View Full Version : Your Music Collection
This is always an interesting one, because people have lots of different CD's in their collection, rare stuff and more.
Anyways, this thread is to show off your wares with photos and estimations or something like that.
I'll go first:
I got most of these out of my car before. Mostly new additions.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y49/tlephotos/Music_Collection/DSC00939.jpg
1 of 2 stands I have for my entertainment unit. Filled with CDs. This one has mostly Primus/Les Claypool CDs.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y49/tlephotos/Music_Collection/DSC00940.jpg
1 of 4 boxes that holds 100 CDs (more if theres singles in the case)
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y49/tlephotos/Music_Collection/DSC00941.jpg
A little satchel thing that has about 35 or so CD's in it contains several WOYR coke singles
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y49/tlephotos/Music_Collection/DSC00942.jpg
1 of 3 shoe boxes that holds a bunch of CD's. Mostly special editions/ones with cardboard slips
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y49/tlephotos/Music_Collection/DSC00943.jpg
a surf/skate store bag filled with CD's. Unsure how many are in there.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y49/tlephotos/Music_Collection/DSC00944.jpg
Beatles Box set. All 16 releases (the new one isn't with that collection, its on the desk somewhere)
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y49/tlephotos/Picture024.jpg
Most of the artists were grouped together (except for new releases) but they all jumbled up when looking for a particular cd.
so far it's just Kev's post and i already think it should be renamed to the:
"make Maria jealous" thread
<_<
i want more CDs dammit!
*M!
I just tidied up my room a bit, and found even more cds laying on the floor.
So I've boxed them all up and shoved them in the wardrobe.
Last count I was approaching 150-200 albums.
My favourite is the Beatles collection. Either that, or the New Kids on the Block tour souvenir CD....

I would happily enter into this if I wasn't worried about getting absolutely hammered by everyone else on the boards...
I don't own many CDs. The first CD I bought was The Living End though and it's still on top of my pile. My CDs are in stacks in the corner of my room.
I would happily enter into this if I wasn't worried about getting absolutely hammered by everyone else on the boards...
pfft if people have to measure their superiority by their CD collection they have problems.
Oh and I have a tonne of vinyl that I never photographed because they were up in the wardrobe and I couldn't be farked getting them down.

I owe my life to New Kids on the Block cause they taught me 'bout hangin' tough!
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. oh, oh, oh, oh, oh hahahaha
The awesomest cd in my collection would be Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince - Boom Shake The Room single.
That and their album Code Red. I think I also have their greatest hits somewhere too.
Other people post their collections, regardless of size. And include some cool/rare stuff (if you have any)

I don't have any pics of my entire collection, or a way to get pics for that matter. I do have this (http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/5953/cdsge1.jpg) which is a crappy-camera-phone quality pic of my most played CDs for that week. I got annoyed with having to cart them to my dad's house and back every fortnight so took a pic of them and made a 'why I need an iPod, exhibit A' post. But even I can only make out what about half of them are and I know what I have.
I got dared to count my CDs once. I got bored of that at around the 200-mark. I don't have anywhere near as many Cds as I'd like and there's a lot I intend to get, just gotta have the moolah. I don't have anything rare. Unless you count the demo CD I won from a graphics contest in October, but that was only from MiG Ayesa so nothing incredibly special.
The only one I could pick out of that collection was the Green Day one.

I used to have Code Red but it disappeared. I definately have their Greatest Hits though!!
Another that i absolutely love is Cypress Hill Live @ The Fillmore. Amazing stuff, but my brother scratched the funk-diddly out of it and it won't play, and i can't track it down again.
According to my List, which my not be entirely updated, i only have 118 CD's. That doesn't include a stack of burnt ones, and mp3 albums that i very naughtily downloaded.
For those with Excel, you can download the whole list here:

Nice collection there Glenn, woo, I used to love Bush Mechanics!
Here's a photo of anything remotely rare/interesting I have on vinyl, or anything signed:
http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/4458/image2gq6.th.jpg (http://img136.imageshack.us/my.php?image=image2gq6.jpg)
In terms of CDs I've got nothing rare, the odd single here and there that aren't so easy to come buy, but thats about it. No idea how many CDs I have either, I guess its somewhere over 100-ish, and quite a lot more if we are counting bootleg.

