oh i hope so. it's pretty much my favorite song off the new album, tied with LLTW

yeah, but i wouldn't get your hopes up. 4 singles from the album is pretty good. TLE had 3, RO had 3 and MA had 2. So to have 4 singles for SOE is pretty good. I would love a 5th single, but rae has said for NLF they haven't got any decent b-sides to put on the single, so if they do it will be live tracks. The DVD is out in 3 weeks so that should more than make you happy.

Hey Benny, actually there's a few things you've said in your post that aren't right, and I hope ya don't mind if I clear them up. :)

MA actually had 3 singles (OSTTO, WGSU, and Tabloid Magazine). (End Of The World was put on as a "radio airplay" single, but not released in stores, and Triple J played What Would You Do? as a Radio B-Side from OSTTO.)

4 Singles from State Of Emergency is very good, they've broken out from the "3 singles every album" approach.

Rae said for NLF they didn't have an decent B-Sides, this is true - but it may have been beacuse the boys were on tour in the US, and they weren't able to jump into the studio to clean up some songs like Living Underground - so as a result live tracks were used as the bonus on the single.

They might (given that they'd be in AUS... maybe) use proper B-Sides for a potential 5th single *coughWWMcough*, but it seems appropriate to use live tracks if they are to release the single in support of the DVD - Although I personally can't see how they'd manage to roll out another single so quickly after NLF, but then again I don't know the biz that well yet.

Rae sorta hinted towards potentially releasing the 5th single as a "Live" single, so WWM [Live @ Festival Hall] would be the single, probably wouldn't have the studio version on it, or maybe the radio would use either version (studio or live) for airplay, given that they're both ripper tracks.

Well that's a rant and a half. Time for a triple-stack Nutella Pancake :D.

And didn't Self Titled have POS, West End Riot, Save the Day, All Torn Down and Trapped in the US? Thus making it 4 Australian singles.

Actually, TLE has five singles, Prisoner, Second Solution, West End, Save The Day and All Torn Down. Or does SS not count because it's on the same CD? Anyway, everything else is correct. :P

Also, on the old forum, I remember in the FAQ it said "Q: Will We Want More be a single? A: That's a no-brainer."

Julia

POS/SS were on the same single though, so nerrr. :p

Habibster
09-09-2006, 03:23 PM
Yeah hopefully it is a single but it needs to have good b-sides...or possibly making it a double A-side with 'Til the End like someone suggested on the temp forum

Basically after 4 singles, anything's a bonus. We're pretty damn lucky to be getting this Live DVD, so IMO i doubt a 5th single, but heck anything's possible. 2006 has to be the most expensive year for TLE.

im not bothered if they do or don't have another single. 4 + a dvd is fine with me.

I'm certain they've saved it to promote the live dvd

I don't really care about singles, they're just another thing I feel compelled to spend money on. I haven't bought Nothing Lasts Forever, and I doubt I'm going to. I like collecting the older singles, but I guess I'm just not as into the newer songs.

I consider POS/SS EP to be an EP in it's own right, so technically I file it as an EP along with Hellbound and IFYOG, not as a single for TLE.

Someone said Trapped (US), but that isn't an AUS single so I didn't bring it up. But, yes - Trapped was released in the US (didn't do too well... as far as I remember...) and also POS was released in the UK as a single.

In regards to Single the 5th, if they go ahead with WWM, then great choice and I really hope (and know) that it'll get great airplay. But maybe a AA side single isn't such a bad idea, I always considered We Want More and 'Til The End to be songs that sorta intertwined in stories, almost like brothers. So that could be a cool idea, but could cause complications in terms of packaging it all (they may already have something planned to support the DVD, and it could be too late to change it all).

I think a We Want More/Til The End single would do pretty well. I mean it's the 'rockier' singles like What's On Your Radio and Wake Up that have done the best on the charts. POS/SS did very well. It could happen again.

The possiblities of a Til The End/We Want More single is pretty low...it'd do fucken awesome though

i serioulsy never though so much would come from my post. All i did was consider the "true" singles from each album, not from the EP's before an album was out. And i wasn't talking about radio singles either. WWW would probably a radio single.

A bit of topic but hey it is my thread, so does anyone know what "on Tour Forever" is. I saw it on Amazon as an EP.
so is there any such CD or am I in the early stages of cenility.

