song Real Gone Cats that has been perfomed by Runaway Boys back in the day...who's the author? or it is a mixture of various stadart rockabillish riffs/vocals composed by Chris?

only songs which have been released at a later date of course. :)

Now that I work there, I'm able to put up photos for merch that has missing photos! I took a photo of the shirt today and uploaded it - it's the White Noise "guns for fingers" thing from inside the album cover, over the band logo. Check it out:

I remember there was something special about SS/POS single, was it in some kind of chart for 10 years or what? I need to clear this up because I'm writing an article on russian (possibly for magazine, wish me and TLE luck!) and would like to list interesting/important facts in it.

The Dying Start

Prisoner Of Society was on the ARIA chart for a helluvalong time. It was over a year or something.

Big J.G
08-06-2009, 11:20 PM
Are you referring to Banjo's Nose? BLASPHEMY!

And I dont mean to be the incorrect technical barstard (which I am mostly).

SS/POS was only the single that lasted the longest in the top 100 up until Sneaky Sound System's "I Love It" lasted in the charts for 70 weeks, which is one week longer than Second Solution/Prisoner of Society.

And Second Solution/Prisoner of Society was the only the highest selling single of the 90's, not all time.

I don't know if I am wrong, and I don't think I am too. I don't know why I'm such a technical barstard who pretends to know it all, when in fact they are wrong alot of the time, I suppose thats what most people regard as a "Fool".

Colezy
08-06-2009, 11:32 PM
yeah, i meant the 90's. whatever :p

The Dying Start
08-07-2009, 12:01 AM
POS is STILL the highest selling single of the 90's. It WAS the highest selling single in Aus Music History but was beaten out by Shitty Sound System in 2007.(2007 not being in the 1990s and all)

Amur

Thanks for detailed answer Glenn ;)
Here's another question for my future article...
What is the biggest crowd TLE have ever played to? Or, what is the average size of their audience at BDO? Like...5000, 7000 people?:wassat:

Mitch-PTV
08-26-2009, 09:26 AM
i ahve no idea about their biggest gig, but itd probably be big day out or something.

im not sure of the exact numbers, but i remember hearing that BDO gets over 30 000 people each year... i think that was BDO.

Ben reed
08-26-2009, 05:41 PM
i think the melbourne one has 40-50'000 and give or take for brisbane and sydney

Colezy
08-26-2009, 05:45 PM
Yeah, that's what I thought.

But, not all of the 50,000 people will be watching TLE.

I've noticed that when they last played at Falls (2004) nearly EVERYBODY was there watching them count in the new year. That was about 10,000 people (Marion Bay).

No idea about other gigs though. Especially overseas festivals and things.

Ben reed
08-26-2009, 06:01 PM
i imagine that there will be a lot at reading but once again, not everyone will be watching them.
their biggest headline gigs would be the recent australian raise the alarm shows wouldn't they?
also how many people were at that tour of duty thing in 99?
and chris played in front of a buttload of people at waveaid

Thats the one! Yer they may have but just throwing it out their.

Hisence this year would be their biggest own show wouldnt it, like not a festivl or support

Amur
08-27-2009, 02:12 AM
Now I'm totally confused!
Let's say they play to 12 000 people in Australia and that would be fine.
By any chance...does anyone know how many people went to their biggest headline gigs of RTA tour this May?

Colezy
08-27-2009, 02:33 AM
Not sure. I can't remember how many people it holds for gigs.

now, I need to compose catchy headline and also maybe you'll suggest some powerful, wise quotes to put into article? I've mentioned some but I'd like to have a choice. I might've forgotten really good ones.

Anyway, I named this article "Way to perfection", just because that's what TLE are playing for - to write a perfect song, album (even if it means making it "not so perfect as Modern Artillery"), to give amazing performances...
Don't want to translate it to english cause it doesn't say anything new really. It was an introduction, not an interesting exclusive interview with all these small unheard details that all die-hard fans love. :p

Now let's hope it will be published in november issue, not in december one how I was told. It will be too late cause I'd like to present it to the band when I see them in Europe. ;)

Is the Who's Gonna Save Us? Single available anywhere that isn't second hand and when you buy it gives the band income? I'm not interested in getting it considering I already have it, BUT that brings me to my next question.

If it's not available anywhere, would I be able to link a download to the Bsides on it? I wouldn't do it if I were ripping the band off, but if the single isn't available to purchase other than getting it second hand then I don't see the harm in posting the BSides for download. Songs like Do What I Do and Out of this Game were once on a released disc, and now you can't get them unless you get a second hand copy, which mainly luck will be on you side. And download links to both songs were posted here.

Just asking before I go and do something stupid, in which I have done many times in the past.

