sigh*
i don't wanna have to get used to it - i want the board before the tmb board to not be hacked!
:(
i'm SO confused by this board - my poor brain is going - ouch - stop doing this to me you mean person!
also - i should be doing work but i don't wanna!

I like these boards but the ones I go to have a far better colour scheme for the eyes and the layouts a bit better.
What do these circle things mean next to everyones name?
I dont know what I am doing, nor do I know what I am talking about
haha! good effort! :D
also - i think that the circles next to everyone's name mean online and offline...
might not be - kinda makes most sense though...
*M!
Online/Offline?
And as for the colour scheme, I have my browser settings fixed so that it ignores the backgrounds, so it's basically a white board for me - no complaints there. But the divides between each persons posts could be a bit clearer...
I'm getting the hang of things now. did you know that you can add things to the calendar and you can even upload shit from your computer!! it's so cool. :)
oooh - you'll have to share your knowledge...
i know nothing - it's freaking me out!
*M!
http://www.thelivingend.com/vBforum/faq.php?faq=vb_faq#faq_vb_user_maintain
that shows you all the neat little tricks the board has. I only just noticed that after playing around and clicking everything hehehe :P
and to upload pictures etc. from your computer just click the paper clip next to the smiley face. no-more imageshack or photobucket problems :D
and polls show your option in italics once you have voted!! that's so cool. no more forgetting what option I chose ;)

Is the Gig Talk forum just for TLE gigs? Should gigs for other bands go under the Other forum?
Nah, gig talk has always been for everyone - but it's only TLE gigs that usually get pinned! :)
i'm a bit excited...
tomorrow night i have to go to our local dramatic society 'cause they're casting a new set of plays... (they're one act plays so i don't/won't have to learn many lines - if i get a part!)

The Dying Start
09-06-2006, 04:07 PM
In early 2003, "Mat & Glenn's Crap Thread" was born. The by line was simply "post here please". This thread became a TLE Board institution within a very short period of time, and has lasted through the good times and the bad times. It has withstood attacks from the Page Pug. It has survived a terrorist attack from the governing body of the Forums (who apprently weren't Nazi's or Elitist...they just deleted threads without reason and then when new moderators were appointed they labelled the new ones as such). It has survived 3 different TLE Forums! And with only one name change in it's entire history, continues to provide modern day Boarders with a place to spew their crap. Let the nostalgia begin!
The first ever post was of course from the founder of Mat & Glenn's Crap Thread, "Kirsty". Sadly she is no longer a reg, she can often be spotted at TLE shows or Boarder populated functions.
Kirsty, Feb 19 2003
ok guys, talk your crap here ok? I wanna see how many pages you can get it too..
Glenn was of course the first of the two whores to post in the new thread. In fact seeing as he was online at the time, and mat was not...it can be assumed that it was Glenn's rampant post whoring that was the final straw for Kirsty, resulting in the thread's creation.
The Dying Start, Feb 19 2003
lmaosb. OMG i love you Kirsty
this is the best present anyone could give
HEY MAT....COM PLAY! WE GOT OUR OWN PLAYROOM!!
The first page held stunning Crap contributions from favourite members such as Fritz, GosfordCityPunk, incubus, metle, RenTheRude, Jake_TLE before mat finally surfaced and in surprisingly good form, managed to finish of Page 1 with a magnificent 7 posts in succession (I do believe a Board Record at this time). In typical mat Newton style, he used rediculously large and confusing words such as "Banility", "Ostentacious", "Triviality", "Procrastinate" and "Busy". It was in this run of 7 posts that mat posted his prediction that we would propel this thread to at least 460 pages.
mat, Feb 20 2003
call me ostentacious but me and glenn will have this thing purring for a long time... till at least, 460 pages or so.
all are welcome to contribute!!
mat.
mat's 7 posts in succession did not last for long...he started page 2 with an unbelievable 8 posts. Bringing his successive post tally to 15! His run of crap was finally halted by metle's post...
metle, Feb 20 2003
you must have really sore fingers and be really bored.....i just finished reading the other topic to but couldn't get a word in edgeways :P
mat followed this post with a reply which perhaps gives us a little too much insight into his private life...
mat Feb 20 2003
i have a real sore butt and am real bored.
fingers are coping fine...
mat.
At the start of page three there was a brief ruckus from MissyA regarding the point of such a thread. It was quickly...(very quickly!) pointed out by GosfordCityPunk that the thread was designed to keep mat & Glenn confined to one thread and reduce the amount of Crap elsewhere. MissyA readily agrees after seeing the reasoning behind it.
At the start of page 4 I celebrated by 400th post...previously to that mat had just celebrated his 100th post in one day...the first time anyone had done this. Interestingly enough...i celebrated my 400th post, but at the time when i printed this thread out...i had amassed 2183. Of course by the time the second to last board dissappeared i had more than ten times this much!
On page 5 Rioteer claims that this thread may well reach 10 pages...which must "be some kind of record on this board and the old one". Glenn then points out that there is a current thread going with 17 pages and counting which is "gonna be hard to beat".
At the end of page 5 Kirsty mentions that someone broke in and stole all her DVD's and DVD player. Glenn then creates the poorly named "Help Kirsty get a dvd help fund", and pledges $50. It may or may not be worth noting that Glenn did contribute at least $50 (maybe more), and also a few dvd's for birthday's and Christmas' along the way. He's just that kinda guy. It is unknown whether anyone else contributed...it's doubtful one would assume!
Page 8 was the birth of the foetus post count discussion. Alot of you older schoolers will remember it. It all started with Glenn celebrating his 500th post. mat then replies...
nat Feb 25 2003
500 posts..
very sweet!!
i like 500, its more than 499 and has two round circles...
mat.
Glenn replies...
The Dying Start, Feb 25 2003
Ahhh..but 499 has a 4 and two upside down foetuses
The conversation then goes on about how the foetuses are actually not upside down, and mat can't actually see the similarity.
Later in page 8 the ever amusing subject of "Board records" was raised for the first time. mat & Glenn compiled a list of records that the thread was breaking. The list was as thus:
Most crap in one post (thread)
Least number of satisfied readers
Least number of page views against posts for a 2-page + thread.
Biggest actual discussion thread
First thread devoted to the purpose of crap
First thread devoted to the rants of two people
First thread to be used to document the major posting milestones of aforementioned crap posters
First thread to start a fundraiser for stolen electronics
First thread to record more than one "woot" per page
First thread to include smiley bat animation thingos (The board had a smiley face that for some reason grew bat wings. It was quite bizarre)
First thread to be accessed and posted in by Glenn on 3 different computers
The last post on page 8 is actual statistical analysis by mat. He made everyone stop posting in the thread while he performed a myriad of calculations and posted up his findings...
mat, Feb 26 2003
hey guys:
got some facts on this thread and its three principal posters, kirsty, glenn and myself.
thanks for hanging on all of 5 minutes.
Info current as of 4pm.
this thread is one of 1003 threads, making .09% of the thread population.
given its 158 replies, it makes up 1.6% of the posting population of 9657
kirsty, with 183 posts at an average of 1.29, makes up 1.8% of all posts...with 23 posts on this thread makes up 15% of the posts n this thread.
glenn, with 527 posts at an ave of 7.29, makes up 5.45& of all posts on this forum. he has posted 46 times on this thread, making up 29%..
mat, with 564 posts at an average of 7.5, has the highest post ave. on the forums :P, at 5.8% of all posts, and with 54 posts on the thread has 34%....
other people have posted 35 times on the thread at 22%
all added, we have 13.2% of the posting population, which is 1273 posts. we have made 123 of the 158 posts on this thread, which is 77.8% of the total on the thread.
hope u enjoyed it, will be back soon with some more if i can find em.
mat.
Page 10 saw a touching speech by Glenn...followed by mat posting the same post but with his name at the bottom. 5 posts into the 10th page and we hit the 800th view. GosfordCityPunk brings us this news.
Page 12 sees the first known usage of "lub". Funnily enough it was simply a typing error...which is a none to frequent occurence from the keyboard of Glenn. Glenn corrects his error in his next post.
Page 14 begins with mat talking about how he only shares his love with transexuals...and later how rich people can sometimes be transexual too. Highly disturbing...so i'm leaving the recap here for today.
Lub, Glenn

