Will the show be recorded? Much like where Living Underground was from.

Kacky

I believe that Glenn recorded the last Clipsal, so that's how we got LU.

Hey Amy, been to Adelaide before?

Deadcat Kaye

I'm attempting to make plans for this to be recorded in a similar fashion to the 2005 concert. Wish me luck, chumps.

Ahhh, awesome Glenn :)

Matt - from memory it was just done on a digi cam in movie mode. Except that the video was shite, so Glenn kindly uploaded the audio.
I could be wrong though.

hmm cos im considering doing somthing similar for trackside, but the methods ive tested so far dont come out good at all, ie phone voice recorder failed the loud stereo test

My dad uses a Mini-Disc player / recorder to record audio when he goes to shows, and it comes out BEAUTIFULLY. It's really quite amazing. I can't remember what I used to record the first Festival Hall show on the State Of Emergency tour - it didn't come out terrific, but it's listenable. ...and just after Save The Day, you can hear two idiots yelling at each other.

mattheal
11-11-2008, 07:21 AM
well i just tried my old mp3 player in voice record and it is quite listenable though this is just at the max volume my stereo puts out, which is nothing compared to a fulll on TLE gig, but its promising :D

Kacky
11-11-2008, 07:26 AM
Glennbo, even though the quality is shit from the '05 video, can I still have a lookie-see? :)

And it would kick serious arse if you could record Clipsal again. Canadian love for you. X

The Dying Start
11-11-2008, 03:51 PM
The Previ-arse recording was shot with a standard Handi-cam from the back of the crowd base. Since it's so far away from the stacks the sound came out rather well, very little distortion...at least as a result of volume anyway. I was on the barrier, but it was my mates camera, and he was there all day for the cars not the music so i just let him stand up the back and do the deed.

I might rip a bit of the 05 DVD for you Chels, but i'm busier than a one armed bricklayer in Baghdad at the moment, so it might be a few years coming!

I'd love to do some proper bootlegs where the recording device isn't as effected by high volumes, but i don't really have the money or time to invest in working it out.

It's not when you have to travel from Whyalla! And you have to work for a living!

But anything for TLE.

Belinda
01-21-2009, 08:28 PM
Oh that is hard. Well it's always worth. I think it's cool that you travel all that way. No doubt I'll see you there.

And no doubt I'll be with Jarred.

I am considering going to this!

I will be back in Melbourne the weekend before and the week of this, so why not have a few days extra away from work and make it over to Adelaide! Depends what I get sorted out with Amy...if that doesn't go to plan, then I'm going to try and make it over by myself anyway :)

be nice if they chuck in afew lesser know songs and just not the hits

All_torn_down16
02-12-2009, 12:33 PM
I REALLY do hope they consider this gig to be part of the tour and therefore play a setlist like the one's which will appear on it. C'mon TLE, you've gotta do that for us :).

That's cos they had an album on the way.

Big J.G

I know that.

But they weren't exactly playing hit singles werent they? They had obscurity. Which is what a big TLE fan wants.

Deadcat Kaye
02-12-2009, 10:52 PM
It's the festival type enviroment, they will play their hits.
the most out-of-hits song you'll get is probably loaded gun.

It's not as thouhh they'ld play sum of us at a gig like that

Moment In The Sun wasn't exactly a hit.

But I'd say they'll play some obscurity. Not exactly songs you never heard before, but some old favourites. Such as End of the World and Carry Me Home.

I think you'll be right. I don't know for sure, but even though it's a weeknight, i reckon they'll be after 9:30 given the length of the lineup.

All_torn_down16
03-04-2009, 03:59 PM
Yeah, 9:30 sounds about right, probably couldn't be much earlier than that.

Does anyone know what time you'd actually be 'allowed' into where the gig is? Or is it just open all day (even for soundcheck haha)?

The Dying Start
03-04-2009, 04:21 PM
It's open all day. You could stand there like a burke for 8 hours if you so wish.

