View Full Version : Europe - dates TBA (yay for Simon!)
I know..... shock horror. We're working on plans now to get the band to Europe (not just the UK) in 2009. Make sure you're signed up to the email list to find out the details as soon as we have them. Album release plan also in the making. More news soon.

great news, european as well as uk dates gives me a good excuse to use up airmiles!
obviously they should play at my new venue in London even tho it is a fraction of the size of the astoria / electric ballroom.
actually if they did the astoria that would probably be my last gig there as they're knocking it down soon - be a good one to go out on.

yeah they've already started work outside and some of the bands playing there next year have moved there gigs elsewhere.
Ahhh now I'm so interested! Can't wait to hear some dates announced.
Have to start doing visa for my bf, I can't go to Germany or France or anywhere else alone :p
Would be HAPPY if TLE are going to visit Finland or Sweden. It's so near to Russia

nothing seems to have leaked out yet so I would guess that maybe there's a chance of some festivals and they're going to work the dates around that which puts it into summer. Can't see anything getting announced between now and Xmas so even if something is announced right at the start of jan you'd be looking at April onwards.
The living end european dates!
the living end are very pleased and proud to announce their first european dates for 2009! Along with the unleashing of their new album white noise!
After playing completely sold out shows all over the wide brown land of australia (not to mention some fairly riotous festivals) it seemed such a shame to deprive the good folk across the pond a chance to witness this incredible live experience.
If you're wondering exactly how incredible, this is what rolling stone thinks:
"white noise simply captures the finest live band this country has produced since ac/dc firing on a couple of extra cylinders.
"
it's been a long between drinks for the living end and europe. Not since 1999 have tle hit so many european locations. This time they are fired up and armed with an arsenal of new songs. And rest assured there will be plenty more where that came from.
2008 has been a stellar year for the band in australia, with white noise hitting both the airwaves and the charts hard. White noise has been wildly successful here at home. Debuting at #2 on the national charts, first single white noise was absolutely massive on australian radio, snatching the coveted #1 added track to radio upon release. White noise attained gold status in just one week. To cap all of this off white noise bagged tle the best rock album award at this year's aria awards.
Now we are very excited to announce the release of white noise throughout european territories in early 2009 through v2/cooperative music. Stay tuned for the particulars.
All this news is so delightful that to celebrate there is a special ticket pre-sale organised for people who simply cannot wait to hold them in their hands. This friday december 12 is your chance to get in early... See below for all dates and details.

you get cheap flights to Amsterdam? there is nothing good really from this end, always with one stopover, seems like there are no direct flights from Stuttgart.

From Cologne to Berlin you should try to fly with Germanwings or Tuifly - see you onboard :)
Sightseeing: In Cologne you could have a look at the famous cathedral - but I think it is a little bit overrated. Berlin offers a lot of opportunities where you could go: German Parliament, Brandenburg Gate, "Siegessäule", Potsdamer Platz, etc.

Borrow some money from friends and we'll got the needfull sum. Happines that we have close friend in Berlin - George, he will help us with invitation, and we work on it now.

there is a cheap flight from Cologne to Berlin, I think with Air Berlin on the 26th of April, leaves at 3 pm. It's about 45 Euros per person and takes about 50 minutes. Train would take longer and probably cost more (I don't think you can buy train tickets so much in advance). My boyfriend and I are on the mentioned flight, as well as Fundie. Thanx God!!! Fe found a friend in Cologne! Last summer psychos The Meantraitors was there and we met russan immigrant psycho boy - Max, and he stays at our place . We write to him 2 days ago and wow - we didn't know that he lives in Cologne. So it's good news - now we have place to stay.
He-he, also one our friend who lives in Eberswalde now found out to us a plan how to travel on train through 5 german cities at night for 35 euro for both ;) We dunno, but maybe we'll used this crazy but cheap way from Cologne to Berlin. Still we are Madtwins :woot:

Oh, you mean the Weekend ticket by Deutsche Bahn? That 'd be really crazy, you'll travel for about ten hours. So you'll see a lot of Germany's.. ahem - railway stations. :D But you can also try to pick up some people @ the stations to drive with you on the ticket if they give you a bunch of euros.. ;)
How are you flying to Germany? With Wizzair?

We dunno. Flight from Kiev to Cologne on needfull date still not reported. And it's can be canselled. So we not decided. Our friend used bus one time. It costs 90 euro. Train and other plains more expencive.
Pick up some people it's interesting, but we need to get to Berlin and it's depends from how expenicive will be our tickets from Kiev to De.

We spent all new year selebration for discussing of getting visas to germany. For 24 hours we listened 3 different stories about it, and got to know alot. The best was that one our friend was in same situation: it was hist first foreign trip and he's going to live at our friend George apartment. And his story about: "How you got to know this guy?" is the same that ours :) And he got visa and was in Berlin. Difference was that he's got alot of money on his bank account, we not. But we have more hope now.

No, won't be able to do Grozerock.
Received all my tickets now! For everyone that is going to the gig in Amsterdam make sure you will order a ticket including Membership (which is obvioulsy needed for Melkweg).
Has anyone a hotel/hostel/backpacker recomendation for Berlin (cheap and nice)? Should be somewhere between Ostbahnhof and Airport Tempelhof.

I bought a German phrase book last night. My dad and step mom think if I have a "passion" for something then it gives me a better chance at going where I want to go, or do what I want to do.
I'm probably going to order tickets for Cologne and Berlin if all goes as planned (orignally I was going to do Amsterdam and Cologne). Anyone want to split the cost of a room with me if my plans go through? I want a cheap(ish) hotel for both cities, (hostels are okay too).