Shadow

Nope. Last I checked it wasn't on iTunes. But I'd like to know if it is available anywhere. I suppose I should have done my research but my computer just keeps crashing at the moment and that is just out of the question.

And thanks for telling me about Out of this Game, I guess that wont go up. Kev said a while ago that the CD is out of print and you can only get it on Ebay if you're lucky, and so an MP3 was posted.

It's not TLE-related question, but I always wanted to know where your middle names come from. In Russia you are just being given father's name. Like, my father's name is Stanislav so I'm called Yana Stanislavovna Amur.

Kacky
10-08-2009, 02:48 AM
That's an interesting way to do it, Yana. Our parents just choose whatever name that sounds good or what they like.

I'm Chelsea Faye. Faye was my grandpa's middle name, and that's my mum's middle name as well, so it's just passed down.

But it'd look funnier if I had my dad's name: Chelsea David.

I don't like that tradition either, but at least that makes sense! And as far as I know, you don't use those names, while in Russia it's polite to address to someone calling him|her by name+patronymic (especially when this person is older than you).
You would be called Chelsea Davidson (or something like that) cause we add suffix and gender ending to original name. If I were boy I'd be called Yan Stanislavovich, not Stanislavovna.
Ohh here comes severe off topic, my bad.

You should get a photo in here!

The white TUKs are a mid-sole shoe. I can confirm they are TUK ones. I don't think Chris has any full crepe-sole Creepers.

He also has some TUK Sneaker creepers, which just have a regular sneaker sole..they're the lowest, haven't seen him in white ones though. He has black ones.

SOmething I noticed when listening to Pictures in the Mirror from Roll On

At 1:05 when Chris sings, "The sun goes down the moon appears on the horizon," the part where he says, "the sun goes down," he does a chord that slides down, sort of as the music is "singing" along on a litteral level. "The sun goes down," the chord slides down

Just thought it was kind of interesting and wonder if it is just coincidence or actually planned

It reminded me of Chopin's "Raindrops"

I thought that it was about suicidal education. Things that you are learning are making you depressed.

paulvroc
10-31-2009, 07:16 PM
yeah....i had drawn on ideas myself.
kinda like a social commentary, how this generation is exposed to so much more that could lead to suicide, and how the state of society is generally just...not making any changes to stop that.
however thought there might have been something specific chris wrote about, that someone might have heard.

The Dying Start
10-31-2009, 07:44 PM
I think everyone gets carried away with the word Suicide. Maybe Chris wouldn't use it if he had the opportunity to write the song again. Everyone immediately thinks of literal suicide...as in a human killing themself. But if you listen to the lyric it's "Suicidal Education". Which says to me that Education is killing itself. Chris didn't write "Suicide Education", as in teaching people to kill themselves. As a commentary I'd say that perhaps Chris was sheding some light on the fact that Education standards are falling in on themselves, resulting in a generation of people not as well educated, or well-equipped as previous generations. Being sold the wrong messages, or a warped perspective which will inevitably be the direction that this generation is going to lead us into the future.

But all lyrics are wide open to personal interpretation!

paulvroc
10-31-2009, 09:27 PM
'it got sold to our generation
wake up to the manipulation
wake up to the situation'
seems to be an outcry...against maybe more than just society's standards.
possibly critiquing the government's role (or lack thereof) in the development of youth and how they're letting people destroy themselves?

Big J.G
10-31-2009, 11:45 PM
"You had me suicidal, suicidal, when you say it's over" - Sean Kingston

While translating White Noise lyrics to Russian, I came accross some idiomic (or just not so obvious for me) expressions that I hardly understand:

from HDWK: "we're breaking out on the grind"
"Spare me the romance"
"information Coming down the line"

Could you please help me and explain it in other words? Thanks

Mitch-PTV
01-26-2010, 10:36 PM
breaking out of the grind is a colloquial expression that pretty much means breaking out of the every day routine. in this song it falls in line with going against whats expected, yada yada, ties in with the theme of the song.

spare me the romance could refer to sparing your thoughts/sympathies/opinions etc.

"information comming down the line" ties in with the next line, "but as far as i can tell its just the blind leading the blind". information comming down the line refers to the information thats been passed on, whether it be through the news or through word of mouth etc. its just commenting on the unreliability of whats being told etc.

i suck at explaining things and in my head i know what im talking about. its not as fluent in writing, but i hope that clears things up a bit.

Reminds me of when I jokingly asked Chris to send me the tracks from the vault. He gave me the "if I did, I'd have to kill you" look while shaking his head saying "no." :p
If I remember clearly, he also said he hasn't got access to them. But yeah, even if he did - it would be "no" either way :D
