Interesting use of words :p

TBH I think they suck full stop, but I'm not going to try and convince anyone who wants to go not to

Rhiannon

Haha, you all suck!

I'll be there. I'm going to the one in Melbourne.

wow are they really that shit live?
this will be the first time i've seen them.

Rhiannon

No, they're really not. If you like them you'll love them live. If you're not into their music then naturally you're not gonna like them on stage.

Yo, if you don't like a band just keep outa' their thread, ok?

i saw them supporting green day in 2005. i didnt know any of their songs then but they seemed ok live. im not going to the sideshow but i am going to the BDO...and im looking forward to seeing them.

Jessii
01-13-2007, 10:43 AM
Pissed off, cause my bf loves them so i said i'd go to the gig as it was 18+ (you cant walk through perth without running into a bunch of kids in chemical romance shirts who sit in the same spot in the city everyday looking sad)
Now it's been changed to all ages gig in the afternoon so i've gotta take the day off work and there are gonna be little kids everywhere.
I'm aware i'm a snob but dammit!

AlinaPOW
01-13-2007, 02:51 PM
perfectly understandable. i point and laugh. i saw them when they supported Green Day also, and I'll say, their fanbase is scary in a mosh. I thought I was doomed to death so I didn't really get a chance to concentrate on them much...

Jessii
01-13-2007, 03:12 PM
I'm scared about what their lighting is going to be like as well.

You can't walk anywhere in perth without walking past a black fringe in a mcr shirt. The tour poster now says "Due to rediculous demand show now all ages at 4pm"

AlinaPOW
01-13-2007, 03:18 PM
That's ridicilous. Like there's obviously a bajillion fans in melbourne, but not so that you'd really notice it...

ooooh, the lighting. Well that could be a handy way of missing the show?

Willb
01-13-2007, 04:08 PM
i will be there at the Hordan show going nuts!

i got to meet them at Green Day last year and they are the nicest buch of blokes (after TLE)

give them a chance, at least they are writing music they believe in and not writing crap like The Pussy Cat Dolls or someone do!

That's so odd, cause everyone else I've spoken to about it has said how it never really went off until after MCR, that MCR's mosh was comparitively tame. I honestly can't remember what the crowd was like, I was too focused on what was going on onstage.

Their live show has improved a lot since they toured with GD in '05 and since TBP came out, their fans have become completely fanatical, their mosh is now pretty crazy. Mostly 14 year olds screaming "I Love you Frank". Gerard needs to quit smoking though, he's cut down but his voice is still a little ragged and he becomes winded. They are supposed to be on tour for 2 straight years, his voice will never make it if he doesn't quit.

i think i'd enjoy seeing them live, but i'm one of those closet fans of theirs (not one of the hugely open ones). and i don't think i was really into them at all when tickets had already sold out

Jessii

Paul brought ours when it was 18+ and got ticket 152, my friend who bought one lastweek got 3628

Supposedly Gerard's new year's resolution is to quit smoking.

Ah really?
Well I was in the Idiot Zone, one row from the front, and it was without a doubt the scariest mosh I've ever been in. Which is saying something.

Bec

I found the mosh at green day through all the bands pretty calm. I started off right at the back and ended up about three rows from the front, around where Mike was. Actually one of the nicest crowds I'd been in, everyone seemed to just accept their spot and didn't try to push anyone else out of the way. But I guess if you were closer to the middle it could have been a lot more hectic.

He's been trying for a while now. He will, it's just a matter of time. Heaps harder than giving up the alcohol and such. It's not exactly threatening his life the same way the alcohol and drugs were, so I guess there's that little bit less motivation.

AlinaPOW
01-14-2007, 04:30 PM
But I guess if you were closer to the middle it could have been a lot more hectic.

Precisely where I was. You know what SUCKS? Two songs before Knowledge I got pushed by three fat, sweaty guys out of second row position, to a really crap place where I couldn't see so I gave up and moved to the back. I'd been so pumped about putting up my hand when Billie needed to find a bassist, and as it turned out I would've been prime location, he ended up having to look so damn far for one. I'll admit it, a few tears slipped out.

damo0945

its pretty amazing they still do that with the massive crowds they play to these days.
they should do one of their own songs, maybe 2000 light years away coz its easy as, but i spose knowledge is tradition now, anyone know any of the people thatve done it? is it just the guitar that the person keeps? coz i think when i was there the bass player stagedived.

Australia/NZ aren't getting the full lineup for MCR anyways,.

Their guitarist has pulled out of the band because of illness. So they will have some stand in guy.