I think Amsterdam is off for us. I just looked at hotels and the dumpsters close to the venue are 130€ a night (230 Aussie$). I would've wanted to stay two nights to at least try to see a bit of Amsterdam and the plane or train tickets to and from there will be in that price category too so there is no way I can / want to afford this.
If there is really gonna be a return of the band to Europe later in the year two shows will have to be enough for now.

Woo-hoo #1! We got our german invitations today. Our friend Gerorge pass it through Berlin-Kiev train with his friend, so our first step for getting visa is done. Also George said that he purchased TLE gig tickets for us but they didn't arrived on time when his friend go back to Kiev, so he'll pass them later. But WE GOT TICKETS to Kologne and Berlin gigs
Also we was at ukrainian web-site of German embassy and read FAQ about getting visa. It was totally pressing. Especially parts where they directly and openly saying that they heared 100 fake stories from people who want to stay in Germany illegal and "don't you think you can cheat us". Also we need to bring proofs of our friendship with person who invite us and photos isn't work. We hope that fact that we did a cartoon Smereka about our friend and Mad Heads in 2003 will be enough!

I have the feeling that Deutsche Bahn changed something with the trains. I wrote an E-Mail asking which connection I now can take. But it seems like that there are no direct connections from Amsterdam to Colone at the weekend of 25./26. April.
I have a trainticket for a train which isn't running - haha how ridiculus is that. Hope I get some of my money back, the cheapest traintickets are now 19 Euros.
Yea - it's interesting that you need in fact 2 tickets to get into the venue!

I think they will rebook me on the train which departs at 13.22. That one arrives the same time my original connection would have (but one hour longer travel time :( )

4 hours isn't so bad actually, I expected 6-7 (if taking bus).
that's why I'm afraid to buy tickets now - we may not get visas (which is quite impossible, but anyway!!!) and it's hard to get money back then. especially for plane tickets

Sure it's not too bad, but the other connection was quicker.
I think you won't get much money back fro the train, cause the cheap once are special rates with special conditions.
Try to figure out what I can do now, called deutsche bahn but the guy I was speaking to wasn't really helpful...

The Living End have just been confirmed for the Austrian Nova Rock (http://www.novarock.at/) Festival in June.
hopefully this means they'll do Donington which is the weekend before. Andy Copping (who books the bands) loves bands like TLE so I can't see him saying no to them.

FUCK THAT SUCKS!!! I booked a hotel 500m away from the Luxor. At least I got a refundable rate, but Fundie didn't.
it's good for them but bad for the fans who need to be in front row.

We will be in a first row :)
Yvonne can you tell us the name of the street where are Berlin gig will be? We want to check how far we will be. For Cologne it's not very important because we arrived after 17th o'clock, so we guess we'll be on the streets before gig.

I knew I should have booked a room with the more expensive rate. Well, still not too bad and the club is at least still in walking distance. Would have been nice to stay at the same hotel and travel to Berlin together though (Guess we still will do that :) )
Where will you stay now?
Flo: Where did you find this information? The Gloria Theater does not state TLE yet.

me too. I know I have to be there like 2 hours early to get into front row and I don't wanna travel 600 kilometres to end up in the middle somewhere where I can't see anything. After all I'm Germany's biggest TLE fan. :ninja:
Fundie

I totally understand you! My advantage is that I'm quit tall and it's not that fatal if I'm not gonna make it in the very first row. But it's still nice to stand there
I am Switzerlands biggest TLE Fan (if not the only one :p) as far as I can tell
I am definitely russian biggest fan :D
hehe, and we all will meet together!
oh, i'm not happy with bigger venue, too.:ermm: we'll be in Cologne only at 17:20, I guess, but how early should we arrive to be in the first row?? when concert starts?
capacity of melkweg oude zaal is 700.

Well, you're a little bit little for that, aren't you? :p
But their will be much fans from Germany doing both gigs and much more after all I've heard.
I'm hoping for smaller locations when TLE are in countries like Italy or Switzerland later in the year.

We sure Yvonne is the biggest german TLE fan! In fact she have a TLE tatoo - can anybody beat it?
Ha-ha! We super sure we are the biggest Ukrainian TLE fans! But we think the best description to all of us it's "the most devoted fan". Because Vadim from Mad Heads was ukrainian TLE fan before us, and Yougurt is elder russian TLE fan (he's most known and respectfull underground psychobilly guy from Snt.Petersburg). An he's also waited for this chanse along time and going to be in Berlin.
We are short, and Amur too, so pleace all tall boys stand back! But we are always fight for first row alot of times in our lives. And we fearless and tuff girls in this question! But it seems that in the first row will be only friends from this board, so it will be easy for us all.

not only the tatt. I've seen TLE 9 times so far. none of these shows were in my home country Germany. I travelled all the way to the US to see them, as well as the UK twice.
This wasn't supposed to be a competition. I still win it nonetheless. :woot:

This posts about who is the biggest fan it's just a cute jokes
We respect such travelling as you done. For people like us it's excessivly expencive. We really have chanse to travel to germany only now because we live for our own money and we saved up some bucks through 4 years. But this travel is still a madness. We keep it in secret from our mother because she never understand us in our passions and now her salary is a little more from 60 euro per month. And here is a crisis in country now. So it's good that we live in different towns.
Anyway nobody's opinion about how stupid and risk we cut down our budget can't stop us from this decision. We never saw TLE live before and years going buy - that's our reason.

Amur: When will you arrive in Amsterdam? I think my flight will arrive around 5 o'clock, so I won't be able to be at Melkweg before 6 I guess.
