Why don't we have a Children Collide thread yet??
I'm sure the White Noise tour recruited a few new CC fans from this forum so it isn't just me...
New album released last saturday called The Long Now..
So they're touring. (again)
Don't click the "click here for tickets"
I had to prnt scrn it because they don't have a proper poster(that I can find)..
Just got to their website and follow links from there if you want tickets.

So, I guess anyone who wanted to see these guys on the last tour, but got there early, would have been waiting for The Silents to end...
Haha :p

I find this pic amusing, Heath's all like, wtf, and Johnny's all like *BLURRR'D*
Also, the article in this week's beat is pretty funny.

I loved this weeks beat article...I did it for both beat and inpress...
I just quickly picked em up and shoved them in my bag...didn't even GLIMPSE the cover...Then 3 hours later I looked and Chris was on Inpress cover...Children Collide on the other!!
hehe
oopz
See, with the Albums CD cover....I still dunno which of the 3 "scratchy" covers is the rarest.
I haven't scratched mine. Probably won't either.
I saw CC support Evermore last year. They were hundred times better than Evermore. And they weren't stuck up like em either.
Also Ben Ely's new project is pretty good.

I thought Children Collide were actually pretty rubbish. Their songs had no melody, random structure, whaling vocals... just really wasn't enjoyable music to listen to... It just wan't the type of music that I'd say - I'm going to go and get their album. However, they were tight and their sound was perfected. But you could see the difference between them and The Living End as to why TLE has remained and become one of Australia's biggest bands and why CC will never break from JJJ. It just seemed like music that was intentionally trying to be a bit different but just sounded like noise... lyrical department wasn't too good either... "we are we are we are amphibians" is hardly something to get a crowd chanting and singing back at you in stark contrast to "we don't need no one to tell us what to do! etc etc" TLE, and a number of Australias bigger bands (mostly from the 90s) are leaps and bounds ahead of some of the new stuff coming though... Anyway, that's my rant on CC, i'm sure people disagree but I was uninspired..

They were good live, but I'm not a big fan of the album... and I scratched mine...

I quite enjoyed them on the WN tour. Hadn't really listened to them before that though. By the second gig, I was eager to see them play again! :)

See, I don't think I'ld ever compare CC to TLE...Simply because they don't play the same sort of genre of music to TLE.
I got the gold voyager disc!!
Which is teh rarest.
And a Children Collide shirt.
I'm one happy camper.

Nice to hear what Heath has to say tho
There was a review of it in some magazine/paper I read the other day, and they have a bit where to file it under.
they said "File It Under: The Living End" I thought that was a bit weird.

HI ADELE!
Deadcat Kaye
10-27-2008, 09:25 PM
haha CC >>>>> The Currency.
Though the currency are talented lads (and women) but CC...Only band that beats CC right now is TLE :p
Kacky
10-27-2008, 10:12 PM
I would choose TLE over any other band...ALWAYS.
I remember a few years back I was gonna pick TLE over Green Day, but when they realised the scheduling conflict, they picked Green Day over doing a secret show
Kacky
10-27-2008, 10:21 PM
Bummer. I was so Green Day'd out by the end of 2005, after seeing them three times. :p
Deadcat Kaye
10-27-2008, 10:23 PM
Green Day are definantly on the "List-of-Bands-To-See" :D
Kacky
10-27-2008, 10:23 PM
Definitely. :D
Meh.
I've seen em 3 times (or is it 4?) now, and should have stopped at the first. At that stage it was pretty spectacular. Now, fairly predictable...
Kacky
10-27-2008, 10:27 PM
I would see them again, just not as much as last time.
Deadcat Kaye
10-27-2008, 10:28 PM
You can't really expect a band to change their performace every single gig.
May be predictable...But most of the time it's what people go to see.
You can't really expect a band to change their performace every single gig.
May be predictable...But most of the time it's what people go to see.
If it's a small/newish band that has a limited repatoir (sp?), then no, I dont expect them to change it.
However, unless they are lacking in talent, I actually do expect a bigger band to change their sets around on tour. Not only does it give the fans variety, but it gives the band a break from same ol', same ol'...
damo0945
10-28-2008, 12:32 AM
Repertoir* I think... maybe an e on the end too
When did you see them? Was it a few times on the same tour or something? For a big band like that I'd almost expect them to play mostly the same songs every night... Keeps (most of) the fans happy with all the favourites...
However at the other end of the scale NOFX are in a reasonably similar situation (yet not as big obviously) and they say they try and avoid playing the same songs in the same place over and over...
Adele
10-28-2008, 12:39 PM
But Beth had to decide between TLE/CC or The Currency last time! :p
HI ADELE!
HI NICOLE! :D
I might have to choose between CC & Trackside. Or we might end up going to both... CC is on a Friday in Sydney and Trackside is on the Saturday. Hmm.

