There was some stuff in mx about the festival the other day, and also in this week's beat and/or inpress. I can type them up if anybody wants me to.

02-03-2007, 08:15 AM
If it's interesting and you can really be bothered typing it up, I'm sure somebody will read it. :)

I'm looking forward to seeing Airbourne and Bliss N Esso since I found out they're hiphop?

Bec

I'll type it up a bit later then :)

If anyone's interested, here's a link (http://www.stkildafestival.com.au/objectlibrary/761&filename=Live%20N%20Local%20Grid.pdf) with a timetabley thingy for the whole week and another one for festival day (http://www.stkildafestival.com.au/objectlibrary/759&filename=Festival%20Day%20Grid.pdf) complete with a Mike Jackson performing at Kidzone. Oh dear :p

Ally

Cam, Bliss n Eso are hip hop. I had some friends ask if I wanted to go see them on the 11th and I was all "Hey, are they playing at the St Kilda festival?!" They're playing right after Dallas Crane, which is who I was originally going to see, so I'll hang around an extra hour to see them play.

They're going to be blocking off heaps of the main streets so if anyone is planning to drive in/be driven in, probably not a good idea.

They're going to be blocking off heaps of the main streets so if anyone is planning to drive in/be driven in, probably not a good idea.If you know which streets exactly, could you please let me know Ally?

I was planning to park around Fitzroy Street and walk from there. I think in the past, they block off the streets later in the morning.

Ally

There's a cutout from today's paper stuck on my fridge, I'll go grab it and type it up.

*edit* It was longer than what I was expecting but if you go here (http://www.stkildafestival.com.au/?pageid=233) it has all the streets listed.

cdejonge
02-04-2007, 05:44 PM
Thanks Ally. I think the street I was going to park in, might not be affected. But I'd better get there early I guess.

Alina, I am so, SO sorry, but Dallas Crane ROCKED! Mother and I got to the barrier but some old lady was hogging up so much room that we had to stand behind her. They played for an hour, with about half of the last album and half of Factory Girls, Sit On My Knee, No Thru Road and a cover of Whole Lotta Rosie.

We walked along the beach in the afternoon (dumbest idea ever) and got blown with so much sand that now my skin feels really soft. :p I went for a walk along the pier and got some photos. Purchased some overpriced, disgusting carnival food. I can't think of what else. I didn't spot anybody I knew, except for Bec but that doesn't count because I we planned to meet up. :p All in all, twas a fun day.

The paper today said the winds reached 91km/h. No wonder I'm still covered [mild exaggeration] in dirt/sand/grass 2 showers later.

So much for being a dry event, just queitly. Alcohol and drunk people everywhere. This one bloke did a fabulous job of crowd surfing during Airbourne with a can of VB, didn't spill it, was walking to the exit and security took it off him. Another guy was crowdsurfing and filming himself and the crowd the entire time. That was less amusing and more scary.

St Kilda? Dry?

HA!

cdejonge
02-12-2007, 05:00 PM
Thanks to the dickhead couple behind me for trying to crowdsurf by climbing up people who are squatting so far down, that they get a whole 1 foot higher and to the guy with dreds behind me to smacking my head with his dreds. And thanks also to drunk fool for stumbling into me and landing on the side of my ankle. Had another close call with some guy tumbling/running down the hill.

Apart from that, great day and great music. Wind and flying dirt, grass and sand a bit of a pain, but it was free.

Downloading photos and videos now.

If somebody can tell me the name of this song, that would be great. I think it goes "Things don't get no better, better than you and me."
