Just when you thought that there couldn't possibly be one more festival this summer we get the announcement for Soundwave. So grab your crash helmet and strap yourself in for a great rock ride as acts such as the Deftones bring it loud and hard to a park land near you.

Event and ticketing information available on December 7 at www.soundwavefestival.com

SATURDAY 24 FEBRUARY BRISBANE – RIVERSTAGE
SUNDAY 25 FEBRUARY SYDNEY – SYDNEY PARK, NEWTOWN
SATURDAY 3 MARCH PERTH – ROBINSON PAVILION & SURROUNDS

The multiple stage event will feature exclusive performances by:
Deftones
+44
Thrice
Unwritten Law
Hatebreed
Parkway Drive*
18 Visions
Juliette & The Licks
Something With Numbers
Flyleaf
The Format
Houston Calls
Hit The Lights

With many more bands to be announced (we're withholding a few bands for no other reason than to have a 2nd announcement - it's rather fashionable. Apparently).

And then, there is the carnival rides, market stalls, good food, affordable drinks. Did we mention we have lots of port-a-bogs?

* Parkway Drive not appearing in Perth

Yeah but there a week between Syd and Perth, so maybe certain bands will be doing more eastcoast shows then like Melb?

i really hope they have a melb onePretty sure there will be. Some sideshows announced already:

Deftones - February, 28 2007 at Festival Hall
Deftones - March, 1 2007 at Thebarton Theatre

My brother saw a ad in Beat last night for this. They're playing with some others bands from the festival. Thrice and 18 Visions were two of them (I think).

And more:

Unwritten Law - Mar 1 2007 @ Festival Hall, Melbourne
Unwritten Law - Mar 2 2007 @ Thebarton, Adelaide

Maybe with a band called As Fast As? Anybody heard of them? So fucking stoked! If anybody hears about presales, etc let me know.

I saw Unwritten Law at soundwave in 2004 (that all rhymes) and it was huge disapointment. They were obviously very drunk, and when security guards were stopping people from climbing on stage and crowd diving they started yelling at the guards saying they like when people stage dive...

They were obviously very drunk, and when security guards were stopping people from climbing on stage and crowd diving they started yelling at the guards saying they like when people stage dive...I didn't realise there had been Soundwaves festivals before. I saw Unwritten Law last year and loved them. But I could understand them being drunk and crap. The singer looks like he's had many years of drink and drugs.

There was soundwave in Perth 2004, over 2 days, part of the gravity games, (extreme sports thing) the first day the headliner was Good Charlotte, second day it was Mxpx and Unwritten Law.

But it was called Soundwave, not soundwaves, and there was only one stage and no attractions or anything.

(just humour me, i never got to see blink...)I would say so. I'm the same. Never saw Blink. I'm also waiting for news on the Melbourne show. And waiting for Unwritten Law tickets to go on sale.

EDIT: This week's Beat had an ad for +44 sideshow. I think it was February 27 at Festival Hall. With Unwritten Law supporting.

The Bronx have announced some side shows too.

TUESDAY, FEB 27 - CANBERRA, GREEN ROOM
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 28 - SYDNEY, ANNANDALE HOTEL
THURSDAY, MARCH 1 - ADELAIDE, FOWLERS LIVE
FRIDAY, MARCH 2 - MELBOURNE, THE HI-FI

The 2nd announcement has Suicidal Tendencies, MxPx, The Bronx, Terror, Behind Crimson Eyes, Forgive Durden, Trial Kennedy and Drive By.

All up i'd see UL, +44, The Bronx, Suicidal Tendencies, Juliette & The Licks. I like old hardcore bands, but Hatebreed and Terror are probably the better of the new hardcore bands so I wouldn't mind seeing them too.

Also there is a date change. 1st of March is the new date. Don't know why it was changed.

EDIT: Oh, I thought originally UL had their own show. But the March 1 date is the +44 show with UL supporting yeah? So no separate show for UL headlining?

If not, I'll get tix for the +44 show. Anybody know what price of tickets will be?

Hmmm Soundwave got lots and lots of negative feedback.

To most punters it seemed like a very disorganised festival.I heard that too, but awesome music wise. Apparently not enough toilets and food stalls.

On Wednesday night I saw Deftones, Thrice, Eighteen Visions and Flyleaft (who I liked a lot).

Thursday, I saw +44 (were very good), Unwritten Law (always good), Juliett and the Licks (quite impressed) and As Tall As Lions (okay, but nothing to get excited about). Quote from Mark that night: "It's motherf***ing hot in here. I would know. I f*** mothers."

I didn't go to soundwave but I went to a sideshow that had 5 of the bands from it.. One of them was 'Forgive Durden'.. pretty awesome.. they have a banjo at times and at the end of one of the songs they had a big drum breakdown where each member in the band had a set of sticks, hitting the drums.. it was brilliant.
