Post crazy and not-so-crazy tunings here, and also bands that use those tunings. If not, just anything about different tunings from the standard E-A-D-G-B-E.
First up, these ones are from the "Altered Tunings" section of Guitarist Australia magazine with Eric Claptonne on the front. Throw some chord shapes in if you want.
Open D tuning.
From low to high: D-A-D-F#-A-D
Drop D tuning.
Low to high: D-A-D-G-B-E
For an Fmaj7 chord in drop D:
e--5--|
b--5--|
g--5--|
d--3--|
a--3--|
d--3--|

hey i never knew anything past powerchords on drop D haha, might use that one now!
Bodyjar use Dropped D flat/C Sharp on most (if not all) of their self titled album, i think i read somewhere that black sabbath also did this, it goes:
Low to High: C#-G#-C#-F#-A#-D#
or flat wise: D flat-A flat-D flat-G flat-B flat- E flat
anyone who finds a flat sign on a keyboard let me know!
i also sometimes play around with double dropped D (D-A-D-G-B-D) or the same thing flattened, i find having the top and bottom strings the same is less confusing.
Apparently slipknot go all the way down to Dropped B or so

Haha sorry, I don't think there's a real flat character around in this font thouh. b looks so much better than 'flat' though :p

C-G-C-G-C-C
now that's a whacky tuning- listen to john butler's pickapart if you wanna know how it sounds.
My Acoustic guitar is currently tuned to C-A-C-G-C-E. Bron yr aur (or however you spell it) is tuned to that. I think it's fun to experiment in that tuning because it resonates differently on my guitar to any other tuning and its sounds really nice :)

I use standard tuning for general playing and Open G for slide, occasionally I use a capo to alter the pitch a little. The only tuning I use that I'd consider weird is in one of my bands songs the guitar is tuned to C-C-C-C-C-C I was playing slide in Open C and decided to tune the rest of the strings to C to see what it'd sound like. Pretty fun to play, except I don't know any chords for that tuning so I just make up my own.

If you want to look at some different chords, check out Jeff Buckleys Grace. The way he uses drop d is amazing. Especially in the song Grace
This is my favourite chord atm
e--5--|
b--3--|
g--2--|
d--0--|
a--0--|
d--0--|

In some Goo Goo Dolls song i think Iris the tuning is like
B
D
D
D
D
D
retarded
I love open E (E-B-E-G#-B-E)
and when playing some heavy stuff I go right down to C and C#, sometimes even A#

six string 5th chord, similar to that jeff buckley one (^) but playable as a bar chord, i claim i thought of it (probably not though), as i am yet to see it anywhere else:

Ab:0
Db:0

Queens of the stone age use C standard on most of their songs.
