Bendigo Hotel (Collingwood) Rockabilly Sundays

Thought some of you may be interested to know that the Bendigo Hotel on Johnston St Collingwood are holding free Sunday arvo rockabilly sessions. This Sunday, Rockability aka Firebird ( http://www.myspace.com/rockabilityband ) are playing. Think you should all come. Starts at 3pm and goes til late I believe. And did I mention it's free? Werd up yo.

Who also have rockabilly sundays.

Rockability played there a few weeks ago, haha Chris played an electric bass and you could just tell he was a double bassist.
His bass set up was weird but it sounded really good.

but anyway, they play some good tunes, though I'ld prefer Firebird over Rockability.

Firebird are great, but they use the name Rockability for the rockabilly gigs when they do mostly covers to please the dancers and oldies. This Sunday was great though, it was pretty much a giant jam session with a whole bunch of kids jumping up on stage and playing. Including Hugo on the bass. It was highly amusing seeing him playing Fireball Baby and a few other tunes while Chris sat with me and gave him shit! Good little venue too, it's nicely decked out (for a pub in Collingwood anyway), intimate and the bar staff are really friendly. Happily served us lots of booze, yeehar!

For anyone who is interested, Sunday 28th should see Boot Boy Scally and Firebird doing a couple of sets at the Bendigo. More details TBA (ie when I sort it out haha).

Ferntree Gully is too far away for me for just a regular Sunday arvo session. I only like their big rockabilly events when there's heaps of bands and cars. Otherwise it's not really worth the trip.
