Just interested, Im thinking of buying a pedal this weekend (between a delay and a Blues Distortion, all Boss of course!) would Chris's pedal be a Boss? I hear they are great.

(BTW, with the "How do we Know"...You lol riff, does he use a octave pedal when he plays down the the 15th fret?)

Thanks!

It varies what era you are talking about, im pretty certain at the moment he is using a boss DD-20 for delay.

and yes he uses a Boss OC-2 octave pedal for how do we know,HHD and 21st century

Would a DD 3 or 6 come close?

@ matt to the end.
He uses a DD-20 for delay and also i beleive a RE-20 for echo or something (not really sure what a RE-20 does)

As for octave its A Boss OC-2 octave. they dont make OC-2's anymore so you cant buy them new. and yeah as matt heal said uses the octave for How Do We Know, Hey Hey Disbeliever and 21st Century :)

Dont just go for Boss pedals man, they arent the be all and end all, but for a beginner they are good.

@Ben Reed, How do we know is the 15th fret on the b string dude.

EDIT: i have a DD-3 and it honestly does everything you and most players would need.

Sorry for the delay guys (no joke intended) , I'll put another 'Part' up on youtube of Chris' pedals very soon.

Chris uses a DD20, I THINK because his Line 6 DL4 broke. I'm pretty sure I heard someone say that.

Anyway both have great delays, the DD20 is way more sturdy and wont break, however is alot harder to use. You'll notice Chris always fucking about with his one at gigs trying to get the delays in time. Enabling tap tempo and presets take multiple seconds to engade on the DD20 (because everyone is done with one button, depending on how long you hold the button down switches between modes etc... ) where as on the line 6 it is instant depending on which of the 4 buttons you press.

Cool, Fritz did you get my Pm at all?

Another question. Will a distortion pedal (like a Blues Distortion) give a shittyu $150 amp good sounds? I dont really understand pedals, I should by now, over a year of playing lol.

Hey - sorry im abit lazy with messages and emails. between work messages, gear messages, me being awesome messages etc. I get lazy and forget to reply to things.

And nah probably not... You cant polish a turd.

Pedals only sound reallllly good if you have nice sounding signal to start with.

TC Electronic is where it's at my delaying hombres. I know chris doesn't have one, but I've had my Nova Delay for a year now and it's absolutely outstanding. If you're in the market for an intuitive delay pedal that will give you endless delay options I stand by this one. It's a bit more pricey but worth every penny.

He also used an RE-20 for a few of the longnecks gigs yeah?

I use one of them. Fucking great pedal. A lot of guys say they sound exactly like a genuine tape echo. Cool stuff, would reccomend.

Not as versatile as a giga delay though...

all this chat makes me feel like mucking around with my delay and echo pedals tomorrow! im sure they do stuff i dont even know about!!

i usually get a piece of gear, tweak it to a sound I like then never stray away from it. Probably because i never have time to muck about, most times i turn my amp on is on stage at a gig. but i do have tomorrow (today) off

I know how you feel Fritz. I haven't even had a second to muck around with anything lately due to continous rehearsals. The DL4 is pretty cool tho, can do so much crazy shit.

Yeah, the DL4's sound fantastic.

Me comparing...

The DL4 can only have 3 presets, the DD20 has 4.

The DL4 is plastic and breaks easy, the DD20 is alot more stronger

The DL4 is extreamly easy to use, 4 buttons, one for each preset and a tap tempo button - the DD20 is harder to use live as all those functions of the 4 seperate DL4 buttons can only be used with one footswitch on the DD20, depending how long you hold the button down takes you into tap tempo mode etc.. Pretty anoying when you wanna go straight into a song. As I said you always hear Chris wasting abit of time trying to get his DD20 into the right mode.

The DL4 actually has more delay sounds than the DD20.

The DL4's power supply is a one of a kind supply that costs about $150! Bastards!

It's really hard to compare these 2 pedals because they both excell and lack in different departments.

Lately I've been using the DD20 because we've added new songs to my covers show and I like having the extra preset. But yeah its a bitch to use..

I have an old DD3 and a DD6. Both are good but yeah, no switching between presets - one sound is all you get unless you move all the knobs between songs. I've had my DD3 on my acoustic guitar pedal board for about 2 years now.

$150 for the power supply on the DL4? I got a 5 in one power supply which powers all my pedals for $60.

is your delay a dl4?

and is it a power supply with daisy chain??

Jonnno

If hes daisy chaining a dl4 he can use one of those cute little green adaptors that come with the one spot or godlyke that does the ol' DC>AC.

My nova delay uses a similar system to the dd20, its scroll through, but you get 9 presets. Luckily you can choose how many you wanna scroll through so you dont have to waste time going through all 9!

Yeah, there must be something I dont know about?

A DL4 requires minimum 1200mA of power!! most power supplys are only about 1200-1500mA which means if you run with other pedals then your running the high high high risk of frying your pedals. The line 6 power supply puts out 2000 mA of power for the DL4 alone to be safe..

Also they are AC powered, most other things run DC power?? what power supply are you using ?

voodoo lap pedal powers and Dunlop Bricks do it all but they are a good $450 ( i assume if you had one of those you probably would of told us ), just curious to what you use and curious to know if you know if its safe or not ? lol cheers..

Correctomondo!

I'm using the Godlyke Power-All (PA.9) http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/Godlyke-PA9-PowerAll-Power-Supply?sku=155051
I haven't had any problems with using it, should I be worried about it frying my pedals??

Gotta say, the dunlop power brick is just like the godlyke, basically a daisy chain in a box and still heaps expensive. The voodoo labs on the other hand has isolated outputs so it means there aren't going to be any ground or feedback loops through the sockets if some of your pedals are dodgy so if you've got the dough and some unpredictable gadgets thats a good bet. otherwise the godlykes great, and if it sounds good who cares:)

theres a little toy called the gig rig virtual battery, which isolates one output from a daisy chain or power brick/whatever, so if youve got, say, one fuzz that doesnt like sharing a transformer you can pop that in and it'll be eating up clean power supply.

The only thing I've noticed is a bit of a hiss when I play through the pedals, but I think that's more related to the 'gain' considering the pedals I have aren't just cheapies haha