Holy recap, Batman!
I didn't know half of that stuff... Huge post - the board's a bit spaced out compared to the old one (and the temp...), and it's a bit too silver.
Shadow - i think that exact post was on the temp board...
Glenn posted it right before the "croc hunter" incident... so yeah...
it is quite entertaining and a nice bit of history!

*M!
IT'S OVER!!!
Today's half wasn't too bad - Short Response is really really ghey, lots of maths and working out which sucked but Multiple Choice wasn't too bad.
I finished with an hour to spare in MC, so I slept but then I woke up because I thought I might have been drooling and I didn't think that'd look too good when the people mark it - "Oh look, this kid drooled!" Haha!
Got a lift home with a mate, we had TLE up loud - ever listened to them with really really loud bass? :p
oooh - yay for not drooling all over the page!
and yay for exams being over!
i can't imagine how the markers would react to drool stains on the answer sheet...

I do have the exam, just not til Monday :p
We have, for English, monologues to do, based on Romeo and Juliet. We're supposed to do them in 'sessions' on Friday, but I'm playing at a wedding at 4pm on Friday afternoon, and it would be a pain in the arse to go out to school for an hour for the exam ( costing me $10 total ) then come home, then go in the complete opposite direction for the wedding - it's at Palm Cove which is about half an hour from my place.
So she's letting me, and the other people playing at the wedding, do it on Monday instead :)
I finaly finished off my bloody writers' workshop stuff

the dots on the rest of the head represent a rather close shave...
also my picture doesn't have eyebrows - however most people that i remember to have had this 'do DID have eyebrows... i just didn't wanna draw them in :p

Argh! I so know the 'do that you mean! Eww! I hate it. It was a big thing with alot of the boys from primary school/early high school. It's just wrong!
Well, it's not wrong on all people, but its usually big smelly bogans that have this kinda 'do! :p
haha - it was big when i was in primary school
i don't actually know how the boys that had them got away with it Colezy 'cause i went to a catholic school and they're pretty strict about hair and nails and piercings etc...
i tried looking up said hair-do on the net but didn't know what to type in and hence only came up with this:
http://www.mulletlovers.com/images/punkfullet.jpg
but this doesn't really do the do justice...

James, you should totally cut your hair like that :p
haha - no one i knew had it died at the front and a mulley/giant rats tail at the back but yeah you get the idea - i'm so dissapointed that they're not cool anymore :p /sarcasm
hmmm... give it another 10 or 15 years and they'll be back - things generally go in 20/25 year lots...
that's why it's fashionable to look 80s again methinks...

If anybody could help me out with a simple survey for a project for Uni, it would be greatly appreciated. If you can help, please email/PM me and I'll send you the Word document to fill out. Should only take 3-5mins.
