Well? What do we all think? Personally I think the decision was the right one but ... that's only because Kim Beazley scares me :p

Beazley was never going to win the next election. It's a good move imo

I think it's a good thing for the party because it gives them a fresh face to lead an army against Howard. Lets face it, the Liberal party are overly arrogant and cocky. They think they're invincible which is why they're making a number of bold moves and trying to stand their ground on issues majority of Australians disagree with. Lets wait and see how it pans out next year :) I for one believe a number of Australians are majorly concerned with Environmental issues and will be voting for smaller parties accordingly.

Agreed. I don't think Kevin Rudd is gonna go off his rocker like Latham either.

I think it's an excellent choice, as Beazly was holding the Labor party back with the voting public.
I've got a feeling they'll win the next election now, with Rudd in charge.

Im glad Rudd is in, I know I will be a hell of a lot more likely to for Labor now with him in charge. Basically a vote for Howard at the next election is a vote for Costello and I HATE that fucker.

i dont get why everybody hates john howard & he has caused all these problems & scandals yet has still been elected for over 10 yrs!! im only 17 & havent voted yet but i think i'll be old enough for the next election. ill vote labor (my parents do & although thats not the reason im voting for them i still think its influenced me) & am glad rudd is leader. my biggest issue with howard is the IR laws.

Mick, what's with the writing? Are you even out of Kindy yet? I didn't think so. Pick on someone your own size. :p
And i think Kim is a top bloke, but he's a total weirdo and i'm glad he's gone and Ruddy is in. Rudd will do good. I dare say I'll vote for him.

I prefered Kimbo, but I think it was a little bit of foolish romanticism, '99 is the first election I can really remember thinking/talking about much, and I wanted to see Beazley finally have his day.
It'll take me a while to make my mind up about Rudd, he seems a little soft to me for some reason, but hopefully I'll soon get over that. I'm just glad they got their leadership issues outta the road, instead of waiting until an election was even closer.

Everyone dislikes Howard because he piggy backs on America and thinks about short-term profit for his own government (Ie, Nuclear Power). If Liberal lose the next election they've pretty much already put the wheels in motion for a recession so I feel no matter which party gets in we're gonna see Australia hit a recession within the next few years.
I can't see people voting Howard purely for the IR laws. All the people who voted Liberal for the last few elections are the same people who he's targeting with these laws. And for what? To please corporate Australia. He's too focused on money. Sure the economy has been booming, but at what price? The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
Kevin Rudd sounds like a very good speaker from what I've seen. He has a pleasing voice tone which I think is quite important in politics. Apparently he is good at making the tough decisions despite his kind natured approach. I think it was a good decision for the labor party.

phil rudd vs. beazley.
phil rudd wins hands down
Rudd is lame and has hardly any personality, but he seems like a nice guy. Beazley was funny and a bit of a smarty pants.
neither should have been as the head of the ALP. Conway should have been setup as the next leader of the ALP.

i dont know anything about rudd but beazely would have never won against howard, he's already lost aginst him twice and he would have just lost again. and beazely wouldnt be a good prime minister, i cant see him running the whole of australia and having to deal with other countries, he couldnt do it.

although she sounds like she is from kath and kim!!! :D
when i saw her on ACA last night i thought the same thing - as did my mum...
she looks like she's from a sketch show...
makes me wonder... is she smart enough to be parodying a paraody show?
'cause that would be super!
i'm glad someone else picked up on this and posted - i nearly forgot!

I saw her last night as well haha
The only problem with Beazley is that no-one could take him seriously. But then again, no-one took Howard seriously until he got elected in lol

You know, If you disregard politics and concentrate purely to do with personality, I wish that K-Beaz had become PM instead of K-rudd. just on a personal level, Kim Beazley always seemed like a nice dude whilst K-rudd is kind of just a jerky-geekdork. Although K-rudd is of course rating very highly in opinion polls at the moment, who would want to be his friend, really? I want to be kim beazleys friend because he's a nice guy.
(yes, this is very superficial and yes I am going through old threads! there are some really crappy old threads let me tell you people)

I actually have quite a bit of stuff to do, but I've wasted a whole lot of the day already so I might as well waste the rest of it and work a whole lot tomorrow!
plus I just think kim beazley was a sweet dude.
