This movie is probably gonna be shit, it's one of those "romantic epic" (think fucking Titanic) films, but I just saw a trailer on TV for a movie called "Australia" with Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman that apparently takes place in the days of ye ol' Australia where they were still hacking up Aboriginies and such, and Hugh Jackman rebels for his love or some shit...I live in America, and I don't know much about this movie/Aussie history, but it seems like the type of thing where if I was an Aussie, I'd be kinda pissed. I know a lot of people who would tend to take these sorts of things as absolute fact, because they know jack shit about other countries. Anybody else seen this?

There's something about it that is just so unappealing to me but I can't put my finger on it. That little kid is cute though. Possibly the best thing about it?

There was a spoiler to the film's original ending in the Sunday Herald Sun (Melbourne) and no doubt other papers nationwide, and a small article about how Baz was asked to change it, which it seems he did.

ive seen the trailers where hes the rugged aussie battler and shes the princess from an opposite side of the world .. who could believe that they might fall in love???
then when i saw the shots of jackman walking out of a ball(party) all dressed smart an dapper .. who would of thought he could scrub up so nicely WOW i havent seen that in titanic before.
then the shot of them doing the titanic spin dance in the rain with the aboriginal's got me thinking that this movie might be the biggest pile of predictable shit since the last baz lurman movie.

I don't like that its called "Australia" I think the world will presume that Australia (the country) just loves Australia (the movie) just because it shares that name.

On meet the press this morning there was a cartoon spoof of australia but with k.rudd and wayne swan. It was pretty funny.

It might be on youtube but I wouldn't know what to search without getting clips of the actual movie.
