Well here we are at the final track for all 5 albums. After this, White Noise bowes out. Will Sum of Us take it out on a high note? So far White Noise has only won 1 track but has featured well in the placings. It should be a tight contest with no track having been a single. Get voting!

One of the most underrated songs. And one of the best Live.

Hmmm i'll have a hard think about this one, its between Nowhere town and fly away for me

but white noise only bows out after this with the aussie track listing if we go by the japan listing we get two more in Suzy and New Frontier, bringing it up to even with the other albums ;)

That'd suck for the other albums because Suzy and Frontier are two stonking awesome tracks (that should have been album tracks everywhere!)

they really should, Frontier made an awesome album closer

also my vote goes to nowhere town

That should say Fly Away - because of the bird.

Btw - thats what I voted for.

Because in my early TLE worshiping days, that was my favourite song for a long time.

Well, by early I meant mid 2007, I started to worship the band in early 2006 with the release of wake up.

Sum of Us all. I used to not think much of it, but it has some very fun guitar lines, and the whoa oh whoa oh! backing vocals are mint! It's also super fun live, with it speeding up at the end and whatnot.

Nowhere town a close 2nd.

Sum of Us is amazing. Chris' voice in that song, and the guitar tone are pretty top notch. My favourite, especially after seeing it live.

It's great in many ways, and sounds so groovy live, but in this exact poll I chosed Fly Away just because it's more in TLE style and I love that song.

I was going to mention the Japanese version and I think they would be warrented more had they not been B sides in Australia so I thought they belonged in a different category. Plus, its still only 2 more tracks, the other albums have 3 more so it'd still fall short. I guess if there's enough support we can include them.

Suzy should of been on white noise. itd be one of the best tracks on that album.
im going for read about it, i love the little guitar riffs used in there.

if you really think about it, both Suzy and Frontier...lyrically, just don't fit on WN.
sure, the music could be seen to match that on the album in a way...but they'd be kind of random because all the tracks just about on the album deal with human nature, modern society, religion, and the overall concept of 'White Noise' today.
even the title track...while it appears to be about a relationship...i see as a huge metaphor for the circumstances of our world.

with that said...i was listening to She's Calling Out yesterday...and just could not for the life of me work out why that didn't make the album. my favourite outtake and definitely the most fitting for the albums content, who decided to cut it?? :|
its so epic and well structured...and the lyrics are amazing!

okay...onto the poll.
i went with Sum Of Us...just think its stronger than the other track 11 offerings...
great melody, heartfelt lyrics, and just solid reggae :)

Ben reed
08-17-2009, 08:01 PM
yeah i agree about she's calling out.
fantastic track!

Shadow
08-17-2009, 08:07 PM
She's Calling Out is one of the finest TLE songs ever, IMO.

Can we run White Noise b-sides in the future polls in lieu of White Noise tracks 12, 13, and 14?

Ben reed
08-17-2009, 08:20 PM
good idea
i think CIA is also fantastic
really sounds like a really rocked up self titled track mixed with state of emergency
i can hear lots of rockabilly influence as well. Not saying it's a rockabilly track but it does have the influence in there.

Shadow
08-17-2009, 08:26 PM
Yeah - if any b-sides should make it, in theory it should be the first three that were available... Listen Up Suzy, CIA and She's Calling Out. Hopeless is a demo and... yeah. Should it be in there?

it sounds forced and not very interesting.

1. Fly Away - Loved this song from the start; great beat and tempo, and just really fun to sing along too.
2. Sum of Us - Found this one of the more surprising songs for TLE, made me smile the first time I listened to it. Really just a completely new direction in terms of sound and it worked fantasticly well for the last song of WN.
3. Read About It - Yet again, Roll On falls to third through no fault of it's own, I really like this song but eh, so it is...
4. Nowhere Town - Fits in well with the rest of SOE, and I like putting this one up loud every so often...though it's not the most outstanding of TLE songs.
5. So What? - ...title says it all really... (ok, maybe a bit too harsh but it's not a favourite that's for sure)

my tally at the moment is:
S/T - 4
RO - 1
MA - 1
SOE - 3
WN - 2

which is....kinda accurate for how i rank the albums.
Roll On is lacking mainly because its more of a good consistent listen...with less standout songs than the shorter playing White Noise.
at this stage i can also see MA getting a further vote for track 14...

dylanos
08-19-2009, 09:58 PM
I don't know if we should put B sides in for the remaining tracks because they are B sides and not album and there are more than 3 B sides. Also, I'm pretty sure they said they recorded 13 or 14 properly for the album and the rest have come from recording sessions in Aus. You can tell new frontier was recorded in the usa, as was beware the moon and I reckon she's calling out...the others just don't have the same quality of recording. The other problem is we don't know what order to put them in. If anything the only thing we can do is go from the Japanese release... I know we all love some B sides but I think the polls should stick to albums...just my thoughts. Maybe do a poll to see if we include B sides haha...

It was actually recorded in Melbourne, which surprised me, too!

From the Moment In The Sun single liner notes:

NEW FRONTIER
Recorded and mixed by Kalju Tonuma at Studio One, Melbourne, VIC
Mastered by Reece Tunbridge at Benchmark Mastering, Sydney, NSW

S/T is my favourite TLE record. It's a bit rare that I would pick a different song over one from it. Except for I Want A Day. It's the only song on S/T that I don't really dig.

Although I voted for Fly Away (and I still stick with my vote! Nothing beats its killer guitar solo), I’m glad to see that Sum Of Us is doing so well. It’s interesting/good to see that a song, which is quite different (genre wise) from many other TLE songs, is supported by lots of people on here ;).

Track 12 hey that means from memory i want a day, killing the right, rising up from the ashes and state of emergeny.

Some great songs there, Killing The right stands out too me as the standout though, but rising up is one of the most living end songs on MA Imo and a standout from that album

I was about to do track 12 but I just thought I'd put it out there that there won't be any white noise B sides/Japanese tracklisting tracks...unless there is an overwhelming support for it in the next day or two... So I thought I'd put it to the people. (The other thing is deciding which tracks so that's also why I think not)
