View Full Version : TLE in the USA??? What's the deal???

I'm not too sure if any of the boarders could answer this question, perhaps someone who has talked with the band/management at shows could...so I guess this is really a question for Rae if she ever sees it.
Are there any plans to release the album in the states at this point, and beyond that, to tour?? Obviously they'd want to release the album here first so they have something to tour on...it just seems unusual to me that nothing has been announced even further down the line. Usually the U.S. release date isn't far behind, because as far as I know they're still trying to make that elusive dent in our notoriously fickle market, and then they follow it up with at LEAST a brief tour...does it have to do with the fact that they switched to a smaller (albeit far more supportive) label in Dew Process?? EMI probably had more bucks to throw at them to finance a trek up North...or have they just decided to shrink their touring radius and settle in back in their homeland of Oz, now that Chris and Scott are daddies?? What's the deal??? 2 years and no shows is too long....I'm in withdrawal!
Dew Process has nothing to do with TLE touring America.
Adeline would bring them over perhaps, because they're TLE's rekkid company in the states

i was kinda thinking about this myself
they've certainly waited a while to release it/announce a tour
the last i heard was that its probably them wanting to take it easy over the summer, and then take on other stuff in the new year?
and there was something about Adeline, and their plans, which i forget :p

I do hope they're planning a tour here eventually. I was hopeful they would be announced on 2009's Warped Tour but they're not apart of it this year.
I'm sure the guys know they have a loyal fan base in the States, especially on the West Coast. Maybe they'll be out here after the European trek, so that'll be Summer time for us. I can't believe it's been 2 years since I've seen/met them.

I know! I've kinda been in "lurker" mood lately, but this thread made me go through all the trouble of getting my passcode. :p
And you can call me Ashton, by the way. :)

I do kinda wish us U.S. Living End die-hards were a bit of a more tight-knit group here....obviously the fan-base is significantly smaller than in Oz, but I'd be damned if we aren't some of the most over the top passionate....
Although I suppose that's easier to do when you can jump on stage and grab the mic to sing the outro of "Monday" and NOT be thrown off...

I know this sounds a bit off topic but there's a bit of sense to it!
There was this doco going on about Aussie artists that are successful over the states and they interviewed Neil Finn from Crowded House. He said that his main aim with breaking the US market was making sure that they release their album/material in America at the same time, or even earlier, than Australia. He said that the reason behind this was that when you release the album, you gotta tour it and that if there was a delay in between release dates, you're gonna have to tour for an album which has been what, a year old. Later, he added on that when that happens, it sorta screws up your creating writing process.
Couldn't help but relate that to TLE. StateOfEmergency was released what, Feb 2006 (any correction that is welcome) and I can't remember what date they released it in US but i remember they were still in the middle of their tour August 2007.
Sure there's probably valid arguments with the fact that an aussie tour takes what, 2months (SOE was extra long with two tours including a regional) but hopefully you'll get the vibe that there could be a change in the strategy they could be taking? Does this make any sense? All for the best of the boys right?
It doesn't help that the Aussie dollar is so shit at the moment either.

I miss the days of the CAD being at par with the USD.
*Le sigh*
Though its stil cheaper for me to buy stuff from America than buy it here. for instance clothing/shoes.
Why pay $175 for something here, when it only cost me $75(inc shipping) from America.

'some' guitar gear stuff is about even now..
I just purchased some new valves and getting them from the USA or a shop in Australia was about the same price. Actually, very much the same.

I still wouldn't be suprised if they support Greenday on an american tour when they release their album this year. Although they do deserve their own shows too.
