Yeah, ive been trying to play the room. And, how do you do:
--555555/66666
--666666\55555
How do you slide across in inverse directions?
woops. should have been in musicians corner

All I can give you is a quote from Chris
...Double stop bends. Have you ever tried bending one string up and catching the other one on the way down? The start of the last song on Modern ARTillery called 'The Room' was done like that. It's a wacky effect. One string goes up and the other goes down and then you pull it and wherever you see the string bent, you expect to hear the note go that way but it desn't - It's like an optical illusion or something.

That made no sense at all.

It's what Chris said :p
I think what he means is that he has one (or 2) fingers holding the strings down, one is bent up half a step. When he wants to change the pitch, he moves his fingers so the bent up string goes back straight and the other is bent up
eh? (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=%22double+stop%22+bend&btnG=Search&meta=)

i kinda get it. I'l have to try that to give credibillity to his statement
EDIT: Yeesh, kinda tricky. The way I tried doesnt sound like it at all. I need a video demonstration for it to look right.

It's from Australian Guitar magazine, from a while ago when the FHOI comp was released. Nice big bit on Chris. I also have one from SOE release, but I don't have the ones from S/T and Roll On.. there's atleast 4 Chris-on-the-cover issues of AG.

Well I think I may have done it. It sounded great but the strings wont stay with my fingers. They slip under.

All I can give you is a quote from Chris
Here's what I've come up with in about 30seconds...
Start with your index and mid fingers on;
-----
--5--
--5--
-----
-----
-----
http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/2802/guitarhelpen1.jpg
Ok, the first part is to do a 1fret bend(I don't know if that's a half) on the G string so it sounds like;
-----
--5--
--6-- (Sorry, I don't know how do make the tabblature for a bend)
-----
-----
-----
http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/5576/guitarhelp2vd3.jpg
Next do the same but on the B string to get the sound of;
-----
--6--
--5--
-----
-----
-----
http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/6602/guitarhelp3wp5.jpg
Fingers stay at the 55, you just do bends back and forth, practice
Johnny_Wah
12-22-2006, 12:16 PM
yep, I should be able to do that by 3000 A.D.
damn cheney
Armistice
12-22-2006, 02:44 PM
Haha, yah I couldn't do it either, but I think that's the wrong way anyways when I was thinking about it later, lol. I'll throw some pics up if I can tonight, but I don't think I'll be able to get it until tomorrow
Here's what I do. Set index finger on this(like "barred";
-----
--5--
--5--
-----
-----
-----
While keeping your index on the 55, alternate your mid finger on 6;
-----
--||-- 6 6
--5-- 6 6
-----
-----
-----
||= "barre"
Just be quick
(edit) Crud, the 6's don't show right. I'll have a pic of that to if you so wish. You only move one finger, that's how I play it. I cheat when/e possible ;)

armistice your almost right just you used the wrong fingers. i use my pink and fourth finger. its a good exercise for you pinky. and then you can go straight into the C bar chord easier.

nice work armistice I'm...."getting there", but thanks for the little demo afterwards as well.
thats a good looking hand you got there :cool:

Why thanks... I had just cut my nails, HAHA. Went to Sam Ash today... in love with acoustic electrics(w/e the White Falcon is. I think that's what they're called)
On my tab it has the xxx56x, then goes into 57xxxx, then 8|10|10|xxx... no barre at all. Unless I have a diff version...
Do you still need a pic of my "2nd version" or are you good? lol

in love with acoustic electrics(w/e the White Falcon is. I think that's what they're called)
Semi-acoustics or hollow body electrics. :)
Johnny_Wah
12-23-2006, 05:41 PM
nah I'm good now :p - thanks for that
what's the difference between semi-acoustics and hollow bodies...I' guessing that a hollow-body electric is something like a white falcon or gibson 335(?)
__
haha i have no clue__

I didn't think there was a difference, although I'm sure that when it comes down to the finer details someone could point some out. MICK? SAMMAS? :p
Semi-Acoustic/Hollow-Body
http://www.soulboxmusic.com/catalog2/images/hollow-med.jpg
But I think 'electric acoustic' refers to an acoustic guitar with a pickup in it.
http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/7933/imageyx7.th.jpg (http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/7933/imageyx7.jpg)
Makes sense to me. Its semi-acoustic because it has a hollow body so the sound resonates within the body. However, it has the characteristics of an electric guitar with the pickups, etc.
Johnny_Wah
12-24-2006, 11:52 AM
amen to that.
haha I've always called electric-acoustics "acoustics with pickups in 'em...you know the ones"
Armistice

Semi-acoustics or hollow body electrics. :)
Ah, thanks!
Yes, when I have the money, and desire, I'd love to get one. I know(as I've said in one of my other posts in another thread) that I wouldn't be able to use it to it's full potential, I think that I could reward myself with one. I think I've come quite far in my abilities for only playing for 7mos, on and off. I'm trying to get Long Live the Wkend down. Doing ok. And my chord changes are getting better... well the 3-5 I know, haha... and my barre changes too(specially to higher strings)

I think there is a slight difference between Semi acoustics and hollowbody's. Ibanez make both with the semi acoustics being a fair bit cheaper.
WHITE FALCON
12-26-2006, 05:44 PM
hollow bodys are fully hollow as in like an acoustic guitar. semi-acoustic electric guitars have a piece of wood underneatht the bridge
im pretty sure
tainted_love
12-26-2006, 09:37 PM
My understanding is that a semi-accoustic is an accoustic guitar with a pick-up in it, but still an accoustic. But an electric guitar can be either semi-hollowbody or fully hollowbody without being an accoustic, because it has dedicated pickups instead of a sound hole.
