Awesome. Sounds good. I kinda like the idea of these "Introduce Australian Music" type gigs that are going n overseas. It's a great way to put on a handful of bands at once to show what we've got.

yeh, i reckon a whole heap of aussie bands should do a US tour (sorta like aussie invasion). Get Silverchair, The living End and Grinspoon on a tour!
Disease

Why should the US get a tour with them and not us? Stuff them, give us an awesome such tour.
BennyD
01-10-2007, 09:42 PM
Well yeah true, but those bands tour here a lot more than over there, maily to get those people into our great bands!

i love how tle said NOTHING about this anywhere. it also seems very....random. flying halfway across the globe for one show? i dunno....it isn't that big of a venue;yonge square doesn't hold that many.
do we know this is for sure? rae? a confirmation please?
i'd hate to buy a ticket (which i have a feeling theyre going to be outrageously priced) and find out tle isn't going.
i have high hopes though!!!!:D :D

Many apologies for lack of confirmation and/or news. Due to relocation we've been offline for 3 weeks!!! NO internet, well, a shared very slow mobile connection between 4 people. We're back now and the updates etc will start again soon.

nah, don't think so. they posted a bulliten on myspace that said they were going to do a few shows in new york prior to the g'day toronto gig, but then they said they'll be heading home to start on the new album. which makes me both very sad and very happy at the same time. no more tle, but a new album!

and yeah, if i lived closer to toronto, and it wasn't physically dangerous to be on the roads, i'd go to the edge studios and hear em get interviewed. such as it is, i'm just going to call in and give them love from me and chelsea, supporting in spirit. :]

No dice on the recording...it was really annoying when it only recorded 40 seconds at a time (lame free trials...arrgh)! When I downloaded it, it didn't say how long it recorded for.
All they talked about was Rising Sun, Chris' Gretsch, what they were doing next (taking time off...), if they'd ever played at a Biosphere before (Chris: "I expected it to look like a lab!")...etc.

bahahahahha!
i found a girl's myspace who went to the show, who i saw at the last couple toronto tle shows. she has a review, but it's mostly about silverchair, and all the pictures are of silverchair. i'm going to ask her if she got any of tle.
review anyway:
YOUNG AND DUNDAS SQUARE (G'day Toronto) February 15th 2007
I and 5 of my friends were some of the lucky 400 hundredish to attend the G'day Toronto silverchair concert. I had seen them 6 times before, but never in such a small venue. A tent at Young and Dundas square.
After arriving to line up at 11:30 in the morning, the 6 of us soon discovered that we are the first to show up…while the nice Aussie workers of the G'Day festival assure us that we don't have to wait in the cold all day if we have tickets. Since no one showed up forever, we waited at the Eaton Centre Mall across the street and watched people walk by the tent all day then lined up at 4:30…5ish and all of a sudden a lined formed behind us…. The cold was unbearable, but toughed it out for the best band in the world!
Although the first to get into to the venue the vip winners from the Edge radio station had already taken up most of the stage….but we found a nice spot just to the right of Daniel. After an amazing performance by The Living End, as usual, came the mighty silverchair.
After a short intro, they walked on stage and went right into 'Emotion Sickness', which was welcomed by the whole crowd. Everyone just gazed at amazement. Unfortunately Daniels ear monitor was not working, so he couldn't move around too much for the first few songs.
Yet still amazed everyone by being dead on perfect with vocals. Still I could see a dramatic change, in Daniel when his monitor started working. He seemed way happier and into it. The set was amazing even though the Daniel said it felt like one big sound check…from Diorama we heard 'Without You,' 'The Greatest View,' 'World Upon Your Shoulders' and 'Luv Your Life'
After a few songs Daniel introduced Paul as being one of they're good friends. Who was to the right of Daniel playing keyboards of course, being the 4th member of silverchair….thats like being the 5th Beatle :D
During 'Ana's Song' Daniel made the funniest, crying face, really pissed that I didn't get a picture of it. As soon as the introduced Straight Lines, everyone cheered in anticipation, and sang along to the song as if it was a classic…well it is now!
'Young Modern Station', and 'Mind Reader' are two absolutely amazing, heavy, but danceable songs, the crowd loved it! During 'Mind Reader' Daniel threw a guitar pick at me...but it bounced off the monitor and back on to the stage (damnit!)
At one point in the show Daniel said what I think a lot of us wanted to hear "G'day Toronto" and it was wonderful haha.
When Daniel's guitar tech hands him the Paul Reed Smith PRS guitar with his 'animals have rights too' sticker on it, the die hards knew what was coming. They played 'The Door,' and the crowed went nuts. This is when people attempted to take my spot at the front…but no no no…didn't happen. Then Daniel plays a very sexy guitar solo with his teeth…and tongue. Chris also played an amazing bass solo. Yeah that was pretty special! They also played the Midnight Oil cover 'Don't Wanna Be The One,' which got everyone rocking out like crazy…as did the band. Then came 'Freak'. That got the crowd going once again…then Daniel came right in front of us and did a little ass shaking dance haha.
Daniel thanked the crowd and said "we feel like the Australian music equivalent of the military….thanks for supporting the troops…this is anti war music this is" all the while giggling…Ben and Chris were also laughing.
For the encore they played 'If You Keep Loosing Sleep', during which we all got to witness the Daniel dance (you should know what I'm talking about), and the entire venue was dancing up a storm. They finished with one more Diorama song, the Lever, which has replaced Spawn again as their hard finally. And what a tune it is.
To have seen silverchair play such a small stage, and venue, with such a small crowd was literally a dream come true. Can I say best night ever? Only to be repeated the next day.