Ailing My Chemical Romance guitarist leaves tour
My Chemical Romance guitarist Frank Iero abruptly returned home to the U.S. from Japan on Thursday morning (January 11th) due to a "sudden attack of illness," according to MTV. A band spokesperson did not disclose the nature of Iero's illness or his condition. The group was in Tokyo when Iero was taken ill, where they were preparing to begin a four-show mini-tour, and has enlisted Todd Price of the band Drive By to fill in for the guitarist.

My Chemical Romance will remain in Japan until Sunday (January 14th), when the band flies to New Zealand for the January 19th beginning of the Big Day Out festival tour.

The New Jersey-based punk act will begin a North American tour in support of its new album, The Black Parade, on February 22nd

Yeah, I read a similar thing on Alternate Press. I'm naively refusing to accept that as yet, hoping he'll make it back in time for Melbourne.

Kev

Another article I read said he won't be back to tour with them.

And I also heard that MCR considered cancelling the rest of their tour because of this illness.

jnine
01-15-2007, 05:46 PM
One story is it's due to him having his wisdom teeth pulled just before going to Japan, the other story is he's had a recurrence of Epstein Barr. According to MCR's street team, he has left New Jersey for Australia and is going to do the tour.

Rhiannon
01-15-2007, 09:01 PM
It looks like Frank's going to tour. The Australian MCRmy are saying it, as is the Blade You Stain site, and now I have it from a friend who has connections to My Chem that he's playing.

There's 1000 different stories about how he got sick, the most common being him getting his wisdom teeth pulled, there being a complication which resulted in a fever. Doesn't really matter, bottom line is he isnt well.

My Chem wont cancel. Worst case scenario is that Todd will play instead of Frank. Unless, touch wood, Frank ends up on his death bed. It took Bob nearly dying before MCR cancelled shows late last year. Even then, Bob didn't want to cancel. Until he realised how serious his condition was, that is.

Also, Another Day Down is supporting:

Brisbane five piece, Another Day Down are confirmed to support My Chemical Romance on their national tour which kicks off this week.

The band will play all shows in Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne.

And on and on it goes. Source (http://www.accessallareas.net.au/data/EEyllFplkkalLqHAYV.php).

Apparently it's yet confirmed by My Chem, but it looks like that's who it is.

Strange.1039

they wrote a bulletin on myspace saying they were.

Frank isn't touring BDO.

He wasn't at Auckland and won't be joining the band for the rest of the tour.

Reviews from hardcore MCR fans said their set was shit. Very flat, dull and boring.

The mosh pit on the other hand was pretty intense. From the video footage from C4 (NZ TV station) the pit was likened to the Limp Biscuit mosh. It was mostly non MCR fans causing shit.

Jawn

yeah, Tool on the BDO was the stupidest thing ever. Not only are the fans rabid, the band isn't even suited to a festival show.

My sisters bf is a massive tool......................fan and he's made my sis fly with him to melb and syd to go to their sideshows.

Rhiannon
01-22-2007, 10:36 AM
Rumour has it that Frank was told by the doctor a few days back that he couldn't fly for 7 days due to risk of hemorrhaging, meaning he'll miss Brisbane and Sydney, but be back in time for Melb, Adelaide and Perth. Again, I'm just waiting and seeing.

I've heard very different responses from 'hardcore' fans, just quietly.

Kev
01-22-2007, 09:44 PM
at the GC BDO half of the d-barrier kids sat down at the start of the MCR set.

Rhiannon
01-27-2007, 03:32 PM
Frank started bleeding from the nose and mouth again two days back, so he's been told he's not allowed to fly for another few weeks. Todd's gonna finish off the tour with My Chem. The sideshows have been going off, getting better every night. Setlist is pretty damn awesome too. Pretty much what we predicted it would be. I've been hearing all the stories from friends as well as forumers and people on the Aus MCRmy, it just sounds incredible.

This probably isn't very helpful but Phil wrote in a blog on Grinspoon's myspace:

i went and saw my chemicals at hordern. they had lots of flashing lights.

Knowing Phil he's probably just being silly (would you trust this man (http://static.flickr.com/102/282034827_c1bd95e3df_o.jpg)? :p)but I thought I'd let you know just encase.

So... pissed off.

So i had one seizure, which i'm used to, but i'm pissed with the fact that security made as wait in the sun, where as normally we line up on the other side undercover at that venue, and because half of me was in the sun IM LIKE A FUCKING LOBSTER ON ONE SIDE OF MY BODY WITH A VERY OBVIOUS LINE IN BETWEEN

I look so stupid..

And... i fucking hate all ages gigs. No offence to young people, but just.. people.. at this.. gig so...annoying. One girl even looked at my friend and said "Hah look at that girl she's not even wearing converse shoes!"
