I'm the first to tell you I know pretty much anything to do with guitars, but as far as amps I dont really know a hell of alot except about what amps exist and what ones sound like.
Anyway........ In one of my bands I want to run two heads and one cabinet.
A wizard or non master marshall with a hotplate for dirt and a fender bassman/supersonic/tonemaster (whatever i end up buying) for cleans.
Now I know I can run each amp seperately by using a tonebone pedal. The pedal acts as a dummy load for the amp that isnt in use with the speaker cabinet. (http://www.tonebone.com/tb-headbone-vt.htm)
But..... Is there anyway that I could use BOTH amps at the same time with ONE of my cabinets ??? All my cabinets only have one input and are all 16ohms.
Is there anyway i can run my amps at 8 ohms or something and have both amps working at the same time through the one speaker cabinet ?? (for example, have one amp on the whole time but kick the 2nd amp in as a solo boost).

while we're here, how exactly do you run a guitar into two amps?

Ok, first of all, to the best of my Knowledge, you dont Wire two heads to one speaker, but the other way around usualy 1 head to 2 speaker boxes... or alternatavleto answer Damos question
get a Stereo lead and have 2 heads (well if your runnign effects you dont need 2 heads) and 2 speakers set up each as one set, and Go into your effects and out using a splitter lead or if its a delay it will have 2 outputs, and run one into each head or amp. Good for ping pong delay and stuff

Back in the day I used to use a Marshall SLP and a Fender Deville at once.
The fender wasnt going through my quad though.
I just plugged the leads going out of both amplifiers and into my delay pedal (which has two inputs) and my other pedals came out the other side of the delay pedal then into my guitar

Dont you mean 2 outputs, and from the Guitar out to your amp, i know its picky, but its important when talking about this stuff.
So it went, Guitar ----> Delay |}------> Head,-----> Amp
----Just lining up--------Delay |}------> Head,-----> Amp

so, in its most basic form you run a stereo lead that splits into two (mono) jacks?
do you lose signal power doing that or would that only be if you split a mono?

well, it depends on your Pedals, Its better to have a pedal that Has 2 outputs and simply run 2 normal Jack leads.
But yes you could get a Stereo lead that splits into 2 monos. And it shouldnt have any power problems
