ive noticed especially on the last show i saw for the white noise tour that theyre show is becoming way too predictable and they still seem to play mainly from the s/t album as opposed to playing only a 4 songs from W.N not including loaded gun which really pissed me off. I'd love to see them ditch the greatest hits show and put in some songs from M.A or roll on that they never play. i do remember chris saying that he doesnt wanna be 30 an playing prisoner of society .. though theyre still doing it every night.
thoughts?

i thought they stopped playing it for a while. I was surprised to hear it the other month. I was thinking about this a while ago but cos they have more songs, instead of cutting other favs i would like them to think about extending the set by say 20mins :p

Like they would tour a new album i would like to hear more than 2-3 songs off it instead of the same old same old i have heard for years. A little surprise would be nice

totally agree
im not expecting this but personally im sick of Roll On, and prisoner of society
i remember chris saying "where not here to play old songs so heres a new one" but playing
hdwk, rtalarm, w.n, mits, an make the call arent enough for me, an if not that play some obscure stuff like a couple of covers or anything off roll on its their best album in my opinion an all you ever hear is the title track.

On the tour they played HDWK, Raise The Alarm, White Noise, MITS, Make The Call, and Loaded Gun consistently, if not every night (although we don't have reports from EVERY show so we're not entirely sure).

At certain shows, they played Kid (Enmore), Hey Hey Disbeliever (Melbourne Night #2), and Sum Of Us (various shows but not either of the Melbourne shows)...

...but they never belted out Waiting For The Silence (though they did in Sydney before White Noise was released), or 21st Century (which, to date, has never been played live by "The Living End", though it was believed to have been played on every night of The Longnecks tour).

I know what you mean about playing similar sets every night though... apparently at the first show of the tour in Perth, they played Read About It, which was a surprise to all of us, though it didn't seem to get played again, and so did Listen Up Suzy, though I can't remember where. Word got around for a little bit that they did a cover of Amy Winehouse's "Back To Black" at that Perth show where they did Read About It, but it's unsure whether the person who informed us of that confused it with another song, or whether it did indeed happen. (It certainly didn't seem to happen again on the tour.)

I wish they'd swap in some lesser played or never played songs... for example Blood On Your Hands, Silent Victory, Killing The Right - basically, the incredible songs from Roll On that are never given a chance to shine. I agree with you hands down about them playing Roll On tunes.

It'd be awesome if they ran that poll again that let fans vote for a song they wanted to hear on the tour... Rae seemed to be the mastermind of that, and it ran for the ASOE 2006 tour, the song that ended up being voted for the most was their cover of Tainted Love (which was very awesome to hear live), I wonder if they'd do it again, only this time remove Tainted Love as a choice so that we'd get a different "winning" song.

WOO end of post.

A nice surprise was Read About It from the Perth gig at the start of the tour...

I wish I was there. Not only to see it, but bootleg it so I can listen to it over and over.

And they did play it, as confirmed by 2 people who went to the gig.

Me and my age of 17, that was the only thing stopping me...but no stopping TLE perth shows next year (well, after April 20)!

They even played So Lonely on one of the longneck shows in late 05.

I saw it on youtube and was like...wow.

Surprising songs they played on the White Noise gig:

By the way, Listen Up Suzie I think was played in Adelaide.

Nah, I dont think it was cos it's Glenn's dads fave song and he was bummed that he didn't get to hear it.

That was to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Corner Hotel in Richmond, Melbourne - which they played as The Longnecks. Special.

Did they play anything else at this show? I don't really know too much about what happened at the Corner gig... maybe someone here went to it?

What gig were you at? The Arena, Brisbane?

they played listen up suzy at the arena in brisbane

totally agree, they need to put Hold Up and Carry Me Home back into the sets. Definatly Loaded Gun (i've only seen them play it once live).

They should play more songs like Monday, Save The Day, Dirty Man, Silent Victory, End Of The World & Into The Red

They tend to play Who's Gonna Save Us alot. Is that the only Mod Art song they consistantly play?

I have a list of some of (maybe all) the songs played at the corner gig in 05...will try to find it :)

i thought it was cool how they did "run to paradise" before kicking into roll on, thats the sort of stuff i love when bands can do a 30 second cover an turn it into one of their own.
i also blame my friend making me go to the gold coast show an not the brisbane show because i think they would of played a simpler set for the gold coast because the people there are fuckin retarded and probably couldnt fathom a mixed set.

its weird that they started the tour experimenting and finished it doing the same old.

Ditto on the almost bursting and memory things.
Had lost a family friend that day tho, so my mind wasnt really with the gig, and despite being completely blown away that they'd finally played my song (all us oldies up the back turned to each other as if to say "they wouldnt...would they?!" and then the cheering started) I just wished they'd played it any other gig.
Completely forgotten the rest of the set from that show.

...but they never belted out Waiting For The Silence (though they did in Sydney before White Noise was released), or 21st Century (which, to date, has never been played live by "The Living End", though it was believed to have been played on every night of The Longnecks tour).

Two things really pissed me off when my phone was stolen earlier this year.
1) Really cute YKB pic I'll never see again.
2) All the songs from the Longnecks tour gone :(
Loved WFTSTE & 21st Century...

I've heard End Of The World live, now that was fuckin' kickass!

i remember at the brisbane august 1 myspace show they started playing tainted love but chris forgot the next chord so they stopped and went into......"lone ranger"?? which didn't last long because everyone else was calling out requests so they just played woyr. even though it was my first tle gig, i'd have to say that it'd beat most on the actual tour. 2 and a half hours straight, no supports and then they even did a meet and greet at the end. wish i could be more helpful with the setlist but they did play a lot of classics. and newies including loaded gun.

That Longnecks show they played sooooooo many goodies - so glad I went to that one!

Black Cat
Nothing Lasts Forever (got some serious eye contact/sync grooving with Scotty)
Into the Red (got very strange looks for knowing and screaming the lyrics to this one)
Girls Talk (99.999999999% sure it was at that show i saw it)
So Lonely

can't remember the others, but i got bootlegs, so i'll look through them tomorrow when i get back from work.

And on the topic of predictable setlists, like i've said before i was super glad i didn't go to the Melby WN shows - would have been very disappointed. But at the same time you can't expect them to fill a whole show with new songs, you'd probably get riots from the bogans in the crowd! But yeah, wouldn't hurt to chuck in some long forgotten oldies, different one for each show or something.

I think you are right about girl talk Sarah, and i was going to say into the red, but then thought maybe i was just saying that cause of the order on the album, you know how they get associated in your head cause of track listing :p

Girls Talk was def played then.
Funny. I was listening to the Dave Edmunds version on the way to school this morning...

They also nailed a couple of 'Cats covers during that original Longnecks tour didn't they? Or was that before the Longnecks?

I'd love to have seen them back when they were starting out, hear some EP's and covers live and been to a few gigs on each tour and see them play all of their songs (not at the one gig though)

That would be really awesome.

What's been annoying me lately is that I've been constantly listening to Hellbound and I just want to hear each song played live! Not just the '96 remix they do, but each song from start to finish. It would have been nice to have known TLE back then, and I envy those on here who did, and saw their shows then!

Yeh, I'd like to see them perform Trace Of Doubt or Stay Away From Me.

Classics there!
