I wonder if there will be an all Aussie top 10 this year? I think that last year had 5 or 7 Aussie acts in the top 10...or was that the year before?

Neryssah
01-01-2007, 10:42 PM
Last year was all fucking Wolfmother. Spluh.

I always find it interesting when people pick obscure tracks from a popular band that probably won't get in. I highly doubt Till The End will get in. I'm tipping for LLTW to be tle's highest.

Only like 6 hours left to vote guys!!!

Unfortunately for the first time in 9 years I have to work on Australia Day. Gah, work sucks. BUT i'll record the whole bloody thing and listen to it on my day off on Monday - the added bonus is i get to fast forward through the crappy songs!! I'll just have to avoid anyone or anything that might give away who was number 1 and where TLE came!!

tainted_love
01-24-2007, 05:02 PM
How can Crazy by Gnarls Barkley not win? It was #1 song of 2006 in both American and Australian Rolling Stones, if that is any indication.

cammo
01-24-2007, 05:32 PM
Yep, my moneys on that to win. Im thinking Augie March - One Crowded Hour, Hilltop Hoods - The Hard Road, Eskimo Joe - Black Fingernails Red Wine will round out a predominantly Aussie top 10

I saw that bulletin too Colezy, I think that girl was 'aussie_legends' on the boards if I remember right.

it's ok that I'm happy Augie March topped that chart, right?

cause they're goooood.

Colezy

Ahhh, yes! I had a feeling that she was on here...heh, too bad if she reads my post. She'll get over it, I'm sure.

Don't you listen to Triple J Jess?

That's what I was thinking...
There's CDs and DVDs and everything.

Julian
01-27-2007, 09:48 PM
The hottest 100 is the best songs of the year voted by the public. As opposed to Triple M's coldest 100 which is the best 100 songs of the 70's and 80's

AlinaPOW
01-28-2007, 02:24 PM
Finally I get to find out what happened with the countdown and all I can say is... LAME. Only one song I voted for got into a countdown of 100. That being TLE obviously.

Sarah
01-29-2007, 04:48 PM
Well that sucked hairy balls.

I've just finished listening to the whole thing, and I"m so glad I didn't take the day off work for that.

It's great that TLE got in again, but there was even more shite in this years countdown than ever before.

Meh, glad to see I haven't missed out on anything by not listening to the radio for the last 12 months.

Or maybe I'm just getting old - this was my 10th Hottest 100. Having said that TLE haven't gone the same way JJJ has thankfully! I can't believe it's been 9 years since I first heard The Living End :)

I agree. What's with all the Triple J hate these days anyway? It's all I get from people when I say it's what I listen to. I'm sick of it.

Liz
01-30-2007, 03:34 PM
What's with all the Triple J hate these days anyway? It's all I get from people when I say it's what I listen to. I'm sick of it.

I dunno. Whenever me and friends talk about a song on Triple J or something, everyone laughs.
But then, a few months later, they hear it on a commercial station and like it.

Aaron
01-30-2007, 03:48 PM
There are two main types of Triple J haters: Those who only listen to commercial radio and don't 'get' indie stuff, and those who are so indie that Triple J is too mainstream for them. The latter usually complains that Triple J has gone to shit, while the former complains that they haven't seen the song on Video Hits so it can't be good.

Oh, I suppose there are people who just don't like the music :p

mel_bound
01-30-2007, 03:50 PM
Hahahaha. So true Aaron hehe. I don't care what station it's on, if there's a song on the radio I like I'll stop and listen. But I only very occasionally surf the radio waves.. CDs please!

Julia
01-30-2007, 05:05 PM
Yah, radio is poopy, I can just choose my own music to listen and whack it in the CD player!

Julian
01-30-2007, 06:03 PM
I like to broaden my taste every now and again and listen to music I wouldn't usually listen to

Bec
01-30-2007, 07:14 PM
I agree with Julian. If I didn't listen to radio there'd be a heap of bands I don't know about. I love listening to my cds too but since I don't like downloading music illegaly, radio gives me the chance to listen to songs that I would like to listen to on cd but can't afford to buy yet.

Yes radio is good for that, but I just think there's too much I don't like compared to the stuff I do. That's strictly a personal thing but.. I get my 'new music' from Rage, every weekend I put it on and see if there's anything good. I know I miss alot of bands this way, but it'll do for now :)

i listen to pretty much every radio station, i don't like just listening to one sort of style. if i like a band i write their name and their song down...i swear i have like 100 different bands written all over the place, from school books to scraps of paper to mobile phone reminders :D

I do that sometimes..and I do it for song names..or lyrics to songs if I dont know what its called or who sings it!

Haha that reminds me of all the people who ring up the radio saying: Yeah I want to hear a song, I dunno who it's by or what it's called but it sounds kinda like this *sings really badly and out of tune*

I think the best one I heard was some guy trying to sing Regina Spektor

I have not listened to any radio or watched rage or anything along those lines since year 7 and I haven't found that I'm missing out at all.

Yeah but street presses are generally good for updating on all the good shizz, without all the crap.