Colezy
10-28-2008, 10:02 PM
I had to go and get my brother from work, that's what! :p
I got mine just after I turned 18, so ner. I just didn't have a car to drive for AGES cos I crashed my first one into our front gate/fence :p
damo0945
10-28-2008, 10:24 PM
haha that'd suck, it took me nearly 7 months to get my Ps after I turned 18...
Colezy
10-28-2008, 10:33 PM
Hold on...do you guys have to be 18 to get them??
damo0945
10-29-2008, 12:14 AM
Yeah, I think South Australia might be younger?
Colezy
10-29-2008, 09:04 AM
In tassie you can go for them once you turn 17, as long as you've done your 50 hours and have been driving for at least 6 months.
But hardly anyone gets to do that. Not unless you get all of yours hours done SUPER quick and can book the test for sometime near your 17th. I think the waiting list like 3 or 4 months in Hobart and for others areas its a little worse. I wish my brother would hurry up and get his P's!
It's 120 hours here, and go for the first P's once you've got your 120 up, and have turned 18. Then 12 or 18months on those P's til the next level and that again until full licence. Sucks to be a learner these days.
strahanie
10-29-2008, 11:28 AM
is that what the green Ps are, a second level?
Yeppers. Not just the things you have with dinner.
Colezy
10-29-2008, 11:55 AM
haha, well there's one kind of P's here. Pretty much.
1st year - display the P's. No alcohol, 80km/hr.
2nd/3rd year - take down the P's, can drive at normal limits. No alcohol.

WOO!!! Farewell Rocketship is their 2nd single of their album The Long Now.
They've just released a preview of it the video clip...
Farewell Rocketship Video PREVIEW!
So there is a PREVIEW for the Farewell Rocketship video up on youtube now.
Full clip will be out early January, this is just to get you excited about it:
http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=m9GzQIxJbpk
And here is something Heath has to say about it:
"We wanted to make this clip timeless and epic. We got together with the House on Fire film crew, and citing such influences as 1920's silent romantic pantomime film and dark 1950's sci-fi, we got busy. I guess we really wanted to do something a bit risky, something unusual, and so created the clip in the form of a two part film. The first part is backed by sound art, and the second one with the actual songs. We like the results.
"

Skeleton Dance
Walking on the Moon (this also really suited Johnnys voice)
Sex Beat