Bush Mechanics ruled. Unfortunately only the "dodgy" series made it to DVD. With the wanky staged bits and "storyline". The original one never came out unfortunately.

I remember this thread from the old board Kev - I've still got pics in my photobucket, but i've sold a bunch and bought a bunch since then, so i'll update my pics in a day or two.

Nice pics Kev but can't see much details on it.
Our collection consits
-nearly 100 audio cassetes with punk\psycho\and rare Chernivtcy underground records (we don't have a tape-player now so listen it not very often)
-nearly 50 CDs with rockabilly, psycho and swing
- and more than 20 Gb of music in MP3 which we keep on our comp (don't have a list and it takes much time to create it)
Our collection is really extraordinary for you all. Because of 2 things
1- it consists copies of really rare european rockabilly\psycho\neo-swing records which our friends from Mad Heads band brought from their foreign trips
2- 90% our records are copies or not russian-licensed CDs, because till the 2000-years was nearly impossible to buy a foreign music on CDs
Kev - which records of Johnny Cash you have? Or your old signature is just a joke?

Damn that is a heel of alot of CDs. I only have about 25 albums which include all albums by greenday that they made after signing with reprisel (8) 3 of the 4 TLE albums (have to order in modern artillery) and all bar 2 offspring albums there is also the odd random ones like Lee harding and matchbox 20.
I have afew of the singles that have b-sides (wake up, american idiot and stuff)

My cd collection is a mess. There's my actual cd's which are all over the place. Then there's the music on my computer which is also a mess since my speakers on here cut out and I stopped listening to music on it. And my mp3 player is organized, but only has 6 gig and 1500 songs on it.

We should buy a unit, and create "The Living End CD Library" and we could all store our CD's in the one spot and everyone from miles around could come and listen to whatever they want.
Or maybe not....
That would encourage theives.
My DVD collection runs into the 200+ range :s

More Like A BMW. With all this junk in it. Like DVD Player With Foxtel.
Then Again, I see alot of them are burnt cds which are like 20 cents a disc. I have millions of black discs I wanna get rid of. Maybe I should throw them out...*grabs a forklift*
Those CD spindles there are from CD's I've burnt for the car, for friends etc.
At least 98% of mine are the real deal. Only the 'Leaked' stuff goes to blank CDs, then the originals are purchased upon release.

As for cds, i have 2 of those big green envirobags with cds falling out of the top, investing in a bigger bookshelf soon to fit everything

You're wrong!
(well, if I delete all my MP3s, and just leave CDs, then I'd have about 4000 songs right there)
my cd collection blows. I lost most of my cd's in a car crash 4 years ago. i had 2 massive cd wallets with every sleve doubled up, and some tripled where I could fit them. never recovered any of them, except the one that i was listening to.
but i have started my collection again though, the ones that I haven't gotten agian are mostly the metallica, the offspring and blink 182 ones and every single i have ever gotten in my life up to that point because its pretty hard to find them these days. poop.
my mp3 collection also suffered a loss when i got a virus. 5 years worth of cd rippage and downloads gone, except for the 1gb that i had on my mp3 player haha. fail
My latest addition to my collection:
http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/1430/15102008261eh2.jpg
and there's more Footastic Vinyl to come!
Whilst we're talking how many MP3's we have:
http://www.skerik2006.com/wamp.html
thats my list. But not all my CDs are there and 90% of the files are legit (ie. Not pirated)
12061 tracks in playlist, average track length: 4:16
Estimated playlist length: 859 hours 7 minutes 2 seconds
(13 tracks of unknown length)
You have a lot of doubles there