Sad to say, but I think you're far from alone with that sentiment.
I've been a bit surprised by the number of die-hards who just haven't been interested in purchasing NLF. It's a pity, cos NLF is my fav song from SOE.

And given that it's not performing terribly well in the charts, ya gotta wonder whether they'd see it as viable to release another off SOE...?

I'm trying sooo hard to get NLF moving :p.

At the local JB I put NLF in front of every other CD on the singles stand, hoping to entice people (and the impulse buyers...), but I think after I left someone fixed it up, or they were all sold .

I also bought 10 copies and gave them out to randoms at Knox. $30, but who cares.

it's not that bad, although while I was on work experience in Ozone, some guy was assaulting a chick in the carpark. One of my workmates had to call the police coz the security weren't doing much to stop it.

When i went to get NLF a few weeks ago at alligator records or some random music shop ( i cant remeber what it was called) there were about 10 copies of it on the stand. When i brought it a dude working there said to me 'It's about time someone brought one of these....it's a pity coz its not a bad song'

Shadow
09-10-2006, 10:36 PM
Yeah I got outta Knox in tip-top shape... Fit as a fiddle, or what have you.

There were a few people who wouldn't accept a free copy of NLF - which is probably a good thing, given that if they had taken it they'd probably have thrown it out. But yeah... what do I do with my gold stars? Cash 'em in for loot?

Yeah, looks like "We Want More" might be 5th single due to earlier thread on a previous incarnation of the forums.

However, i'd like to see "one Step Behind" released as a single, even if it's just a radio single.

You all will scoff at me but i never buy singles. I usually save the little allowance i get to buy albums rather than buy singles of which i already have the song. The only TLE single i have is "Whats on your radio?" cos it was $2 at Coke Live. Anyway - thats my two cents.

cheapest i've ever seen their singles is about $4 Glenn - but yeah that's not too expensive...

plus it's better to buy them now when they're in print than having to hunt them down from online (eBay etc) or in 2nd Hand shops where you can pay a mint...

ahhh - Bsides - they're yummy!

as far as everything else is concerned (electricity, good taste etc) my town and surrounds lays forgotten but when it comes to paying lots of money... we don't miss out on getting to do that...

Didn't See NLF anywhere. Plus I only heard it on Radio Once. Terrible Choice for a single. We Want More would be great for a single. Its So Damn Catchy. When I first got the album and played it once. I had that song in my head for so long.

Aaron
09-14-2006, 12:21 PM
I agree that it was an unconventional choice, but personally I think it's nice to see something breaking the mould.

As for a fifth single, I'd be happy with pretty much anything. If the purpose of a single is to get radio airplay and expose itself (shut up Glenn) to as many listeners as possible, then I reckon... hmm, I was gonna list one or two songs, but then the list in my head grew to include the whole album. Heh.

Regardless, I'd buy it if there were B-sides or something like that. Just like most pre-established fans. Why do other people ('the general public') buy them?

(Also, Evil Chris, what's with the strange capitalisation?)

Julian
09-14-2006, 07:00 PM
So what? It's also a pretty ordanairy song

Look if they're going to release a 5th single it should be We Want More. But lets face it, there has already been a couple of similar songs that have been released and the fans of those songs would have already bought the album. So it's not a dumb idea to go for something different to what they've released. One Step Behind would be the best idea for a 'different' single. We Want More should have been the 3rd single. It would have been bigger than Wake Up imo.

Rosie28
09-14-2006, 07:52 PM
I don't think SOE is a ordinary song! It's good!
I really don't know what would be the 5th single but most of them would do alright I think

Habibster
09-15-2006, 05:03 PM
I really don't think any songs by The Living End are ordinary..maybe that's just me though.

We Want More would be the most likely choice if there is a 5th single but I wouldn't mind 'Til The End or Black Cat getting the job.

Habibster
09-15-2006, 09:52 PM
And what about Reborn??That would do fairly well i reckon...it got a bit of airplay on JJJ like We Want More did at the start of the year.

But, if there was it would have to be 'Til th end.

The Dying Start
09-16-2006, 12:37 PM
'Til The End and We Want More are the strongest songs. WWM should be a single if they decide to do one more.

Someone mentioned going in a different direction for a 5th single...i think Black Cat would do the trick...although it seems to be a love it or hate it type song...not sure why.

A 5th single doesn't look too promising at the moment with the DVD coming out (or already out in some places)...