Social Currency

Farewell Rocketship tour announced...
Farewell Rocketship Tour April 2009, presented by Channel V
‘Children Collide are absolutely the sound of the here and now’ – Drum Media.
Fresh off their maiden Big Day Out tour, Children Collide show no signs of slowing down. Recently, Children Collide has been carving their name as one of the most exhilarating live acts in the country. Having impressed audiences and critics alike throughout 2008, Children Collide is geared to bring their explosive headline show around Australia once more - on the FAREWELL ROCKETSHIP TOUR.
“Farewell Rocketship” is an idealistic, escapist daydream where the world has become too much and fleeing is the only option. Instead of a desert island or a strange new country, the destination is another planet. A flight of fantasy to begin a new colony of humans on a nearby planet. A fresh start in a simpler world. A colonial ballad for a post-apocalyptic, space-age romance. A goodbye to war and politics.
You are invited to join Children Collide on their sonic journey to a new world. Farewell Rocketship’s epic themes are illustrated in the incredible video that accompanies it. The 7 minute narrative clip takes the audience to an apocalyptic world and follows the band as they attempt escape in search of a less emaciated planet.
2008 saw Children Collide grace the stage in some of the most important live performances of their career. They spent the year sharing stages with the likes of The Living End, The Hoodoo Gurus, The Wombats and Grinspoon, in addition to two headline tours.
The release of debut album The Long Now to rave reviews in October included 4/5 reviews in Rolling Stone and Jmag. It has also held its own up against international releases; placing #7 in The Age and #17 in the Rolling Stone top albums of 2008. All of this served to stroke interest in Children Collide’s live juggernaut.
Singles “Social Currency” and “Farewell Rocketship” have performed well at radio. Both tracks have been the #1 most played tracks on Triple J and “Farewell Rocketship” has been the Most Requested Song. All of this has spurred the band on to their frantic festival schedule over summer, where stellar performances at Homebake and Pyramid Rock Festival garnered them more than a few extra admirers.
Joining them on this ride is a band that has been known to induce a degree of admiration themselves. REGULAR JOHN has been busy boys. Hailing from Sydney, the lads have been locked up recording their debut album and are poised to blow off their pent up steam. Their live show is searing. Here’s is what Drum Media thinks: ‘There’s an evil devil bird on the front and the amps sound like they’re seconds from self-combustion. Like your rock red-eyed and sunburnt? The ‘John will definitely tear another welcome hole in your favorite jeans’. Enough said.
So, for their first headline dates this year Children Collide are preparing to blow audiences out of the water (or their shoes, or pants, or whatever) with their frantic, unpredictable performances. Dates for the FAREWELL ROCKETSHIP TOUR below.
Farewell Rocketship single is released on 14th February with 2 brand new exclusive tracks and an as yet unreleased remix on ITunes

So, I guess after spending all day in a hospital watching your dad in pain wihtout knowing why he couldn't move his left hand side or see properly can fuck with your head a bit, when mum got there at about 5.30 she insisted I go and get something to eat.
So I walked out of the maze of the emergency ward and through the door into the waiting room and who would be sitting there but Heath. We made eye contact, and I was so out of it I gave him a full on head-tilt-WTF expression. Then he looked away with mega awkwardness and I thought AH IT IS YOU! When I got outside I burst out laughing and called Amy. For lolz. And spent the rest of the day laughing and crying and crying with laughter and crying.

Ryan walked past. WTF. I was with Bec and started laughing. Then I turned around and did the RYAN! chant a few times.
I'm expecting to see Johnny somewhere in the next week. WTF. FTW.

Got some craptacular photos, which I shall post :p I had forgotten how dark it can get in there!
Spoke to Ryan and then later on Heath, which was good. Both confirmed that they're coming back down here in May (they think it's May) and that they'll be playing with The Grates! Score!!
While I was talking to Ryan, he borrowed my phone so that he had some light while trying to find a small part of his cymbal that he dropped while packing it away! haha
I went alone to the gig, but quickly made a friend, Tegan. She was a Nigel No Friends, like I was haha
Annnd after the CC had finished, I got chatting with the Merch girl, who took my details so that she could get in contact with me so that I can be a merch girl if ever she can't!

Woohoo, new tour! I already knew this was happening though!
This is taken from an email I got from The Grates. I'll include the start of the email so that it makes sense and all:
h00dy d00dy,
START: *This is Patience typing* When I was young one of my friends (boyfriends) made a truly intelligent crack about my birthday which is May 4th. He said MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU. Pretty good, right? I have shared this knowledge with you for several reasons.
1) 4 is a really friendly number.
2) May is the best month of the year.
3) May is the month which we, The Grates, will be doing our final tour for this album! I know!!! What a coincidence, two awesome things at once, like pooping and eating at the same time! But there will be nothing shitty about our tour, as we'll be taking one of the finest, young bands Australia has out on the road with us. Tighten your butt holes... I'm about to make you shit...

All three versions of The Long Now's scratchie cover. (A little dodgy because I screen-capped the clock and the voyager images from a promo ad and they aren't high-res.)

I recorded the NFL and
There's a video for NFL right before the game started
(Eels vs Dragons)
and
the intro to it...is children Collide playing social currency...like
whole new video of them playing SC, with cheerleaders and stuff
it's very cool