All_torn_down16
03-04-2009, 04:54 PM
Rightio, do you reckon the bands will come out to do soundchecks or will it just be techs running through it for them?

All_torn_down16
03-05-2009, 02:29 PM

God that was good!

Although I'm most unimpressed with Christopher (or maybe the journalist) because the paper had a brief chat with Chris and he promised some unusual song choices and perhaps a special guest. Perhaps he was talking about the main crux of the new tour (good luck to you all if he was!)

We got a stonkin great set which was pretty much on par with those other recent ones. We got Hey (Hey) Disbeliever instead of Make The Call, which was good. The breakdown in the middle turned into a chorus of Billy Thorpe's "Most People I Know Think That I'm Crazy".

Of course what you want to know is whether recordage was possible...yes. Yes it was!

I'll be getting the tape next weekend, and then i'll do my best to get the mp3's up soom there after. I haven't viewed it yet so i dunno what the quality was like compared to 2005. It was a bit windy last night so there might be a few lulls in the sound. And plenty of bogans talking and shit.

Wew! I'm almost content!

Shadow

I asked Chris to play Hey Hey Disbeliever last time they were here, and he said he would at Clipsal. So happy I got to hear it.

The crowd though was horrible.
It was good to see Ellen again, didn't really see any other farmilar faces. Was with Jarred all day which was great fun.

Next show, Melbourne.

I laughed at Butterfly Effect being cut off.

And Glenn, yay for recordage!

NowhereTown
03-20-2009, 04:33 PM
to be honest, that was one of the best gigs i have been to so far, apart from all the drunk bogans in the crowd that ruined the night.

but the set was sweet, and like glenn mentioned, the "most people i know think that im crazy" breakdown was frekin' awesome.

played alot of songs from the new album, and so classics.

i just wish their set could have gone alot longer.

then waited around til about 11.55 to meet to boys, was just me, belinda and afew friends, so they stopped the torago and hopped out for some photos etc.

was a bloody awesome night, can just imagine how good the RTA shows are gonna be

All_torn_down16
03-20-2009, 04:36 PM
Aw, thanks Chelsea! Here's my review (I've been at Uni all day so that's why it wasn't here yet). And to Belinda, it was cool to see you again too! And great to meet Jarrad as well. :)

So I got there middle of the day and it was a long afternoon, that's for sure. But eventually the gig did start. For the first few bands the crowd wasn't too violent but by the time it got to Gyroscope it was pretty horrible (I agree with Belinda there). Honestly, there were so many people (and that's an understatement) and everyone was a) standing and b) packed in. But that was actually really great for TLE because when the lights on the audience went on, it would have looked really specky for them. I'll try and remember the whole setlist (no particular order except the first 3 and encore):

Raise The Alarm
Prisoner Of Society
Hey Hey Disbeliever
Who's Gonna Save Us?
Roll On
How Do We Know?
Wake Up
Moment In The Sun
Loaded Gun
White Noise
Second Solution
All Torn Down
-------
West End Riot

And somewhere there was the Billy Thorpe song which came out of the blue! So they played absolutely fantastic of course and I'm really glad so many people were singing along/getting into it. Chris said a great lame joke! Something along the lines of: "I wanted to tell you all a lame joke but I didn't know if you'd have any fuel left in your tanks!" Anyway, it will be fantastic if Glenn can get the audio up. Hope that all makes sense because I'm tired!

Edit: There will be Fasterlouder and Triple M pics up of the gig on the net if anyone's interested (only reason I know is because they took lots of pics of us).

My apologies for my false promises people.

23rdPrecinct is in a state of flux at the moment. Well, I'm in a State, and I can't be fluxed to be perfectly honest. It's been far too long between redesigns, but i'm also flat out at work, so it's all kinda muddled, but i might see if i can get them hosted somehow for the meantime.
